Absolutely love this place, the owner and his associates are very knowledgeable and kind. Steve the owner will literally walk you through every step when it comes to setting up a water feature. What I love most of all is they carry everything you need for both large and small setups. Even if you don't have the space for a large koi pond and just want something for your patio, Steve and his crew have you covered. I bring my 5 year old regularly to feed the fish and see his beautiful birds.

My wife and I had a very pleasant experience at Tropic Bay Water Gardens today.There was a large selection of fish, water features, pond supplies, plants, and adornments.The owner Steve was extremely helpful and knowledgeable when asking him about pond and koi advice. I don't know what everyone else's gripe is.The female staff member that worked with us was also amazing. I wish I caught her name, but I will see her again at our next visit!We went home with 2 beautiful butterfly koi and will certainly be back again.Thank you!

I’ve been to “pet stores” I’ve been to hatchery’s, and fish specialty stores all over Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania, with that said I love this place. It’s over an hour drive and I’ve made the trip 5 times 4 of which I brought friends and family to not only look for new fish but to enjoy the experience. I’ve spent over a thousand dollars on several butterfly koi, normal koi and comet to enhance my pond. Is the owner short? Maybe but working in customer service is MISERABLE!… if you haven’t you shouldn’t be able to leave a review as you can never please everyone. He has a different sense of humor and either you get it or you don’t but the man knows his fish. I once asked if I could get a discount as it was my birthday and his response… are you gonna come back and pay extra when it’s my birthday? The man’s not wrong. He has a phenomenal facility and a phenomenal selection of fish and plants. Everyone saying it’s dirty, unkept, whatever…. Open a place comparable with his selection, using high school age help and dealing with know it alls. You’ll be out of business in a month. Hence why there’s no other place like this. Hanover Koi farm is the only other place even comparable but is in itself is a completely different experience.

I truly enjoyed visiting this place. The fish were swimming about in the many ponds on the property. I really loved my purchases of garden art. The owner and staff were welcoming and knowledgeable.

Pretty much the "only" place in the area where you can get a vast variety of products from fountains, to pond supplies, koi & more! Add years of experience & you can't go wrong with your home/yard accenting needs.

The owner has a know it all attitude , this place reminds me a cheap knock off store near a military base overseas. All of the yard and garden decor is over priced from China ( as labeled) , most of the stuff is cheaper at Amazon or PetSmart. Not wellTaken care of , the place is dirty and they spend most of their time belittling customers. The koi fish are in the wrong ponds so they try to up charge you if you pick out fish , then up charge you on “special “ food that a 2 second google search will show you . Do yourself a favor and shop somewhere with better customer service. We won’t be back .

I have been here 3 times in one month. Each time I go hoping to get a koi but see sick koi in the tank each time. I have seen them swimming sideways, eyes bulging and sores. If you have sick fish take the sick ones out and treat the fish. Don't sell over priced koi thst are possibly harboring infections. From the looks of it you don't even give refunds to those you sold sick.

I e never been to a Koi store before. It was quite an experience. I also saw lots of ideas for ways to create a water feature in my back yard. Had to cut my visit short, so I don't have time to ask questions, but I'll be back

We came here today to purchase Koi fish for an outdoor pond and an indoor tank. When we walked in we were not greeted by a gentleman at the register who seemed to be the owner sitting only a few steps from the door with no other customers in sight. When we asked where the fish were located we were told "that sign on the door is your hint." There was a fish painted on a door and an enter sign above it but to us it was not quite clear that that is where we get the fish and therefore we thought his comment and how it was said was quite rude and we had decided not to purchase because of it. However, a young employee began helping us and was quite kind and knowledgeable therefore we bought what we came for because she saved the sale. Although, as we were preparing to check out we learned that two of the fish we wanted to purchase where placed in a pond with much lower pricing but rather than trying to rectify the fact that they were put in the wrong pond by honoring the price listed or even offering a discount the owner became upset because we didn't want to purchase them at a higher price than was listed. Customer service is important to us and he needs to offer more of it. We give two stars for the service we received from the young lady who helped although she herself deserved all 5 stars. The variety of water features and Koi is nice but only if you can overlook good customer service.

If it weren't for the helpful and sweet employees, I would rate this space zero stars. Our family saw a promotion to check out their pond fish and decor, and was met by what seems to be the owner who was rude. A new employee quoted me $14.99 and $17.99 for pond plants and ended up paying $19.99 for each, and the owner immediately confirmed that the prices are correct and the 2-day old employee who quoted me was incorrect. In other words, instead of honoring the quoted price, he put up a fuss about it. As I headed out the door disappointed, he tried to salvage the relationship, however, I only need to ask once! I don't need to beg for courteous service, and I refuse to hear BS for a few dollars. ALREADY THE PRICES are OVERPRICED! My immediate goal was to support local mom and pop spaces, and just buy a few items to help them out...however, it's obvious that they don't need the business (no military discounts either) .The Homestead Gardens which is about a mile away from this space is cleaner more organized and has larger plant and garden selection WITH LOWER PRICES. If you need pond plants, check them out instead. What a disappointing family outing at Tropic Bay Water Gardens.

Fish/koi are amazing and fun to see animals like roosters and turkeys roaming, though we had driven 45 minutes for aquatic plants and the quality was very poor. Mucky outdoor ponds with stagnant water and unhealthy looking plants. Owner was also not wearing a mask even with 5 other customers in the shop -- we are still in a pandemic! We left after 10 minutes empty handed and disappointed.

Staff was very attentive. Owner is very much fun and very informative. Not sure why 3.6 stars. I guess if you don't ask or think you know more you're still at the right place but maybe a bit stuck in your own ways. My biggest imparting of knowledge if you read and listen right is if you have a pond, you are managing clean healthy water. Everything else falls into place.

This is an amazing store especially when it comes to koi. I feel that the customer service is exemplary. When I visited during the koi festival, I encountered the best deals on a large selection of koi I have ever seen. All in all, this is a great place and we will be back for the next festival. Great selection of koi, water plants, and pond chemicals and equipment. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful and will always give the best, rather than most expensive advice. You will also be able to see a friendly cat and rooster roaming the store (they are not as helpful as the rest of the staff, but are a lot of fun;-)

Nice place to walk through. Also good trip for kids. The owner keeps turkeys, ducks, and some other birds, and the fish area is really nice. The cat greets you when you arrive and leave.

This is a strange place. It was a long drive from home and was a real disappointment. It's a mess. It looks like at one time it was really nice. I was in the big greenhouse and there were many (50 large koi?) dead fish floating in many areas. There was also fish you could see in the filter system trying to get out. Someone came in while I was walking around and started to scoop up the dead fish. It was sad. On top of that they were keeping poultry in the same greenhouse in deplorable conditions. The smell was overwhelming. The plant selection was not as good as advertised and the outdoor water ponds and plant sales area was not cared fore resulting in lots of dead plants. Took a peek in the back and there was a lot more poultry kept in horrible pens sandwiched between cargo containers. I would not buy anything from this place. Neither should you. It's sad because you can see that the place had great potential but has been run into the ground. My rating is negative one star.

Omg!! I absolutely love this place we traveled from va beach va. We bought 4 beautiful koi fish . They have great customer service and the man tht helped us was very nice and helpful. The prices were pretty reasonable.. We will definitely be back 😍❤

Strange and eclectic little place full of unique art pieces, beautiful koi, and roaming roosters. Only trouble is that I wandered around for at least half an hour, and was completely ignored by staff. Not one worker asked if I needed help, despite several looking me straight in the face or watching me from across the greenhouse. I was made to feel like I didn’t belong there. Oh well, at least no one followed me around. Anyway, I had a great time all by myself!

They have a wonderful assortment of various koi at different sizes. It might just be that it's early in the season, but their water plants were disappointing. The plant pools out back seemed under maintained, and you couldn't read most of the labels.

Very helpful. I recently created a pond in my yard- needless to say I am a novice at this stage. The staff at Tropic Bay educated me on how to manage mosquitos and prepared me for the next phase of my pond. The staff did not take advantage of the little knowledge I had regarding aquatic ponds- instead they pointed me in the right direction and not only do I have an impressive water feature in my yard... but I’m on my way to having a beautiful fish filled aquatic environment!

Great selection of stuff but found their prices expensive. Stood their forever waiting on the woman to address me because she was chatting with two other women. As soon as I get her to start talking to me, she tops to answer the phone and starts having another conversation with someone she knew. Needless to say I won't be going back.
