Not only a wonderfully delicious cake but a conversation piece too. Cake was moist easy to thaw for servicing and was a huge hit for our Easter Celebration. Had a little hiccup with shipping contacted customer service AFTER hours and received a reply back from the owner Brian within 5 minutes. Problem resolved and cake was on the table for Easter. Family has requested these cakes for our family holidays and I have no objections! Thank you for a unique and delicious offering to our holidays.

2022:I Had pre-ordered the birthday package and sent it to myself in SW Ohio and it arrived on the date I specified exactly.(I gave a 1.5 week notice) It was packaged 100% perfect and everything was frozen and intact. It was a Styrofoam cooler with dry ice packed with a nondescript overbox. Price was a bit high but worth it. The only weird thing is it's made in Crisfield, not Ewell. Close enough though, still 100% great experience. The package included 4 pints of the ice cream, the original large cake, candles and chocolates. The reason I ordered this cake was their 100% guarantee, made me feel safer in my decision. I really need to get back to the island, but this time the taste of the island came to me. What a great birthday it was, it truly made my year!--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------2023: This time I ordered the Double Chocolate Raspberry cake. It came on time and in perfect condition again. Ice cream was frozen and hard, everything was good. The Old Bay ice cream was interesting. Hmmm. I included some photos.

If you want Smith Island cake, this place is amazing! A plethora of flavors. They will ship to you.Large cakes are baked in a 9" pan. Small cakes in a 6"pan. And the cake bites... Oh the cake bites!!! I can personally attest to the yumminess of the S'mores and the carrot cake bites.The folks are friendly, especially Raymond. If you want a good story and some great cake, this place is a must visit.Tucked away in a residential neighborhood. They don't usually sell individual slices. There is no place to "dine in."

A must visit. Cake bites are amazing and a great way to discuss your next cake selection with family. You can not go wrong with the traditional cake. I can't stop thinking about the red velvet cake. Go out of your way to stop here and save room in your cooler for dessert. You can order online, but this place deserves at least one visit in person to witness the quality product and clean operation.

Ordered a cake to be delivered on Saturday for a Birthday party. After delivery never happened I contacted the company and received zero response. Do not trust the delivery date it will never arrive on time.

Delicious Buttercream Vanilla Cake! Our daughter was accepted to the University of Wisconsin Madison on a full scholarship so we wanted to celebrate National College Decision Day, May 1st. This cake proved perfect to celebrate our daughter and her accomplishments. Thank you also, for the free red velvet cake bites. They were very useful in decorating our daughter’s cake with UW Madison colors. Thank you again for the wonderful cake. The packaging was perfect.

My niece in Iowa was delighted with the Smith Island cake sampler we just sent her for her birthday. We have sent the sampler to a number of family members, and it is always a big hit for special celebrations. The cakes always arrive as scheduled and in excellent condition.

I've ordered birthday cakes twice from Smith Island Baking Company with guaranteed delivery dates. The first time, I received an email saying delivery would be late (after the birthday), and I was able to contact them and they sent out a cake with next day delivery so it would arrive on time. Because of that, I ordered again, thinking it was a fluke and their customer service was good. The second time, it was a Friday evening before I got the email saying the cake would now be delivered on Tuesday (guaranteed delivery was Friday). Because they are closed on Saturday, there was no way to get the items delivered on time. Both times I received the same excuse "UPS errors are rare, but never acceptable". I don't call 2 out of 2 times "rare". They did refund me, but that doesn't help the fact that the birthday gift was ruined. 3 stars because they did try to make it right.

I have heard of these cakes before back when it was just offered in the standard flavor yellow cake with chocolate icing. I'm one of the rare individuals that don't eat chocolate and that's why I never had one until now as I have discovered that the cakes now come in other varieties besides chocolate. Purchased the small vanilla buttercream cake recently for the first time and have to say it's pretty good. It arrived as promised and well packaged.

Not what I expected but excellent customer service and good pricing. On site the original cake is $44 while the rest remain $59. It is not much to look at, essentially a parking lot and small lobby with a window to cake creation, but I still consider it worth the trip (45-1 hour from our location while we were vacationing).Keep in mind cakes are frozen unless you are on site and able to get a fresh one, they take around 4 hours to thaw.Good spot, great cakes.

The service and delivery date were spot on excellent. After forgetting the PROMO CODE, Brian not only applied the code but also suggest less expensive shipping!My brother in Florida sent the caramel frosted cake for my birthday after seeing the company spotlighted on a television show. The cake was excellent, frosting tasted like my mother used to make. I loved it!Shared the website with my girlfriend who owns two bakeries. She loved the concept and sent it to her son for his birthday in Washington, DC. In her words, It was a “great success, he loved it too!”Recently sent the strawberry shortcake to my son in NY. It’s always been a favorite of his for his Spring birthday. This was a promo which came with candles, two pints of ice cream and chocolates. Received numerous pictures with the cake a blaze in candles, he and his girlfriend along with their Swiss Mountain dog celebrating!!! Too cute!We will continue to send Smith Island cakes to make a birthday or special event extra special with family spread across the country. Puts a smile on everyone’s face. Thanks again Brian!

Fantastic! This year for my birthday there was one cake I was really craving: the SIBC banana cake with buttercream icing. It is, without a doubt, the best bakery cake I have ever eaten, on par with homemade cakes. It is incredibly moist, has balanced flavors and was just what I was craving. I ordered the cookies & cream cake for my bf's birthday. I have to say this cake did not come close to meeting my expectations. It was barely iced, only a few crumbs of cookies on the top and worst of all it was very dry & flavorless. I would not recommend.

Wow. I ordered the classic cake as a thank you gift for a friend who did me a favor.Finally ordered one for myself for Christmas dinner and what a disappointment! The cake was dry and grainy and the chocolate frosting was hard and sugary with no real chocolate taste at all! Suffice it to say that I am embarrassed that I sent such a terrible cake as a gift and will never buy from Smith Island Baking Co. again. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Buy a Smith Island cake Groupon. Buy the Smith Island classic yellow cake with chocolate fudge frosting. End of discussion.The cake will arrive between 4-5 days from your date of placing your online order. It is well packed with dry ice. Hopefully, the mailmen won't toss it around (so it will remain upright and in pristine condition).Open the package. Thaw your cake in the fridge. Enjoy it a day later.Got this for my husband's 50th. He simply loved it! As did our kids, friends, and anyone else who visited our home in the next couple of days. Was completely worth it! The cake is 10 times better than any birthday cake creations of the best bakeries and patisseries in Milwaukee. And cheaper. Even if you are a good baker (as I like to think that I am) it is worth tossing your apron for this cake!The Smith Island cake company bakers are supremely talented. Their cakes have that homemade freshness, taste, and look. I felt an intense happiness and relief when I took my first bite. I felt that an unknown grandma had sent me this cake with love. I absolutely needed it.

I LOVE them.I served them at my daughter's wedding reception as a dessert.I sent and will send them for Christmas and birthday celebrations to my very important people.Their service, business have been excellent, really accurate and kind.Although I wish the shipping cost lower, it is worthwhile to spend money for the highest quality and the trustable service.

Purchased the strawberry creme cake for my son's 2nd birthday. We kept it frozen until yesterday. OMG!! My dad and brother-in-law raved about how unbelievable it tasted. I was impressed by the beauty of the strawberry layers. Everyone was blown away and kept asking about Smith island. My husband told me to only order Smith island cakes for our events. We have tried the pumpkin and now the strawberry. Can't wait to try the coconut!! Thank you for making my son's birthday that much more special!!🎂🍰😮😍

Excellent product and the premier of the Smith Island Cake. BUT, I would avoid as a Christmas gift as they can't keep up with demand or shipping. There are other bakeries that have excellent quality cakes and can scale for the holidays with free shipping. ( I am not allowed to respond to the response below, so have edited my comments. Despite the "untrue and unfair" response below, I did call their business and was told as much. They are limited in what they can sell. It is a premier and excellent product, just not scalable).

Can't say enough about the customer service, and the cake is delicious, too! My husband placed an order for two cakes a month or two in advance and the cakes arrived right on time, although it appears that FedEx destroyed the styrofoam shipping container and repacked the order in a cardboard box with the dry ice on the bottom and both cakes on top, upside down, of course. We opened up one cake and it was mostly thawed and the frosting on the top stuck to the lid. I was able to scrape the frosting off the lid and we still ate the cake - delicious! I sent the company an email Sunday morning and the owner himself replied at 8:30 Sunday night - even though the damage was entirely FedEx's fault, he promised to make it right. And first thing Monday morning, a customer service rep also sent an email offering to send a replacement cake on the date of our choosing. You don't get customer service like this many places these days. We will definitely order from Smith Island Baking Co again!

I was unhappy with my first, and last order over one year ago but had not been able to speak with customer service at the time due to "phone tag". Therefore I called for guidance with this new order, shared my experience, and was quickly offered a replacement cake or refund, learning that my satisfaction with the product was "unconditionally guaranteed". I received a fresh cake the very next day and am extremely pleased. Thank you very much Mr. Murphy for your outstanding customer service. The cake is delicious and I will be a returning customer.

Husband bought the lemon creme cake online for my birthday. Packaged well. When they say small, they mean small. For a $60 cake.. i could have bought a frozen pepperidge farm lemon cake with more flavor for $8. It was pretty dry and lemon curd was thin and overly sweet. And I guess I don't like frosting- it was sickish. This is the 2nd smith island cake I've tried. A coworker gave me a piece of the traditional and once it again, bland and dry. The cakes are GORGEOUS but the actual cake is bland. Boxed cake is more moist. What a let down and waste of $60! wow...live and learn I guess.

Good taste, buttercream icing and very freshly made. Prices are just too high at $45 for a VERY small cake. I likely wouldn’t return as there are other more reasonable options for smith island cake nearby.
