Amazed at how fast they filled my online order. I found what I needed online, requested it, I live nearby so I hit submit then drover there. (About 6 min drive). They actually filled and had it ready for me. I am so impressed. That's why neighborhood Ace is so great. They were friendly, the associate offered to load into my vehicle as well. What a great service! Thanks Zimmermans Ace!

UPDATE: Tim was very quick to address the belt issue, picking it back up the same day (Friday), providing a loaner to finish what I had started, and having my equipment back to me on Monday. They also appear to have changed the oil/filter while having it the second time. I do appreciate his follow up which is why this bumped from 1 to 3 stars.----------------------------------------------------------------------------Scheduling pickup was fine but the department disappeared on me after that; no updates were provided when they were promised, and nobody ever answered the phone when I tried to get information. When I did finally get through to someone, after days of trying, I was treated rudely for the fact that I had been trying.The service took longer than I was told it would. Despite bringing it in for servicing, they didn't change the oil/filter. Within 1 hour of being returned it stopped working (apparently a belt somehow popped off for the first time ever).

I will never use Zimmerman's again to service my John Deere Lawn Tractor. Since Zimmerman sold the business last year maintenance service has gone downhill fast. Since I was going to be away for a couple weeks, I asked the women handling maintenance if they could put the tractor in my shed when they dropped it off since I was going away for a couple weeks. When she called to let me know the work was completed and arrange for payment and delivery, I again asked that the tractor be put in the shed. No problem she told me we do it all the time! When a friend went by my home today (March 28, 2024) to check on the house he found my tractor sitting in my driveway. That means for over a week the tractor was out in the rain. Perhaps their delivery driver never was never told to put the tractor in the shed. But that is no excuse.

In the middle of snow/ice storm I needed more ice melt and to pick up somethings from the grocery store. Zimmerman is across from the grocery store. I was on crutches due to recent surgery and my curbside order was ready in 20 minutes.

Zimmerman's Hardware is 1 1/2 hours travel time from my residence. Number one, the reason I shopped that far away is because they were the only retailer within reasonable driving distance that had the product in stock. Number two, as advertised they texted me when the product was ready for pick-up. Number three, the product was ready for my arrival as per stated procedure. The store appeared well organized and clean. I wanted to browse a little, but I was short on time. Hardware stores are all but gone in my area because the "big department stores" have under cut them which is a shame, but this store got my attention.

I bought my John Deere D-130 tractor from Zimmermams about 5 years ago. I have had yearly service by them. This year they returned the mower without the key and with a rip in the seat. The service department woman I talked to was rude when I called for the key. Apparently the new ownership at Zimmermans hires inept personnel. Stay away!

Ordered online for same day pick up, waited 4 hours and then called to see if it was ready to pick up. They said we don’t have it might be able to pick up tomorrow. I asked to cancel the order because I needed it that day. They never canceled it and sent me an email saying it was ready for pick the next day. I went to pick it up, go to to two cashiers talking (no customers) they asked for my name on the order, they check the desk and say it’s not here, go ask someone on the floor. This level of service you can get at Home Depot. I try to support a local hardware store .. won’t bother going out of my way anymore

Bought a Stilh chain saw a while ago. I purchased a replacement chain which the representative gave me. When try to replace it I was given the wrong one. Today I went to get exchanged and the gentleman at the desk had a customer which I waited for a couple of minutes. The gentleman said they I needed the model number which I didn’t have at the moment I got the number and he had another customer I awaited again and he was selling a lawnmower after all this is happening he started to talk about church with the customers he was taking care when I was still waiting for him. I went and asked someone else for help and this person was not familiar with the product which he still tried to help me. I was trying to explain to the two of them at the time that I had purchased the saw at the store but the one gentleman was like he didn’t want to hear what I was trying to say, I was trying to tell him that they had the purchased information as I got it from the store but it seemed that he didn’t want to help me, I got frustrated as I wasted about an hour just waiting to get someone’s attention and left the store. Will definitely return the chain saw and will never go back to that store.

If you don’t shop at Zimmermans you REALLY should. This is a Little Box Store, BUT, it is Full of people who speak to you, look you in the eyes, ask how they can help you…… and then they ACTUALLY Help You. I did an on line order today from Zimmermans for the first time. I got a text immediately that my order was received and should expect another text when my merchandise was ready to be picked up. My order was ready in 6 minutes. When I went to Zimmermans I asked a fellow who was coming out from the cashier area where I go to pick up an online order. He didn’t point, he didn’t say that wasn’t his department, both of these are responses I have gotten from folks at the Big Box hardware stores. Instead he said he could help me with that and walked me towards the back, asked my name and what I was picking up and brought it right out to me. I signed their paperwork, he gave me my copy and asked if I needed help getting it to my car. I could handle it but it was polite and considerate to ask. As I left the young man at the register looked at me, smiled and said Have a Nice Day. So, if you’re old enough to remember when all this was the kind of service you typically got when you shopped come to Zimmermans and you’ll see it again. If you’ve NEVER been to a hardware store with friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, efficient people, PLEASE try Zimmermans. They don’t have everything, but they have a lot and you can call ahead to see.

I was shocked and pleased to receive old-fashioned customer service from the guy in the key department. I had lost one of my Hyundai car keys and been to Home Depot where the Home Depot guy put it in their machine and said they couldn't make it. The Zimmerman's guy had other options. He took the time to find the blank and cut a new key. He then walked outside with me to make sure it worked in my car. Only $4. I love old-fashioned customer service.

This store is supposed to close at 7 pm. I arrived at 6:23 and it was already closed. No update to Google maps. The manager saw me from inside and made no move to let me in or even apologize for the inconvenience. I don’t know how they expect to compete with big box stores if they can’t even commit to their own hours. And obviously it’s not an emergency where every employee had to go home early or the manager wouldn’t be strolling around inside the store. I drove out in the rain thinking I would support a local business but I won’t be coming back.

went in for some pipe fittings for my air compressor on my on my lunch break and I was in a slight hurry. so when the sales associate commandeered my experience, as soon as I walked in the door I let him but essentially it was too distracting and I would have bought a couple of things to try but ended up walking out with one that didn't fit lol basically had that. just been allowed to think and do my thing. I would have bought more than one fitting and actually got what I needed, I need fittings for more than one job extended dishwasher etc. but his presence was just distracting , especially when it became apparent that he didn't really know more than I did, at that point. i wish he would have just left me to my own devices and I would have figured it out. it also think they'd have a better way to rack and display these various fittings, connectors and linkages, that by itself was a pain. The way he hovered kind of made me wonder if he thought I was going to steal something.

I have never been to Zimmerman's before this past weekend, but my experience was absolutely fantastic. I had been searching for a Snow Blower in emergency as my current one was not running correctly. My local Ace ran out of stock down county while I was trying to make a decision of what to do. I decided to place an order online with Zimmerman rather than going to the big box stores which was closer. Upon arrival I was warmly greeted by two people, given direction to the pickup desk, then the employee walked me to a manager who actually cared about my order and told me how popular the EGO 24 inch Snow blower was. We had a nice personable chat all around. He directed me where to go for pickup and the guys at the loading dock were very helpful and prompt in loading the box into my SUV. I have dealt with other ACE hardware stores and I must say it is a great shopping experience compared to the big box stores. For me, location wise they are more convenient driving distance, and for some items, priced the same as a big box store. I would much rather do business with an ACE than the big box stores when I can. They really do live up to their commercials "The helpful hardware folks."

I like this hardware store. I went in for some machine screws and they were half the price of the big box hardware. Plus, all their hardware is put away and organized (if super high off the ground for what I needed). Some things are more expensive here but it's a nice selection and there's always help if you need it.

So incompetent that the dealer recommended me to take my power tool to another service center. They lack simple communication, as they did not initiate a call once during the several weeks I waited for a repair. They also flat out lied several times about what the dealer told them and about the work they had attempted. My power tool never ended up getting fixed. I don’t know if my race played a role in the poor customer service, but regardless, I will never go back.05/13/2021 - The owners response clearly ignores the issues at hand. Honda was excellent with their customer service and communication with me throughout the process. They also strongly advised me to take my mower to another reputable location. Hence the pick up. Your establishment lacks the fundamentals of simple communication.

It gets no better. These guys will load mulch, help you figure out projects, they’re super friendly, and they’ve never not had what I need. They’re a little further away than their big orange competitor but they’re better in every way on price and service. Do yourself a favor and just go here. You can message me directly if I’m wrong, but spoiler alert: I’m not.

Zimmerman's is your local neighborhood hardware store. I have had good, acceptable and bad experiences as I think most people have with retail establishments. Today though I had a great experience. Today I needed to get a part for my tractor. I had read some of the past reviews so I had an idea of what information the store associates would need to be able to help me. With a little trepidation based on some of the past reviews I went to the parts department where I met John and Ben. Both of these employees were fabulous. They answered my questions, helped me find the parts I needed, and they were fun. You can tell they enjoy their job. Even when I had the wrong information they worked with me to figure out what I needed, and upon returning with the mower model number they were able to get me everything I needed. Who knew that the number on the engine wasn't the only thing they might need and that the actual mower has a model number. You really cannot just say I have a Cub Cadet tractor and I need parts for it. Next time I need parts I will head back to Zimmerman's, if only every parts/auto/service center was this nice to deal with then I wouldn't have any trepidation in visiting them. Great job Zimmerman's and kudos to your fabulous employees.

You may think "HD" and "L" have everything you need. Nope! Shop your local Ace Hardware store. They really have everything. I wanted a high quality lump charcoal and they had 5 or 6 different ones to choose from at competitive prices. The big box boys carry junk. I encourage you to check them out.

If you are going for a few unusual items, this is the place to go. We went to Home Depot for silicon spray and a few other items. After asking several employees we left because they were no help. At Ace the help was wonderful. We were in and out with everything we wanted in no time at all. The employees are very helpful. They go above and beyond. It's the place to go.

UPDATE: The co-owner Ron contacted me immediately after I gave a poor review. He was genuinely concerned about my experience and went out of his way to resolve directly with the employees. I changed my star rating because that's the kind of good business ownership and personal touch that matters. I am pleased that I got a great deal on a sale item.Original Review: Employees not helpful, especially if you need help with heavy items.
