Me and my son came in to get a fish and the lady helping us was awesome! She was super helpful,kind and patient with us through the process. My son raved about how nice our fish helper was . Really wish I would have gotten her name . But to the young lady who was working the front with the twist , thank you!!

The GM Daina is such a wealth of knowledge and I ended up purchasing the Petco Vital Care Premier Membership subscription which saves me so much money. Great customer service, awesome experience! And my fur baby loves it there. Now we’re shopping for a dragon! Fave location !!

Not as good as it used to be. There was a dead fish squished on the floor in the middle of the aisle. We noticed this early in our visit and forgot to tell the staff as we were leaving.The tortoise was stuck behind its water dish and looked exhausted as it tried frantically to climb out. When we told the staff their response was, “oh yeah, he does that.” Then someone went to the enclosure to help. So rather than shift things around in the tank, they’ll just continue to let the poor thing exhaust itself on a regular basis. The staff was friendly about it, but it just doesn’t make sense that it keeps happening. We haven’t been to this store is a long time, so not sure if it was just an off day or if this is the norm.Aside from this, we did see a groomer finishing up a session, trimming the paw pads of a dog. Both seemed calm and comfortable so we could tell she was doing a good job. Happy to see that and recommend the grooming here.

Store employees are nice. However, I’ve had a problem with the vet people twice now. The first time I scheduled my kitten’s vaccination, they texted me to come in ten minutes early so I did. No one even came out until 13 minutes after. Told me my kitten was too young and had to reschedule. If they actually looked at the information I submitted, they could’ve told me earlier before I came to the store. The second time, I’m less than ten minutes late and they had the audacity to tell me to reschedule. Yet the other time I came early, no one was ready to help.

Petco sucks!!!I decided to see if they had an item in stock for my pet but when I walked past the hamster area, I saw that the Petco employees were feeding oranges to the hamsters???This really irritates me knowing that the employees are against protocol and are not educated on what hamsters can or cannot eat.I suggest you go elsewhere because they are cruel to animals.Petco please do better! This is ridiculous.

If there is negative starts, I will give -5!!On October 14th, 2023, my family brought our two dogs to the PetCo located at Burtonsville for their scheduled grooming appointments. Upon arriving for our appointment, we were informed that the groomer had been injured by the previous dog.We asked if we should reschedule for another day, but the staff took our dogs back for their appointments anyway. Thirty minutes later, we received an urgent call from the grooming staff, requesting that we pick up our dogs immediately. When we arrived, our dogs had received none of the requested grooming services. Additionally, Burtonsville PetCo made no attempt to reschedule or compensate us for the incomplete and botched service.One week later, we discovered our dogs are now labeled as "aggressive" in PetCo's system. When we called to inquire about this restriction on making any future grooming appointments, we were repeatedly put on endless holds, transferred, and eventually disconnected multiple times. It was clear the staff had no intention of addressing our concerns.After reaching out to PetCo's corporate headquarters several times over a three week period, we finally received a response stating our dogs were now "referred out" from that location. No explanation was provided. When we were finally able to speak with the Burtonsville's store manager, she bluntly admitted that after discussing it with the groomer, they decided we a "terrible owners" and purposefully marked our dogs as aggressive in retaliation.This unprofessional and vindictive behavior from Burtonsville PetCo's staff is completely unacceptable.

I was at the store this evening looking for food options for my sick cat who hasn’t had much of an appetite. Kylie and another kind lady (whose name I unfortunately did not ask) went above and beyond suggesting a lot of different options and ideas to get him interested. I came home with, among other foods, a high calorie supplement for senior cats. I would never have thought to buy it because he’s 4. That did the trick!!! I have not seen him this excited about food in a while. I was very happy with the variety of food/ supplements in the store. And even happier with the interaction with these two kind associates. It was very apparent that they are both extremely knowledgeable and caring.

This review is for the grooming salon. I had a recently bad experience at petsmart as they rejected my dog just because he has back straight legs. So I booked with Petco and I was very concerned thinking they would do the same. However, when I took my dog to Petco, Dani was very understandable. My dog is not used to be bath or groomed and it’s even difficult for me to bath him. But Dani was able to do the job very well. When I pick him up she was already leaving and she went back inside to explain me that my dog needs someone with experience to groom him. She told me to book him next month with her and to not take him elsewhere. I loved that she really cared about my dog even though he is very difficult.

Petco has consistently provided great customer services and quality products for my dogs over the years! From the grooming salon to the store in general and available products. I have always consistently had a great experience at Petco over other pet related retailers. Their staff are always kind and really caring for the pets I have brought in to shop with me or to have them groomed. Thank you Petco!!

Didn't have the best/greatest selection. This is one of the smaller Petcos I've visited so maybe that's bc of the size of this store. Many items were not lined up with the price tag on the shelf so I was surprised when turtle water conditioner cost me 15 when I thought on the shelf it said $8. I ended up returning it the next day bc I can get that stuff cheaper through Amazon.

I had an appointment at 8 am with the Grooming services. —I’m not mentioning names because it’s honestly something that you can’t teach people so regardless of name mentioning they would never understand how annoying it is to prepare your dog for grooming, drive to an appointment and no one be there. Yes, no one was there. This is not the first time this has happened here as well, it is the second. I only gave them a second chance cause of availability. —After calling the store a lady answers and says verbatim “I guess you didn’t get the message, we rescheduled your appointment an hour ago because your groomer had car trouble.” —First, how do youRESCHEDULE someone’s appointment with out speaking to them about if they can make that date/time. Second, you’re using a flawed messaging system to communicate instead of calling directly the number on file to inform the client of mishaps. Mind you I did not receive the messages until I arrived back home at 8:20ish.— So she tells me someone is coming in at 9 am and she’ll see if she can take him. I say okay can I bring him in? (Because I’m sitting in the car outside of the store.) She says I’ll have to wait or come back because she isn’t sure she’ll take him. 🙄 Not only did I receive the hour late messages as soon as I got home but 20 min later a call saying I could NOW bring him back. Although Petco’s lifeline with me has run its course, I hope this review inspires a better work ethic amongst the service industry. Rescheduling appointments without consent, not showing to a scheduled appointment and half-tailed accommodations are below standard for me. Good luck.

Giving an updated review: the grooming salon here is fantastic and the staff truly cares about the pets. They are detail oriented and make us feel like family. A special shout out goes to Dani and Amy, they treat my fur baby like their own and always leave us beyond satisfied. Thank you again!Their customer service is phenomenal. Diamond took such good care of my puppy (grooming) and went above and beyond to make both of our experiences seamless and memorable! The staff is also quite knowledgeable and most importantly, kind. The cashier took great care of us and helped me out tremendously. Not to mention, everyone was patient with me as a new dog mom. They really are great.

Week of Christmas, I was looking for a red foot Tortoise and they had one but could not sell bc it needed a vet check. Dana (manager) assured me that if this Tortoise did not return from the vet with a clean bill of health that she would find me a Tortoise . I came into the store to purchase some feeders fish I was told it would be couples minute and someone would be there to help me after waiting all most 15 minutes I was told by the same clerk that no one was coming to helpl so left and stated to same clerk that was poor customer service I have been using this establishment for over 7 years i will be taking my business elsewhere I will no longer be purchasing anything from this business petco located in burtonsville md

I called PetSmart for two simple questions and kept getting redirected back to the Groomers (the only people that answered the phone). They answered three times before telling me they'd take my number and have the manager call me right back. No call.So I called Petco in Burtonsville. Amy answered and asked if I could Hold while she rung a couple customers up. I had no problem with that. She was quick to return and apologized for the "long wait" (it wasn't long at all). She was friendly and extremely helpful with what I needed to know. Thanks Amy!

My dogs love the staff at the Burtonsville store. One of my dogs, who is especially shy around men in baseball caps, especially loves the young man who wears a cap and always wants to greet him when we see him.
