The staff at Homeward Bound are amazing. Our dog Ralph was showing signs that something wasnt right while we were out of town visiting family in the area and they not only got him in, they performed his surgery that night to potentially save his life due to clogged intestines. Most Vets are hard to get in a day ahead, they responded mid afternoon and he was being tested by 6:00 and in surgery around 6:30. I cant say enough about how great they were and how thankful we are to the team for what they did for us.

I just wanted to say with a heart full of complete JOY, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to the staff and Dr Vance for literally saving my Kallie’s life. Kallie was diagnosed with Pyometra and no one would take her to do the surgery! Homeward Bound wasted no time and got her in and had the surgery done asap! Kallie is now back at home and recovering beautifully! Because of you all I still have my best friend with me. There is not enough words to say how truly appreciative I am of all of you!Kallie is now a patient there and I look forward to wellness check up once she is healed. Thank you again so much!

I rarely write reviews but I wanted to today after a very comfortable and smooth experience with Homeward Bound. My dog Teddy has been a patient there since we moved home last year and they have been great the whole time. Today, Teddy had an emergency and they got us in within the hour with the doctor. Dr. Walsh was great in addressing the problem and doing the things necessary to help Teddy. Beth, the tech was absolutely amazing. Teddy is very anxious around other people but he likes her. She was gentle with him but also made us both feel comfortable during the appointment. While we waited for his bloodwork we sat in the waiting room and Kaitlyn and Emma (I believe that was her name) at the front desk were more than friendly and helpful! Every time I call they are ready to help in anyway they can. I can't remember the other doctor's name (I think it started with an S) but she recommended a joint injection for Teddy and it has been life changing for him. I find their prices to be very affordable compared to others as well. Highly recommend this vet for any pet parent but mainly for the parents with anxious dogs/cats as they have curbside so you can wait in your car if you want instead of the waiting room. This is the place you go if you want the best pet care and a great experience all around, I took my dog in to get a surgery and he came out happy as can be even though he doesn't like strangers one bit. The staff are very nice/respectful and they make sure to keep you updated during every moment you're away from your pet (you can always let them know if it's too much). They make sure to give the best care to your pet possible and they don't overcharge a penny.

I really appreciate the great work by the team to fix my little buddy up. Long story short: we had a fire in my apartment complex. My cat was sprinting around due to the alarms. In the process he badly fractured and dislocated his toe on his back left foot. The damage was beyond repair and we were recommended to amputate his toe. Every other animal hospital in a 50 mile radius could not see him for a week-two months out. Homeward bound was my last hope. I called them and they were super nice and got my boy in an hour after our call. He is currently healing and returning to his old self. I would recommend this place to any and everyone. I can’t thank you enough!

Our rescue dog was taken here by her previous owner to be spayed. They botched the spay. This week we took her to the emergency vet and $1500 later we find out she was bleeding because she was in heat and they left an entire ovary during the spay. I’ve never been here in person but if this is the kind of malpractice they have going on. Don’t go.

Called during closed hours to try to get an appointment for my Cat the next day who was experiencing a lot of urinary issues and they called me first thing in the morning and let me drop him off within that same hour! Dr.Vance took amazing care of Mr.Baby and kept me updated with his progress and the procedure they did and he’s already shown so much urinary improvement after one day! Can’t thank the staff enough for their kindness and their dedication to helping my pet!!

I really can't say enough about the experience I've had here since I started coming two months ago when I wasn't able to get into my regular vet. But now you are my regular vet! The hours are amazing the The staff is fantastic and compassionate everyone on the staff!! Blue and I say thanks for all you do!

Do I think I get good care here, yes but talk about price gouging. Librela at other vets in the area is $84. Here, $150. My dogs weight is dosed at 1 vial 15 mg. Amy the practice managers response was, we can send your records to whatever vet you would like. There are plenty of great vets in the area that will not nickel and dime you to death. After calling around other local vets, they are charging between $80 and $87 without a vet tech fee. HWB $150 -84 is $66. Dr. Vince is charging $66 in vet tech fee, that’s more than a well visit card. It went up from $55 to $60.

Every single staff member from the front desk staff, to the techs, to Dr. Sorum was absolutely excellent! I have full confidence that my pup is in the best hands possible and I am very thankful for the time they have spent with me. Everything was clearly explained and all of my questions were answered, which I truly appreciated as a first time dog owner. I would highly recommend Homeward Bound!

We recently moved to the area and wanted a new vet to bring our golden retriever to. Our first experience with this office was she came down with a UTI. They got her in same day and got her treated with antibiotics and pain medication. Since then we’ve been back for an checkup and an allergy test. Tilly LOVES to see her friends at Homeward Bound. The vet techs and doctors have always been so sweet to her, and I always get a call back promptly when I request one. We had a hiccup with the allergy testing and they were very efficient at fixing this issue and getting us the results right away. I recommend them to everyone and we will be bringing our puppy next month when we bring him home.

Homeward Bound took amazing care of our Frenchie, who had a broken leg. They were extremely thorough with all information from the surgery to the aftercare. They took the time to explain all treatment options, which helped us feel comfortable with the aftercare expectations. I'm so glad we found them.

During the holidays, life is stressful enough. Christmas Eve, our cat was not herself and after a trip to pet er it was eventually determined she promptly needed a procedure. Homeward Bound was the perfect answer, providing assurance and quality. The staff made us feel as comfortable as you can in that situation. When the inevitability, or misfortune occurs with your pets, take them here. Thank you for one of the best Christmas gifts.****please do not put out tinsel during the holidays

I will NEVER take my dog here again. My dog broke his leg they told me he needed surgery and that it will be $5,000 and that i need to put $2500 deposit down and the rest needed to be paid in full after surgery because they don't do payment plans. I explained to them I didn't have that much to make a deposit and they tried to guilt trip me about it. I had them put a cast on him and twice now they messed up his cast and this time it landed him in the vet ER because he lost blood flow due to how tight they wrapped it not to mention they wrap him from his neck to his private parts. I ve had nothing but issues with this place.

I had an emergency with my cat when he hurt one of his hind legs. Since I am fairly new to the area, I had to find a veterinarian who could see Sheldon as soon as possible. This place had a full schedule but would work him in. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The place was 10 minutes from where I live. The place is very clean. I left Sheldon there and went home. The staff kept me updated with what was going on with Sheldon. The doctor called after she treated him and told me when I could come to get him. The staff texted me when to pick him up. I let them know when I could be there. Checking out was smooth and fast. I thought my bill was very reasonable. They are open 6 days a week. I highly recommend them.

This is the second time I’ve taken one of my cats here. We had another vet but it was very hard to get an appointment. Dr. Sorum & the rest of the staff are so amazing that I now consider Homeward Bound to be their only vet office. I brought my buddy Max in today. He was abused as a kitten & has extreme anxiety. He was a little hissy at the vet but Dr. Sorum handled him so gently. You can tell she knows what she’s talking about. She’s kind & very understanding. If possible in the pet’s case, she allows you to take a conservative approach to your animal’s treatment which is really helpful when you’re low on cash. The staff, especially the vet tech was wonderful too. I’m grateful for how at ease that made my cat & myself too.

I’m gonna really try not to make this a super long review because I went through ALOT before I found Homeward but they saved my girl Mollie’s life at a moments notice the day after Christmas. It was looking like I was gonna have to put her down after 2 ER visits and high estimates for surgery from all across MD. My cat had unfortunately eaten some Christmas tinsel, which I wasn’t aware the dangers off because Mollie is my first cat. This was my first Christmas with Mollie as I just got her in February from the shelter. So I really didn’t know the girl was gonna go chow down on some tinsel hanging high on the banister but unfortunately she went to town on it and it got stuck in her intestines and caused an obstruction. As you can imagine, every other place gave me estimates that were through the roof outrageous and I felt so defeated until I came across Homeward. They were able to get her in the SAME DAY I called and did the surgery same day for a price that was EXTREMELY doable for the average 1 income household. They literally saved her life! I still can’t believe how lucky me and Mollie got finding them. They were the BEST! Every single person in there. They made me feel so comfortable because of their genuineness and warm hearts. You can just feel it and can tell they are huge animal lovers. Thank you guys so much for what you did for us. Thank you for not charging the price of a vehicle to save an animals life. Thank you for giving me a 2nd chance with my girl to never ever ever purchase another piece of tinsel. Thank you thank you thank you!! I can’t believe Mollie is cuddled up with me right now! I felt so defeated after being turned down so many times for booked out schedules.. or her “not being a patient of theirs” or estimates only the wealthy folk could afford.. cause WHERE EXACTLY AM I SUPPOSE TO GET THAT KIND OF MONEY FROM MA’AM.. (sorry, I got ptsd from this) but thank you guys for NOT being those people! I swear to god just THANK YOU! And if I didnt make it clear enough, we thank you so much! This was a Christmas miracle for sure and Mollie is doing so good! I can’t stop looking at her cause like sis… you were a goner for sure 😂 ol tinsel eating a**.. I can joke about it now but at the time I was completely devastated and destroyed! I’m so freaking happy right now! My girl is sitting right here in all her cone headed glory alive and WELL 🙌🏾 won’t he do it.

Very caring vet for your pets. They are friendly when you walk in and also on the phone. They take very good care to make sure your pet feels as comfortable as possible. Our chocolate lab gets really anxious, and they are very understanding of it and don't get frustrated. We are very happy with how they treat our pets and we have used them as well in the past to come straight to our house. This is an awesome service they have available.We have had a lot of bad experiences with other vets just trying to upsell every service but this is not what you will get at Homeward Bound. Take your pet in for a routine visit or vaccination so you can see for yourself. They are great! Whether it's an at home or in office visit its very worth giving them a try.

I called for a minor emergency for my dog and they informed me they take walk-ins, which is extremely hard to come by in Harford County, and wanted to help as soon as I called.I had Dr. Vance and Lily examining my dog and they were absolutely wonderful! I was in and out within 15 minutes, given great explanations, exchanged jokes, and left feeling confident that my dog was cared for. I will 100% be making this my primary vet. *Note: Lily’s humor is AWESOME. Love her!!

The vets here are absolutely wonderful!!! My baby boy had bladder stones and no other vet would help me. The day I was going to have to have him put down I made one last call to Homeward Bound in BelAir. Every other place quoted me at $5000-$6000 with no payment plan or anything...these amazing vets didn't hesitate to do it for $1300!!! They saved my boys life! And stayed till 2 hours after closing to make sure he was taken care of!!! This will be my vet from now on!!! Thank you so much Homeward Bound!!!!

We love this vet! The staff is always so kind and it’s clear they care for your pet! When we made the hard decision to put our baby girl down, the vet was very understanding and gave us all the options.unfortunately it was best to put her down. They did this the same day and put us in a room with chocolates for our dog to enjoy 😉

We have been having Homeward Bound come to our house and see our dogs for many years now.., I have never had a problem with them.. They are very efficient and compassionate in how they treat your animals. Kristen is a very caring person and we rate them very highly. She is very knowledgable. 3 years ago we had to put one of our dogs down and she took care of it for us. She let us be right there for Angel's last moments and didn't pressure us with time or anything. She helped us thru the whole process.. Our dogs have always felt very welcomed with them and love when they see the RV pull up.., they know it's their time to see the doctor. We just give a big shout out of Thank You for all you do for us and all your customers. We highly recommend Homeward Bound to everyone who cares about their pets. If you have questions they take the time to answer them for you and make sure you understand everything going on. They do such a great job.. Can't say enough about them and their service.

My Blu has been through the ringer the past week. He had a corncob stuck in his intestines. I highly highly recommend Homeward Bound Veterinary Services for God forbid any pet emergencies or just regular vet care. The Vet was so empathetic and she got him in and in to surgery within minutes, which in his case every minute counted! If you’ve ever had to go to an animal hospital you know it can cost as much as a used vehicle but she did it for a fraction of what the unnamed hospital in Bel Air was going to charge. She also was so thorough in explaining everything and actually took the time to listen and get details from me. I will never go anywhere else!

Update 2/2023: We've since had Riley spayed @HBV. She did chew her incision, and they told us to come right over. They fixed her right up, we were in and out. We've also called for med refills, and general questions. Everyone is nice and professional. They've answered my emails promptly as well. Riley is fearful and needs a muzzle. They handle her so well. They will Def be our lifelong Vet!So very impressed with Dr. Sorum and staff. My husband and daughter took our rescue pup in today, who is working on her socialization skills, so we were a bit nervous. They handled her like a charm, and were so informative and helpful. They took their time with our dog, and explained everything. Even before our appt, I had contacted them twice thru Facebook with questions and they got back to me quickly. Thanks for making what we thought would be a stressful experience, not at all stressful for Riley or ourselves. We look forward to coming back!
