I am in love with the photos that JB captured for me! JB was so patient with Dale and didn't mind when Dale preferred sitting in his lap rather than getting his picture taken. The print I received is unbelievably gorgeous, it has a pearl finish. I am so excited to hang my print up and I will cherish it forever. JB's studio is spacious (and has a parking lot!) and he really took his time ensuring we got at least one perfect photo! This was such a fun experience and I am so happy with the photos he got of Dale.

JB was super patient with my senior (and very loud) little dog. Despite his near constant barking he was able to get some really great pictures that captured the little man’s personality. He also had lots of treats, and even tried helping me get a small tick off my dog’s face that jumped on him outside right before the shoot! I would 100% recommend working with him to get a meaningful, memorable set of photos of your pup!

I met JB through the dog rescue I was working with and saw the work he was doing for the dogs. He was not just taking photos of the dogs but making art with their pictures. I had one of my dogs photographed by him for an event and had to go to his studio to do so. He was very pleasant to work with and was great with my dog. The outcome of the session was amazing and I would recommend him to anyone seeking a photographer. He is very knowledgeable and his bedside manner is 100%.*Follow up was also fast, which is not always the case with photographers.

This was an awesome experience. John did a phenomenal job taking our dogs photos. He truly captures the personality of our chocolate lab. After the session was over I was beyond happy with the results. He is not only talented but a genuine nice guy. We wish we lived closer but it was well worth the travel.

I had an amazing experience at the Puptrait Studio. I asked for a very specific type of photo and John made my vision come to life. He was very professional, the studio was very clean, and he was so patient with my fur baby. I brought my dogs up from DC to JB's studio and they had a great time!! He manages to let their personalities shine through whatever pictures he takes. My girl is usually exceedingly camera shy but he persuaded her to look at the camera and obtained some great shots. My sensitive-new-age-male dog even had fun at the studio. To get border collies to sit still, much less, pose for the camera, is always a challenge but JB managed it.JB also takes the time to discuss the prints - what you want, where you will hang it, the finish, etc. The pictures are FABULOUS and my friends and fellow dog lovers are very impressed at the quality of the shots! I have been and will continue to recommend JB.

What a great service! JB came to our house in NOVA on two days notice, and took photos of our Akita both inside and out. He was so patient with our sweet, but independent minded dog, who just does not listen well and is camera-shy to boot. The photos he procured were worth the effort! Puptrait Studio took pictures of my pit mix Sage last year in May. We did the shoot at Druid Hill Park and it went great. Sage can be a little crazy at times, but I was so amazed at the photos they were able to capture. We loved the photos so much we have them on canvases in our home and look at them everyday. I would recommend Puptrait to anyone looking to have some great photos of their pups.

Puptrait studio did a wonderful job doing portraits of our Reilly shortly before she passed away from cancer.Staff were understanding and expert at working with a dog that was not well. Now my family has gorgeous portraits to remember our puppy by.I only wish we had thought to do this frequently throughout her life and not just before the end.

I discovered one of J.B. Shepard’s stunning photographs while randomly surfing online. The exceptional artistry was captivating and I had to find out more. I was surprised to learn that his studio is located in Baltimore and better yet, accepting commissions. I was excited about the possibility of having my dog photographed by an artist of this caliber, so I took the opportunity and booked a photo session.J.B. was friendly, professional, and so patient and understanding with my senior dog. He was able to work around her limitations and make her feel comfortable. The portraits he captured of her are gorgeous, and truly show the essence of her personality. I’m so glad I made this decision and am thrilled to add a beautiful J.B. Shepard original to my art collection. JB did a fantastic job photographing our two dogs. The photos came out great, he had tons of fun, creative ideas for the shoot, and knew everything about the print ordering. Also, they somehow listened to everything he said even though they never listen to me. I would definitely recommend JB and the studio to everyone with a dog.

Just want to say it was a pleasure working with JB and the Puptrait Studio. My dog Edgar Allan recently had a fun photo shoot for Baja Ponchos with JB. The studio was perfect for dog shoots. There was plenty of water and treats to be had. JB was very patient with my pup Edgar. It was wonderful bc I could tell Edgar was enjoying himself and completely relaxed. If you're looking for a place to have great photos taken of your fur-baby, I'd recommend the Puptrait Studio any day.

Brie the Biscuit had an amazing time here at her photoshoot! Not only was she calmed by the light and jazzy background music but she was thrilled to sit pretty for such an amazing photographer (and his tasty treats)! The short: I am in LOVE with the prints I received from JB. The artistry of the photos and quality of prints are unmatched from other places I checked out. JB is committed to a high quality product, and has an excellent artistic eye. I am SO glad I followed his advice to only bring one dog in at a time. Seriously, this guy knows what he’s doing.The extended: Again, I am in LOVE with the final products after working with JB. If you want a cute picture of your dog/dogs, go to JC Penny. If you want your precious pups turned in to ART, then JB is your man. He spent a ton of time with me ahead of, during, and after the shoot to make sure he delivered on what I wanted. I had 5 goldens I wanted to shoot. The best piece of advice JB gave me was to bring them each in individually. The importance of this didn’t occur to me, but made sense when he explained it, and as soon as I brought the first dog in it was immediately clear he knew what he was talking about. JB is very serious about his craft and the quality of the end product – you simply cannot get the quality to his standard with multiple dogs, and let’s face it, for the money you’re putting out that needs to be your standard too! JB was patient with me (I am indecisive, perfectionistic, and ask far too many questions) and my dogs (varying degrees of obedience!). I would definitely recommend JB and the Puptrait studio.

JB and the Puptrait Studio are true professionals! My puggle Mac was chosen to be one of the Mutts of Mobtown and we shot at Patterson Park pagoda. Mac was a handful of course because he wanted to run and play, but Puptrait was able to take some amazing shots and were super patient and sweet to Mac! I highly recommend them and it is really nice to have professional shots of my little guy- something I will always cherish. If you have a fur child, please consider photos through Puptrait studio!

My mother surprised me with a private photoshoot for Zoey on my birthday (02/02/2020). I made contact with the photographer and initial thought on this guy was that he seems cool. He went over the instructions and gave me some tips on the phone. On the day of the photoshoot, finding the place was admittedly difficult to find but i managed to get there early and we chatted went outside and so before we did the photos. The studio was a nice sized room. The photographer was a really cool and friendly guy, just barely knowing him, you can definitely tell his passion for photographing is very strong and as well as is love for dogs.The photoshoot lasted probably 1 and a half hours and for the rest of the time we chilled. During the 2 week waiting time (partially my fault for paying at a later date) The photographer kept me updated with everything. When i got my portraits i was amazed with the level quality and effort that he puts in to ensure top notch work on the portraits.It may be expensive but it is definitelty worth it. Besides it was made in the USA so it is made to last forever.

I didn't know what to get my boyfriend for Christmas but I knew he was obsessed with his Bull Mastiff, Remy. JB with Puptrait came out and was amazing. Not only was the final product even better then anticipated but they spent hours getting just the right shot. They WILL NOT disappoint. JB did an amazing job with my golden doodle Hudson! He was very patient and professional. He explained the entire process in detail via phone consultation. He also repeated this information the day of shooting. Therefore, everyone had an understanding and was on the same page. I didn’t feel blind-sided at all.JB even shoots on some holidays! (Hudson’s shoot was on the 4th of July). JB shot Hudson’s shoot very fast! We were done within an hour (although he gives up to 2 hours for shooting time). I received the final edited proofs of Hudson’s shoot in 6 days! JB is very detailed and displayed great precision when editing. Hudson’s shoot didn’t appear rushed at all!The images exceeded my expectations! I immediately chose the photo that I wanted printed and production on the image began right away. I chose the 24x36 Acrylic photo framing (expensive but well worth it as this photo is a work of art that will be showcased in our home forever). We will have another pup soon and plan to work with JB again once our pup is 6 months. This was a refreshing experience, as you never know what to expect when working with someone for the first time. I highly recommend Puptrait!

My photos look like something out of a movie poster. Absolutey LOVE LOVE LOVE the pix they made of my little Poochems! I stil lcan’t get over how cheap it was. We went with the crocodile backing and saved so much. I looked and even the Ikea frames are crazy expensive at that size!
