Howl staff were so helpful when I stopped in the other day to pick up a very large dog crate. They helped me get it down all the way from the top shelf, and that’s definitely above and beyond when it’s a 42” giant heavy box requiring a ladder and two people to retrieve. Prices were fair and service was quick. Will be back when I need dog food.

I had an amazing experience with the team at Howl. I was visiting from out of state and my dog got bit by a deer tick. Unfortunately, his monthly didn't cover deer ticks and so I went in to get Wondercide as a preventative until I could get him to my vet and figure out a better long term preventative and discuss any possible exposure to Lyme disease. To say that my nerves were on edge would be an understatement. I felt so sad and overwhelmed, thinking that my dog wasn't protected and that I that I hadn't considered he might be exposed to different things when traveling to different states. The blond girl working there that day was sooooo amazing with me. She not only helped me find what I was looking for but listened to me as a human being and was very empathetic to what I was feeling. As I cried, I told her the story and that I had gone to a vet nearby but that it was really sketchy and unhygienic. She took the time to listen even helped me look for another vet I could visit and also told me about her experience moving to this state with her dog and the preventative it was on.People forget details of events, but they never forget how you made them feel. Thank you for making me feel heard, for your understanding, helpfulness and kindness that day.

I spend 200.00 weekly on my dog's food ... I was looking for a place close to me for emergency... Although Howl has the food, their service was HORRIBLE!N No one helped me, asked what I needed ... Just ignored me ... When checking out, I was asked if I had a Howl card .. which I replied no ... I wasn't asked if I wanted/needed one ... Baron's has NOTHING to worry about ... We won't be going back to Howl

Located conveniently in sexy downtown Hampden (hey, that exists!), it's filled with all the best products to make your dog or cat healthy and happy.Nice people will help you, pets are allowed, and there is water for drinking.Seriously good raw food, freeze-dried treats, and everything a well-heeled hairy (or bald)(my American Hairless Terrier loved it)friend could want or need.

Very friendly staff. High quality products, but if you're not interested in food or litter that isn't kind of a specialty brand, you may not find what you're looking for. Howl sells the best cat litter ever and now they have a rewards program for discounts. Great place. Support local businesses!

I really adore this local shop and all the caring employees. They work hard for the customer because they love the animals. Great products, very knowledgeable, amazing treat selection, and they support local companies. They are also expanding into small animal and chicken products. I choose to shop here to connect to Baltimore and support small business over box stores. It matters and there are endless rewards!

Love the owners and staff! They really have pets and their best interests in mind. They have some great products for animals on limited ingredient diets, raw, etc. I love the agility set and puzzle feeders I've bought from them. Their raw bar is also a must-- lots of high quality treats like beef trachea, Turkey necks, and more

Absolutely love this pet store! They are one of the few to have Primal Raw food for my cats, as well as clay free litter. The toy selection is good, too. They also have points rewards for loyal customers! Definitely recommend stopping by.

Nice store, I had a pleasant experience. They have a good selection of food, treats and toys for our dogs. Wish they had a bit more for cats, but I may have missed where it was. I'd definitely recommend and will definitely go again in the future.

There are also reward programs for certain types of food that really helps out. Ask the staff for samples of food find out what best suits your dog or cat!

We stopped in here on a whim and so glad we did!This little store, tucked away in Hamden is wonderful, just absolutely wonderful. The gentleman that was on that day was super nice, knowledgeable and helpful. Prices were sooo much better than even those “big box” stores and we were able to pick up things for our one dog who suffers from anxiety for a better price than anywhere else we’ve looked into.We will be going back for more treats ( no chems and all natural!!) for our furbabies real soon!

I placed an order for raw dog food while standing at the counter paying for a previous order. The clerk took down the order but did not tell me that the order had to be prepaid. She also over charged me quite a bit for the order I bought because she put in the wrong information. The manager was there and fortunately corrected the error but he also neglected to tell me that I had to prepay. So now I do not have dog food for the coming 2 weeks. Thanks, Howl, I needed this headache.

I understand that COVID is a trying time for us all, but those of us who are fortunate enough to still be able to operate our businesses should be operating in a compassionate, appreciative and grateful way! After being excited to bring my two small children to shop at “Hawl” For the FIRST time, after purchasing our small little kitten my spirit is broken! The excitement that we all had entering the store we did not have leaving! Not only was it hard to locate an entrance once we did we did not feel “wanted” by the staff who finally came to the door to announce “house keeping rules” before even welcoming us! My small children were not allowed in the store at the same time and was asked to stand outside on the loading dock that we had to claimed to even make it to the door! My children are 5 & 8 might I add. So we opted to wait for the other to exit so that we could all enter at the same time. While waiting we couldn’t help but notice the attentiveness given to all the other customer BUT us! When we finally did enter we were not greeted with a pleasant tone or attitude! We got NO help and was not assisted in any way! The usual “can I help you with finding anything” did not happen! No one cared to even ACT like they wanted to assist. This was our first time in this establishment and would be our last. The prices!! Jesus! No place for new pet owners during a pandemic! Nobody showed any interest in us being there which made the atmosphere icky and we wanted to leave! When we decide to leave no one responded when I thanked them and said good bye. Not a sound. You could hear the soft meow of my cat and a drop of a pin fall. As we were leaving a staff person rushed past us to assist a customer that was pulling up at the loading dock while we were leaving. They were on first name basis so I’m assuming they were much more happier to see her then they were to see us! Very uncomfortable FIRST impression, and we did not feel welcomed! They have put a bad taste in our mouths for that establishment and the other ones surrounding them. I can’t help but to feel like “new customers aren’t welcomed!” I hate that my children had to have their excited spirits broken because the atmosphere was so awkward and uncomfortable! Suns Shopping turned SAD!!!

My daughter and I felt very uncomfortable shopping there today. The sign out front said to come to the back entrance which felt strange. We knocked on the door and when someone came to the door made us feel very unwanted. I know with covid rules need to be followed. The employee made us feel like coming in to shop was a huge problem letting us know that they discourage shopping in person. It was like he was blocking the door hoping we just went away. Having a neighborhood pet store is important but making your customers feel wanted is important too. I was very disappointed and felt uncomfortable shopping. The cashier was very nice but I wont go back maybe after covid we will try again

Howl is a pet haven!! They only carry responsibly produced, extremely healthy food for your pets. I have 2 gatos and I buy all of their cat food and treats here. Occasionally I pet sit a dog and he loves our little trips here for duck feet and bully sticks. The staff is so knowledgeable both about the products and pet care. They have a rewards program! Who doesn't love rewards! Everything you need for your pets they have. Great community small business.

We are new to the puppy game and after recently adopting a little shorkie named Cubby we realized we have no idea what we are doing. Thankfully Howl is a short walk from our home so we have been visiting it almost daily to find awesome treats, toys, gear, and most importantly, great advice from everyone who works there. We are so thankful to have such a great pet store in Baltimore but, really, it's more than a store, it's a community hub full of caring, knowledgeable people. Larry was especially helpful for new dog owners like us and he gave us simple training habits to try out with our bad boy.Pro tip: They have a reward program so make sure you sign up.
