Vince the owner/manager was extremely helpful with several questions I had to install hardware around the door frame and . He answered all my questions even simple ones , to do the project. He sold only what I needed and saved me money with advice not to buy more things I thought I needed. It’s hard to find his level of expertise these days in any big box DIY stores Thanks Vince.

Vince... a very gregarious and knowledge owner/salesperson. It was a pleasure visiting his store for the first time and meeting him. I learned it was a family business that he's now run for decades. The store is packed to the ceiling and displayed attractively out front, with just about everything you'd need/expect in a hardware store (not lumber yard.)I'd called in and he was able to salvage the correct part for my lawn mower from one that was located "out back." He saved me approx. $20 by getting me the handle I needed, which didn't have it's own individual part number, without having to by the whole self-propel control unit.I will return.

If you need your lawn mower fixed, take it somewhere else and save your money, time, and frustration. After $125 and two attempts to get my mower fixed it still doesn't work. Avoid the incompetence and attitude I had to endure!

I was totally surprised by the aggressive behavior of the owner today. I came by to purchase several items and I had to take an emergency call as I parked along the store. The owner came over and demonstrated unfriendly and rudeness behavior. His unprofessional conduct was so upsetting that I decided not to come anymore. Dr saar

Owners are beyond rude and this place is full over overpriced items that are horrible quality to between with. I’ve seen them be very racist to certain groups. Very disappointing to see in this era. It’s not surprising other people have said the same.

We visit my parents every month coming in from Ann Arbor. We’re so spoiled by two of the most incredible hardware stores. I’m not sure why we keep going into Ayd’s. I guess it’s out of convenience, but they never have what we’re looking for (leaf bags in October for one) and they act like they’re doing you a favor to answer a question. On this visit we needed one bolt to fix a chair for my dad. They close at 5:00, my husband ran to the door at 4:55 and was told they were closed. The man was so rude saying they’d already pulled things in from outside. The kicker is it wasn’t a kid, it was an older gentleman who seemed to be someone in a leadership role, maybe even the owner. Good for them, based on reviews it looks like they make people in this neighborhood happy, but next time they’re in Ann Arbor they should stop by the legendary Stadium Hardware and see what customer service and a well stocked store looks like.

I went to have 7 keys made. 1 didn't work. Went back to get a replacement and the guy working there didn't even offer up an apology. He did replace the key but the replacement didn't work either. Terrible customer service and they can't even perform a basic function. Their store hours are also terrible. Won't be going back.

Called 4 times about renting a lawnmower. They never could tell me when availablility would be, could not reserve, got 3 differ prices from 4 different people, couldn't tell me what brand the mower is, very disorganized, disappointing and won't deal with again.

It's a small place that has everything you need. Just walk in, tell them what you want and they'll have you out of there in the time it takes to walk from one end of Home Depot to the other. Free parking. They also fix lawn mowers and rent equipment. Great place.

Great store, great staff, great selection. I'm always amazed by how effectively they are able to take care of what I need, from the availability of products to services. I've learned to expect they'll have what I need when I walk in. From a tiny decorative copper screw to the ability to cut glass and rescreen a window. Best neighborhood store around.

With Vince and Justin providing outstanding customer service, I experienced same-day storm window AND screen repair. (I’m assuming not everyone should expect this all the time. This is a wonderful old-fashioned hardware store and a great asset to the community.

A great local hardware store. I try to go to this site whenever I can. The staff is very friendly and helpful! It is great for little bits and bobs around the house. And terrific for your mowers needs!!

I love this hardware store! It’s like going to Mayberry. We’re having two hedge clippers sharpened for $10 (total!) Better than getting new ones.(I have to shoutout to Jack - great tattoo!)

I recently moved to the neighborhood and have stopped by Ayd Hardware several times now. So far, despite its size, they have always stocked what I needed, and in several brands. The people who work there are just the right amount of friendly and helpful without being overbearing or intrusive. I plan to give them my business for a long time.

This is a great neighborhood hardware store. I have purchased dry ice after hurricanes here, gotten screens fixed, and popped in to get a specific bolt for automotive projects. They are super helpful and a neighborhood asset.

Neighborhood indepey hardware store. Good especially for small engine repair and minor services. Also strong on lawn and garden and on customer service. Not a good place to buy tools - I once gota socket set that stripped on first use. Worth your business, especially if you don't want to support big corporate hardware chains.

When i first met the owner in the store he appeared top be a customer service guy until he made his sale and sold me a lawn mower that stopped working the same dat. He also serviced another mower that was only good for two uses after leaving the store. I took them back so he could help me figure out the issues and his attitude became extremely nasty, aggressive and very argumentative. He aggressively communicated to me that he doesnt think anything is wrong with the mowers as if i would load up two lawn mowers qnd drive to his store with completely functional mowers. After the way he treated me in that store today I will never spend another dollar there.

Ayd Hardware is within walking distance from my house and I've been a customer for decades. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The inventory is perfect for everyday hardware items and it sure beats making the long trek to a big box store.
