I usually do some shopping here and some out in town. A few things to touch base on that I've noticed.Always check the exp dates, typically I find a few items that are expired, so for someone who is in a rush they may not see it. The vegetables and fruits are usually hit or miss, usually more miss than anything. I've just stopped buying those here and prefer out in town. The baggers are super nice. I've chatted with a few of them as we walk to the car. My biggest concern is that they have to split a portion of their tips with the head bagger. How does that even make sense? What if that head bagger isn't there? He still gets a portion of their tips. Most of those baggers are school aged children who are saving their money. This is 100% absurd and should absolutely be stopped. For the people complaining about self-check out on Mondays, be happy that they're open on Mondays. They weren't always opened. If you don't want to scan your items yourself (and "not get paid for it") then you are more than welcome to go to another store. No one is making you self-check yourself out. That's your decision. Most of us appreciate the commissary just being opened on the day they are were always closed on.

Definitely a convenient location, definitely smaller than other commissaries but people don’t look at the military population for the area and don’t realize there isn’t a need for a larger commissary for the area especially since there’s a larger one 30 min away. Never have an issue finding anything we need. Employees are always super helpful and kind.

Small commissary compared to others that serve larger communities like Ft Meade. Pros: Good deals on staples and non perishables as well as frozen foods. They have a Freedoms Choice brand that offers something like off brand slightly lower pricing than the name brands the commissary has historically offered as sole options. Cons: Perishables like produce and meats tend to be a roll of the dice for freshness but careful selection can mitigate that.Update: commissary follows the same guidance as other DOD installations and agencies. Current COVID level is low so masks aren't enforced but social distancing is still encouraged. They also still have separators in place at checkout and wipe down between customers. Also this commissary is now open Mondays for self checkout. 🙂Uploaded a few pictures of what they call the "managers specials". Burgers and corned beef briskets at seriously slashed prices . Had to stock up at these rates!!Telling you..can't miss. This week chicken on sale !!

Commissaries are great for cost. The savings is significant. Staff is generally pleasant. Fellow shoppers are respectful and courteous.Quality of produce is very poor. I am not surprised when I find an onion, bell pepper, or other item is rotten when I cut into it.Additionally, commissary baggers for work tips only. I find it quite annoying that I need to remember cash before I go grocery shopping. I don't mind paying. I dislike needing to have cash.I've attached pictures of produce I bought. I took these pictures two hours after getting back from the commissary.

Very disappointing shopping trip to the commissary. Not only were very common food items unavailable ie Turkey Italian sausage, Chobani plain Greek yogurt, vegan cheese, but then we had to stand in line 30 minutes to check ourselves check ourselves out, with only 5 machines available. Another benefit being cut back on.

Terrible management. Employees not helpful- they will pretend not to see you and walk away. Lack of variety. Few items, MUCH less selection than other comparable stores. Even in usual items, this store is OFTEN out-of-stock. And be sure to check expiration dates- frequently they sell expired items, especially diary. Isn't the cheapest either.

Having had the pleasure of shopping at many a commissary in my 30+ years with the Navy, I can honestly say some of the folks that work here have serious attitude problems and forget that they have jobs here to support the service members and their families who are either still serving or those whom have gone before us. Hey manager, do us all a favor and conduct some mission statement training with your employees and set some expectations accordingly. Other than that, the selection is satisfactory and prices are competitive. Not exactly a Bravo Zulu, but a good start.

The commissary is always clean but it always seems understocked. I rarely find everything I need.

Self checkout should not be allowed for a $300 checkout. Took forever, at least you could offer a discount to pay me for doing your work. Customer service line does not need to be backed up for a big order like this on a Monday, it was already backed up!

Place serves moldy food to military families. Just know thats whats going on. Meanwhile the only employees there make no money so they just profit, largely off of these families away from there homes.

3.5 stars. A smaller commissary compared to most, with a modest selection that is frequently out of the more popular items on the weekends. Annoyingly, closed on the traditional Mondays, where many commissaries now remain open 7 days per week. There is a deli counter, but no bakery counter. There is oddly a sushi counter, which I rarely see anyone at on Saturday or Sunday when I go. They moved from a smaller building across the street, but somehow managed to have fewer aisles and a smaller selection. The freezer section is larger though. Staff is friendly. Prices are good. Watch for expired food, something I've encountered a few times. Parking is good on the weekend, but space is limited on the weekdays because the new clinic shares the parking lot. The deli has Boars Head meats. Recently the self check lanes were reduced in number because of a problem with the scales.

Medium sized commissary— good selection of meats. Good deli. FFV good, as well.Staff are generally helpful; Some go out of their way to help you find what you are looking for.

Overall good store with lots of deals and a good variety. Their reduced meat section always has a lot available. Only negative is that I wish there were more USDA Organic meat options or that they were easier to find. Could only find a small chicken selection and ground beef.

Clean and well-kept, but the inventory is low and there isn't a great selection of anything. Produce is relatively fresh, but if you need fresh herbs you should go somewhere else. Small selections on things like salad dressings, pasta, and soups.

Newer commissary, small but better than nothing. Store appeared to be well kept, didn't get a good look at the produce or meats while there. Commissaries used to have different items depending on location but that has changed in the last 10 or so years. They all mirror each other with the same stock. The only commissary I have seen with some unique items is Forest Glenn in the MD area.

This commissary is the most mismanaged commissary ever. The produce is not fresh. I have to ask constantly if there is fresher stuff in the back. When I look at packaged tomatoes, half the time they are rotten on the bottom. The worker then goes and retrieves fresher stuff. The shelves are not stocked well. Half the time the shelves for the most common items are not present. The dairy case is not well monitored for expiration dates. Milk is very often stocked beyond expiration date. Sad state for a wonderful base.

This is a small store. They are understaffed due to budget cuts. While there are many empty areas on the shelves, it’s not all the staff’s fault. They have a contracting company (Pride) who are supposed to stock a lot of the items. They can only stock what is shipped. The warehouse sends out what they can when they get it in. Do not blame management or the store workers! They can only do what they can do.The meat department has a new manager and they are clean and well stocked. Although they leave a little too much fat cap on some of the meat cuts. The produce department is going through a transition and will get it together soon. They are all still figuring it out. If you ask, they will get produce out of the back if you don’t like what you see. There are awesome store workers who will stop whatever they are doing to go find a product for you even if they aren’t working in that area. They have assigned areas and it’s not their job to stock out the milk or frozen if they are working in produce or doing their after their working hours vendor stocking. The cashiers can be a little slow at times and the front end supervisor needs to learn to open more registers when they have a line, even if they have to jump on to clear the line.It irritates me when I see people complaining about a store that is a privilege to shop at. Not everyone can shop there as you have to be part of the military community and be a valid ID card holder. Be happy we have it. It is appropriated funds and Congress can take it away if and when the budget calls for it. Keep it in mind that you can also have your individual access revoked if you show cause. I have been allowed to shop at the commissary and NEX/PX/AAFES system for over 40 years. Never take it for granted and cut them a little slack. Especially now when you have people who are clearing out the shelves because of the current crisis. Don’t blame the workers/Management. Blame the hoarders who only think about themselves.

Many items are frequently out of stock. Dairy products are offered beyond their expiration date. Management refuses to provide adequate shelf space to meet demand while slow-selling items occupy needed shelf space. Wish I could provide a more positive review but this facility does not yet deserve better.

This commissary is like a best kept secret! Although only authorized people can access it via military benefits, its EXTREMELY clean and the staff feels like family. Spacious aisles to avoid bumping with carts and great lighting. I didn't see the produce, but I could smell the strawberries from where I was!

Although a small commissary, the Annapolis facility is well-stocked with all the everyday items, dairy products, meats, cleaning supplies, specialty goods, produce, and dry goods you could ever want. This commissary is clean and well-kept. Having been a public liability claims adjuster many years ago for my first job out of college, I tend to look carefully at everything in a grocery store. The cashiers, the employees who stock the merchandise and the folks who verify IDs are very professional and helpful.I am very grateful the we have this Commissary here in Annapolis.

Remember Tom Peter's bestseller "In Search of Excellence," in which he profiled companies that excelled in customer service while increasing their bottom line? I recalled this business Bible last week when I returned home from the Annapolis Naval Commissary and couldn't locate a grocery bag. I phoned the store, was given Customer Service and a patient woman asked which check-out I used and who put the groceries in the car. She checked with the employees; no luck. She then gingerly suggested that I search my car "one more time," although I had insisted I had covered every inch. "Please come back and we'll take care of you," she concluded, as warmly as if she were inviting me to Thanksgiving dinner. You know the rest: Of course, the missing bag was in the CRV, in full view. The point is: Great customer service. No accusations. No apologies needed or given (she's likely heard this story before). But a quick offering to "take care of me," left as good a taste in my mouth as all the treats in their gourmet bakery and other super selections." Way to go Navy Commissary.

It's nice for a Commissary. A nice improvement over the old one... The selection is also better than the old one, and the layout is better over all. I wish their hours were a little longer, but really, it seems pretty slow in the evenings, so I understand why they close earlier than say the nearby Ft. Meade commissary. Because it is smaller than a lot of commissaries I've visited, I have to comment on the selection... they have almost everything you'd expect in most general purpose grocery stores so they keep their inventory manageable through reduced variety... eg: fewer cerial or coffee options and a smaller cosmetics section, etc.... I still like the store!!

Great small-sized commissary. Has most of what we need and is generally well-stocked. Produce can be hit-or-miss at times. Check the expiration dates on your more-perishable products because they tend to leave things on the shelf too long. They take Apple Pay which is convenient and they have Wi-FI since every commissary I have shopped at in the DoD must have a faraday chage to prevent cell signals! It is nice to be able to sync you grocery list app, text home for a "Hey, do we have blank?", or just price compare.

Nice commissary, lots of selections for gluten free stuff too, you just have to look a little for them :) produce and meat here are great, and the prices can't be beat :) bring a few bucks to tip the baggers, folks, they are all volunteer and don't draw a paycheck!

If is smaller with fewer varieties of all items. It still serves the great purpose to all access to it. I would still recommend it as long as you are bought hopping it to be like Fort Meade.

Friendly and convenient, but there is definitely a stocking problem. They frequently run out of sparkling and Vitaminwater, among other things. One day we went there (NOT pre-holiday,), and they were out of eggs.

Not a very good selection and a lot of the meat, if you don't pay attention, expires the same day or the very next day after purchase. Not a very old building but same old products.

I used to love to go to the commissary at the Navy but lately produces disgusting half the time they don't have what you need when they first opened up the store it was fabulous now they look at you like you're doing them a favor to come in it said the Delta store for the people to come in and out but it's gotten worse in the last year or so it's always nice to see the lady at the front door that you check in she is always so pleasant I very rarely go to Navy Commissary anymore I do most of my shopping at Fort Meade

A medium sized store. It was clean and laid out well. The selection was good and had prices well below the local markets. We have added this store to our shopping.

Small town feel. Best place to shop during the holidays because unlike a larger base/post that lines wrap up and down the aisles this place stays sane.
