Our Australian Shepherd mix puppy has been a student at Chesapeake Dog Training since she was about 3 months old! Meeka started with CDT's puppy training program, attending both group learning sessions and the puppy social. She "graduated" with flying colors, thanks to the wonderful guidance and instruction from trainer Paula! We returned to CDT about 9 months later, after Meeka was struggling to feel confident on her walking (in the busy city). She spent a week with Linda, learned a ton, and now walks with us anywhere! We will definitely continue to take advantage of CDT's programs - not only is it super beneficial to both us and our dog, it's downright fun! The trainers are patient and extremely knowledgeable - but best of all, they treat your dog as if it was their own beloved canine. Thank you for everything, Chesapeake Dog Training!

My 2 knuckle heads love it here. Staff is really great and super helpfull. They are currently working with our family at our home to get our super sized puppy socialized with proper puppy manners. When you take a visit to their facility you will be wowed by the little puppy oasis in Eastport. I want to do my back yard like theirs.

I did some research of all of the dog training options near me and after I ran into Chesapeake Dog Training and read the reviews, I decided to give it a try.Linda was so helpful, she brought me over and gave me and my pup a tour of the facility, discussed goals and how to achieve them and then a plan of attack.I put my 6 month old German Shepherd, Max, through the one week Board and Train. Throughout the week, Linda sent me pictures and videos of her training with Max and him playing with the other dogs. In addition to the pictures and videos, she was very responsive to text messages whenever I reached out, which was really awesome!I picked Max up today and I was beyond impressed with what Linda has achieved in a week. She far exceeded my expectations. Max has improved in so many ways that I can’t wait to bing him back for more. Finally, I really appreciate Linda’s passion for what she does. Max loves being with Linda and I am so comfortable leaving him there. I will continue to train Max and any other dogs I own with Linda and Chesapeake Dog Training! If you’re on the ropes about where to take your pup, look no further. This is the place for you and your furry friend!

We recently took our 100 lb hyperactive Labador to CDT for boarding and obedience training. In our first conversations with Linda, soon after dropping him off, it was evident she had come to understand our dog extremely well. Prior to going to CDT he was impossible to walk on a leash, and wouldn't kennel. Two weeks later he was a different dog, much more relaxed and calm. Linda kept us informed of his progress through pictures and texts which was very comforting. We couldn't be any happier with Linda and her training.

What an amazing trainer! Truly a pleasure to work with! I highly recommend Linda to train or board your dog. She is professional, kind & will amaze you with her training capabilities. We sent our 1yr old lab puppy to work with Linda for two weeks, & our dog has come back to us with an unbelievable amount of obedience training. The best advice I can give any dog owner is to send their dog to Linda, trust her knowledge (as she knows what she's doing) & follow Linda's after care instructions (which she gave us verbally, but she also gave us instructions in writing/hard copy so we have something to refer back to if need be).Oh, also, regarding price, for what she does, her pricing is extremely reasonable.Don't make the mistake we did and go to the cheapest place you can find.We did that first and might as well flushed our money down the drain.I wish we had gone with Linda from the beginning. She has earned our business for life! Thank you Linda!Fondly,Ali

I absolutely recommend the trainers at Chesapeake Dog Training to anyone that is looking for dog training from some wonderful trainers on a personal level. We rescued a one year-old Weimeraner. Tessa was a fantastic dog, full of love, but also full of energy and without any training. It was a chore to walk her, and our arms/shoulders would ache from how hard she pulled on the leash.I have no idea what we would have done if we had not found E, our trainer from Chesapeake Dog Training. In just one session, E had Tessa much more under control and we were able to work with Tessa and teach her how to behave. The one-on-one, private sessions were fantastic for us. E was very flexible, worked around our schedules, and handled the lessons in a terrific fashion. With each lesson, E would provide new skills for us to work on with Tessa, then send us home with a detailed, personalized assignment sheet of "homework" and skills to practice outside the lessons. 6 weeks later it's like we have a totally different dog. She's still fun, loving and full of energy. But she is brilliantly trained on the leash and much more fun to be with in outdoor settings. We can't thank the trainers at Chesapeake Dog Training enough and would recommend them to anyone. Thanks E!

I can't say enough good things about Chesapeake Dog Training. Our Trainer, E, was Amazing. We had adopted a female Lab mix from the local SPCA and although we had a small 12 pound mixed terrier already we wanted to make sure we started out on the right foot with the larger dog.E was fantastic at helping us learn how to connect with the dog and two months on from picking up a lively 4 month old puppy from the shelter we have a great dog that can sit and go down on command and walks to heel around the neighborhood without distraction.E's style of teaching is calm and informative and she is a delight to work with. From easy scheduling to a meeting in a variety of different training environments she was always extremely friendly, helpful and identified many character traits of our new and older dog that would have taken us much longer to find out without the training. We now feel infinitely more confident to be in a variety of situations with both of our dogs and have the tools to make sure we are always in control.I thoroughly recommend Chesapeake Dog Training for anyone thinking of getting a dog and wants to start out on the right foot or that has a dog already and want help with obedience training. It is worth every penny with Chesapeake Dog Training!!

I can't say enough good things about the staff at Chesapeake Dog Training. Back in October we lost our 10 year old dog leaving our 2 year old dog completely lost, and having what I would call doggie panic attacks. After trying some things on my own and convinced I was destined to have a dog on prozac, I contact Linda based off a recommendation of a friend. Bethany came to our house and within 2 lessons we noticed a decrease in his panic attacks. It has been 6 months since his last panic attack and he has not required a sinlge dose of medication. I don't know where we'd be right now if it weren't for Bethany! We have since gotten a new puppy and I'm excited for him to go do their board and train program while we board his big brother, which will be a first for me! That's how much I love and trust Linda and Bethany. In the 40+ years of having a dog I will be boarding my dogs for the first time. I HIGHLY recommend Chesapeake Dog Training!

Chesapeake Dog Training is a little bit more expensive than the large group training facilities like Petsmart and the like. We weren't sure it was worth it. However, after just the first lesson, we realized you get more than your money's worth going with Chesapeake. Our dog is a young purebred German shepherd we got through animal control's pound. He didn't have any major emotional baggage, but he had all kinds of behavioral issues. Our trainer, Michelle, not only taught us effective ways to teach our dog key commands, but she also showed us how to treat our dog and show him with consistency and clarity what his jobs are and what behaviors are or aren't acceptable in our family. We learned how to train him without being unkind, but instead just clear about what we want from him.Through the 5-week program, we saw our dog's major anxiety issues greatly reduce, and remembering his behavior in the first lesson and comparing it to the last really showed us how drastic this change was!Chesapeake Dog Training only allows up to 3 dogs in class per course, so your dog won't be overwhelmed by dealing with so many other personalities and will grow comfortable with his classmates.Michelle was amazing and took the time to explain the "why" behind every method we learned, including from the dog's perspective. She is an amazing trainer and we are so grateful for her dedication. She took phone calls and emails during the week for any questions or concerns, and really invested in our lives and the life of our dog. She made her email available to us after we graduated training for any follow up questions or issues as well.We loved our time with Chesapeake Dog Training, and though we were reluctant to spend the extra money initially, we were so glad in the end. Worth every penny. If they ever create an advanced program, we will sign our pup up for it!

Can’t say enough. Our pup was a real challenge and Linda and Beth found a way to reach her. It’s only been hours since we’ve had her home and life is dramatically different. We had our dog out and about with what used to be a headache and is now a pleasure. Great people and fantastic results.

If you are looking for a place where they will treat your four-legged loved one like you treat them, then you have found the place. Leaving your pet in the hands of someone else can be so worrisome and scary, frankly. I have never been more comfortable then I am with staff at CDT. They looked after him, they took care of him, and I never felt like they were distracted in any way shape or form. I could see where they knew every dog in their care like really knew them the way we know our pets. So that care factor was at the top on my list and I haven’t even gotten to their subject matter knowledge and the effectiveness of the training. Our dog (10 month old rescue pup) underwent a two week board and train. It was his first time away from home. He definitely had training issues which is why we opted for an immersion program. He had a rough start in life and we wanted to set him up for success in life. The knowledge the staff has have is beyond. They watched him, learned his quirks, zeroed in on what he needed to be successful and the end result is amazing!! They spent so much time working with us. They kept in touch with us throughout his training because I am that type of Dog Mom ... but they never made me feel like I was a pain ... (lol) so I always be grateful for that. Simply put, they understood him and they understood us and I am couldn’t be more happy to have this relationship with them. They are extremely good at what they do. I hesitated on writing a review for selfish reasons ... I want them to be my little best secret but this isn’t a secret I should keep. I hope this helps if you are looking for a place where your pet will be safe and will be loved and will get amazing training with awesome people to whom we will be forever grateful! We are sending our older dog now ... I want him to have the same access and experience with their training ... they are just phenomenal. Ps I don’t usually write reviews but like I said ... CDT needs to be shared with others ... (and I love love how organized they are ... it is the complete package ... I have no complaints at all!!)

I cannot recommend Chesapeake Dog Training and our trainer, E (Emily), enough! We adopted a smart, loveable 3 year old boxer and quickly realized she had very aggressive behavior toward other dogs. I've had lots of experience with dogs before, but had never dealt with aggressive behavior and realized I didn't know how to properly handle it or our dog in these stressful interactions. Although she was very calm, obedient, and well mannered in our home, I couldn't walk her past another dog without her lunging, barking, and completely ignoring my commands on walks. It took all my strength to keep her from charging at the other dog and I got used to apologizing profusely to every dog owner we passed. I read books and did lots of research on the internet but, even though some of it was helpful, realized we needed more direct guidance. We initially took a group basic obedience class thinking the exposure to other dogs would help our boxer, Ginger, but it was like throwing someone in the deep end to teach them to swim. Putting her in a small room with so many dogs was extremely overwhelming for both Ginger and us after she'd had so many years of assumedly negative interactions with other dogs. I was hesitant to hire a personal dog trainer because I'm not good at asking for help, I like to accomplish things myself, and it felt like I was giving up. Very quickly I realized, however, that hiring a professional like E was the opposite of giving up. It was the ultimate way to show commitment to the dog I already loved so much after just 6 months. I promised our rescue to provide her a better life, and E helped us do that with just 4 lessons! E quickly realized Ginger is not actually agressive, but rather insecure and needed direction and positive, controlled interactions with other dogs. She provided us with the proper tools to help Ginger build her confidance and more positively interact with other dogs. We still have a lot of work to do that will take time, but having the confidance myself now to properly train my dog and help emotionally rehabilitate her is priceless. E amazed me each lesson with her calm, laid back yet assertive nature, exactly what we and our dog needed! I was amazed after each lesson what she was able to help Ginger achieve. Our lessons were complete not after a timer went off but rather after E was satisfied we and our dog had accomlished that lesson's goals. Having never used a trainer before, I contacted 4 different companies to learn what each had to offer. Chesapeake Dog Training had the best pricing and after E quickly responded to my request and we discussed Ginger's needs, I knew we were in the right hands. Chesapeake Dog Training is a well worthwhile investment for both you and your dog :)

We left our pup with Linda when we went on our trip. Our dog had a great time, and was well cared for. Linda also helps us with training, and our rescued dog is realizing her full potential.

I have a 10 month old Chesapeake Bay retriever who suddenly became frightened of “disembodied noise”. A dumpster being dropped or the loud noise coming from somewhere a block away would unnerve my dog. Kensey was so frightened that she would go outside only to do her business and then run back into the house. When Linda arrived and tried to take her for a walk, Kensey went down and did an “alligator roll” and refused to stand up. Kensey’s teeth were chattering and she was shaking all over. Linda looked at me and I said “I told you so!”Today, Kensey is able to go outside by herself and walk around the yard, and she looks forward to her daily walks. She tries her best to face her fears and she improves a little every day. I call her my “brave little girl”.Without Linda’s keen insight and training skills, this wonderful transition would have never taken place. I certainly had no idea how to help my dog overcome her fear of noise. Thank you, Linda!

I highly recommend this trainer. She has helped me with understanding the "why", knowing why my dog was reacting a certain way has made it easier to train him. Whether you need basic training or advanced I would highly recommend Chesapeake Dog Training.
