Absolutely outstanding service at a very competitive price.I had a problem with my propane fireplace and it took two visits to get it fixed. The second time around, Pete came to my house himself, and in 40 minutes he took care of the problem.I was expecting a high bill -- two visits plus parts -- and it was not the case at all. This speaks highly of this business' integrity.Also, Pete was always responsive, professional, and accommodating in his emails.Lastly, when I called to pay the invoice by credit card everything was handled professionally and respectfully.I'm one happy customer and I will call them again.Highly recommend.

Was told by other fireplace outfits that they could not get parts for my fireplace, and they would not even come out. Except for the guy who did come, said he cleaned it to no avail, and charged me more than $400. McVetys sent someone who tinkered with it and said he would have Pete McVety come out. Pete got it working, and did not charge me a fortune. Am so pleased.

I had the best experience with McVety's. There was a problem with my stove installation in my new place; Pete did everything that he could to make it right. I have not gotten better help or service from any business anywhere - I highly recommend this business. They stand by their workmanship. And as an extra, they diagnosed a totally unrelated problem while they were there. It wasn't their issue but they helped me figure it out, made a temporary repair themselves and put me on the road to permanent repair. So very helpful and just nice people!

He responded quickly to my emails with great detail and pointed me in the right direction. I had an issue with the wall switch operating my propane fireplace. I stopped by and spoke with Pete about the issue. He suggested it might be the switch. He took the time to explain it to me and even looked up the proper switch. Bottom line it was the defective switch. I got it at Ace for $1.49 and fixed it myself. If I ever need a new unit or someone asks me for I recommendation it will be McVety’s for sure.

A customer of mine installed a stove, and they put the ductwork in the wrong spot due to lazy workmanship. Had to come back and move the ductwork and try to charge me for $500 for there mistake also I never hired them. My customer did. Watch out for these guys. If they make a mistake, they will put the blame elsewhere and take no responsibility for themselves. Also, for the comments below the old fireplace, this company said they couldn't change the flew from the back vent to the top vent, and sold them a new stove so there's another lie from them. Another way to scam a customer. If anyone reads reviews below, they have also over charged other people. Watch out for these scamers

I first contacted McVety's inquiring about a wood stove. Pete came to do a consultation at our home and right off the bat I was very impressed with his professionalism and thoroughness. In addition to providing me more information on the wood stove we were thinking about he also gave a suggestion of a pellet stove because of the convenience factor plus it being much safer with a two year old in the house. After some deliberation we followed his advice and went with the pellet stove and honestly I couldn't be happier. The turn around time in installation was very reasonable considering the demand level going into the winter. After a couple weeks of having the stove installed I had a few questions about the stove operation having never had a pellet stove before. Despite how busy they were, Pete personally came back out just to make sure I was 100% comfortable with everything. That kind of service after the sale really impressed me. Now into the cold temps of December we're really loving the kind of warmth that only a solid fuel burning stove can provide.McVety's was the only stove shop that we actually had come give a full site visit and I knew I wanted to buy from them, however, being a diligent shopper I also called around to get quotes from three other stove shops in the area. Turns out McVety's also had the best price. Not by a mile but certainly a couple hundred dollars less. Even if they were a little more I was going to buy from them anyway but to also have the best price was a pleasant surprise.Long story short, I highly recommend McVety's after doing business with them.

McVety's did a great job in repairing our fireplace insert, very thorough, professional and efficient. Because they are overwhelmed with demand it took a while for them to get to us. Once we were on their schedule the technician came as promised, and was thorough, professional, and efficient and reviewed our use of our equipment with us as well. Thanks for a great job!

Started out thinking this would be great. Went above and beyond to see if they were able to get me the pellet stove I needed. Even better, they quoted me a price, far lower than expected. Then it started. I was called back and told that the quoted price, that I made a down payment on, would not be honored. Instead, $1000 bucks more was added. After two more weeks of trying to work something out; and calling in to see if any progress had been made, I finally told them to just refund my deposit. My business was very obviously not important to them at all. Tried very hard to give them a chance and I am so very disappointed in the place that was recommended by so many. I would not recommend them at all.

Bought a fireplace in Bangor a little before they closed. Paid them to have it installed also. We were remodeling our old farm house and could not have it installed right away. We were finally ready to have it installed in early fall. Installation went great. We were away traveling and our house was still being remodeled. We moved in towards the end of November. We knew there was a few pieces left over as the salesman told us he wanted to be sure they had enough to do the install as it was not just straight up through the roof. We finally got around the first of March to deal with the left over pieces. There was a number of expensive pieces of chimney piping and elbows. We loaded them in our truck and drove to Yarmouth. Spoke to the manager and she looked up our invoice from the Bangor store and said lets look and see what you have. This was from about 8 months ago. Took every piece back and gave us a full refund on all pieces. Had a check arrive in the mail in less than a week. The manager could not have been nicer nor more professional. This told me everything about the ownership and how they treat their customers. Thank you for everything.

We purchased a pellet stove insert from McVety's two years ago. The first year it worked ok, I think we had them service it once. We did all the cleaning you are supposed to do. But the second year it didn't not work well and in fact pretty much stopped working. Pete McVety himself came out to service the stove on a couple of occasions. I told Pete we would rather return the unit and get a gas stove insert. Not only did he do it without any hesitation, his team added a liner to my chimney (needed for a gas stove) and installed the new unit AND gave us a check for $900!!! I can't say enough good things about my experience with McVety's. I think they really care about their customers and are willing to go the extra mile without a complaint. I am not making this up. Just super happy with this company. Customer for life.

Amazing service and knowledge of woodstoves!I had experienced a few problems with my Regency woodstove. Pete came and diagnosed the problem and within weeks had a solution. The invoice wasn't over the moon for the services rendered - it was more than fair. I wouldn't hesitate recommending them to anyone. In the showroom they were encouraging and knowledgeable. When they came out to do the survey of our current hearth and discuss the options we didn't know until after the free estimate and purchase of the ultimate beautiful stove that it was the owner himself that visited. McVety was also the one that came to take away the old stove for recycling and taught us how to modify the exiting set-up to follow current codes without damaging our tools or ourselves! Calling McVety's was the best decision we made. Pete McVety didn't just try to sell me the wood stove we thought we wanted. He diagnosed and fixed the questionable gas fireplace that my wife and I sought to replace. Then he helped us understand a better and more affordable gas heating solution. I 100% recommend McVety's to anyone who wants to supplement their home heat with a gas, pellet or wood stove or fireplace.

Went in for some basic advice and pricing, slippery lizard older salesman was trying to work me so hard that I felt dirty. Bought a few cans of stove paint and ran! They may be able to help the high end coastal money but they are not reasonable for the rest of us.
