Not a bad selection and I like to support local hardware stores. Two stars because they send me coupons every month that don’t work when I go to use them and then they accuse me of trying to scan them multiple times. This has happened multiple times.

The best retail experience anywhere, consistently. Employees are genuinely helpful, whether it's with merchandise or rentals. I've come in with photos of household problems or parts, not knowing the name of what I need, and they've always helped me find a solution and I've usually learned a thing or two as well.

Coastal Hardware lives up to the standard Ace Hardware service! They sell everything you need to care for your home, garden, and car--and then some! Every time I have been here, staff greet me as soon as I enter the front door and ask if I need assistance. My only small complaint is that placing an online order to pick up in store always takes at least 15+ minutes; I will probably just do an online order and ship to my house in the future.

I called to check the stock of an item that I had seen posted to their Facebook page. It was LITERALLY the last one in the COUNTRY I’d been able to find that hadn’t been purchased with the intent of price gauging. (when I tell you I’d searched high and low, checked every website imaginable and called over 100 different businesses, it is not an over exaggeration) I called the store and spoke to Herb who pulled the item off the floor for me. After speaking to Mike and emailing with Bill regarding shipping destination and arrangements, I was able to pay for the item over the phone and have it shipped out of state to my home. When I say fantastic customer service, that is an understatement. All of these gentlemen were incredibly kind, the transaction was smooth as can be, and my item shipped out same day, with a tracking number, (Wednesday) and will arrive tomorrow (I live in Ohio). I cannot thank these guys enough for going above and beyond for their consumers! I’d recommend them 10 times over and intend to do more business with them in the future! Great experience, I’m rambling, but just can’t say enough! THANK YOU! 😊😊😊

It's nice to support a local hardware store rather than the big box stores. That said, the high school staff are friendly but don't know a ton, which is fine as they are at least eager to try. The older guys are hit or miss whether you get one who is willing to help out or just stand there and try and make you feel stupid. The good outweighs the bad though. They have a pretty good selection and the rental selection is really impressive.

I called this morning an asked they put an item on hold for me even offered to pay for it they told me not to worry about it. I get there an the kids running the counter knew what I was talking about it being the only one in any store anywhere but could not find it. They realized their manager Joe sold it to someone else even though he was told I would be there at a certain time, has my name on it, an on hold for me to pick up later. The manager still sold it. If my child wasn't promised this certain item from me securing it I wouldn't have promised him. I teach my son your word means everything. Now I have to tell him I broke a promise because the manager of the store doesn't keep his promises. Joe you very unprofessional. At least give me a courtesy call to let me know you sold the item so I don't drive an hour out of my way for you not to keep your word. I have so much stuff to buy besides that item a few hundred dollars worth that I put it all back and when another customer over heard what had happened he felt so bad he was trying to help me in anyway he could. He also put all his items back an is a regular at your store but not anymore. Others that I called around too just incase I had missed it at another place that wasn't sold out all said let me guess was his name Joe.....

I shop at Coastal all the time and I highly recommend them. Someone is always there to help me as soon as I walk through the door. Everyone there knows where everything is, and can help me find what I'm looking for and give advice on my project if I need it. They help me get in and out of the store and back to work on my project as soon as possible. Their rental shop is great as well, with good prices on all kinds of power equipment and even hand tools. I highly recommend Coastal Hardware.

The owners/managers are just rude. I've had several bad experiences in the past that should have taught me a lesson, but today was the last straw. We brought a gallon of Ace-brand paint back to them that had gotten very lumpy, and the owner (shortish bald guy who's always by the front door) refused to put it in the paint shaker because there was some paint on the outside of the can. Fair enough. He told us to go home and stir it, but when we explained we had tried to do that for more than 30 minutes, first by hand and later with an electric mixer, he just said "I don't know what else to tell you." No "sorry", no "let me see if I can find an empty/clean can that we can use". He told us that it was our fault and that it probably froze (despite it always being inside our house) and he was incredibly rude the whole time.As I said, this isn't the first time they've been jerks. I've had a couple problems before when I rented power equipment that either broke down during use or didn't live up to my modest expectations. The other owner/manager (taller guy with dark wavy hair) was rude then too.In contrast, the guys up at Freeport Hardware were great - said their paint comes with a 100% guarantee. The guys down at Goff's on Main St are also always very polite and helpful. I'll be taking my business to those two places in the future.

Try to support hardware stores as they often carry items that can't be found at the big box sites, and I'd hate to see them driven out of busines, however their prices are generally higher. On this trip they did have what I was looking for that the big box stores didn't.

Nice hardware store with a great selection but very overpriced. The staff, although very helpful when needed, oddly line up at the entrance and stare at you as you enter. Then a chorus of "can i help you" begins and it's frankly offputting. Approach me if I look like I need your help, but if I walk in clearly focused & bee lining it to the aisle i need, leave me alone.

Wonderfully helpful and knowledgeable staff. For repairs and chainsaw sharpening, this is the place to go. They work wonderfully to advise and help with questions about paint, garden projects, anything in hardware. For years now, Coastal hardware has earned my five stars.

you are unable to walk in without being asked if i need help and it is great. Friendly staff and usually have what I am looking for. New addition is very nice and will continue to use the Ace Rewards as it is a great program if you frequent the establishment.

this place isnt the cheapest- but it usually has everything i need in a pinch, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The Rental section is well supplied. I come here at least twice a week.
