This is a legitimate country story! Delighted to have come across this store with a bit of everything! From groceries to gifts to fishing gear to wedding dresses! YES! Wedding dresses! If they don't have it, you probably don't need it!Cannot wait to return and explore further! Also, super friendly staff!

What’s not to love about Hussey’s?? Need a pair of winter boots? Check. Need bait or tackle? Check. Need a bag of Fritos or ice cream? Yep. Ammo? Yep. Wedding dresses …. You guessed it. Yes! An all around awesome store for pretty much everything you need. Stop by for provisions, kids items, travel souvenirs among other things. An all time Maine classic!

I believe the pictures will speak for themselves but will not give you the enjoyment as I received when I arrived here. Ask for Angela she is the star of the show, kind sweet and truly enjoys her job. She will go above and beyond to make you smile while assisting you in every way possible. They have all you can ask for in a General Store. The customer service person who assisted me is also outstanding and professional. As for the cashiers it is a hit or miss. Not to friendly or polite to serve you but the rest of the staff are the crew who make up for it!

Don't purchase any meats/products with mayo that are on sale, EVER. They don't toss spoiled food they sell it, I once fell victim to their potato salad for two miserable weeks. Also, not sure what the deal is with the elder female cashiers, but they treat younger female customers like absolute garbage and then are nice to the men that come in and even flirt with them, I was once totally ignored when their other lane opened up and the people behind me were told they could come right over. Naturally I didn't tolerate this and hustled over anyway, the customers knew I was next, but seriously....what gives? This store is awful and closes at five o' clock to boot, so sad, used to be a great store; I grew up here. P.S. all that was offered to me in regards to the food poisoning was my money back which was exactly one dollar, If I could leave them zero stars with this review, I would, thanks for selling out; you over charge and you're not what you used to be.

Hussey's is a great local store. They have groceries, a great meat department, wedding gowns, clothing for the whole family, hardware, plumbing, and electrical supplies, seeds, gardening tools, paints, Maine items, fishing equipment for both fresh snd ice fishing, camping gear, guns, ammo, and do much more. They also sell gasoline. They are an all in one store.

Bought gas here, assumed they had a decent restroom for customers. Was directed to go around to the back of the store, outside, to a porta potty (only one) that was filthy and had no TP.

travelers, homesteaders, and outdoor enthusiasts stop for a myriad of supplies!!! stuff for kids, clothing and a good selection of guides and books, too!! if you are from away you should take sometime to stock up on gear and groceries before proceeding any further. trapping, hunting and kit for goldbugs also...in fact u can just skip L. L. Bean!!!

*UPDATE* will never shop here again. They sold me a box of supposedly new ammo. They were 100% reloads. And not even good reloads. If you do have the misfortune of buying from these crooks check every round.A little bit of everything. And amazing customer service.

BATHROOMS have not been reopened inside. They closed their 2 nice inside bathrooms and never opened them back up again. Customers (men and women) have to share a stinky port-a-potty out back. No water, soap, or paper towels. Unsanitary. I don't know why they haven't opened their nice inside bathrooms back up. We will spend less time and money there until they treat their customers better.

I have always given Hussey's 5 stars. I bring out-of-state visitors there all the time (mostly seniors). This last visit was not good. Two members of our party needed to use restrooms. I took them downstairs where they have ALWAYS been ...they were CLOSED. Hussey's no longer has customer restrooms. You must go out the front door, walk all the way around back and use an outhouse. Then walk all the way around front again.You expect customers to go around back when it is 20 degrees and snow/ice on the ground ?What was management thinking ?

I absolutely love this store!! It has the small town old time feel & the many of the products they sell are local or Maine made. They have everything from chz & eggs to wedding gowns & guns then more still. 3 floors where I can get lost when I go. Very friendly & helpful staff.

Update 5/2023. They closed the restrooms to customers but they still well happily sell you prepared food. If that's not a violation of law, it's because Maine is a r3t4rd state. //Guns, cold beer, and wedding gowns. Those and a million other things. Classic general store! The cashiers are always pleasant.

After entering this location, I easily found the items I was seeking. The aisles were wide and the signs clearly showed what was contained in each store area. I was promptly acknowledged and greeted by an associate as I approached the sales area. The same associate was smiling and making eye contact. My transaction was prompt and accurate.I was given an appropriate parting.This store surpassed my expectations.

I spent almost 2 hours in this store and I've been to it many times. Great prices for being the only store in miles and just about anything can be found here. Has a huge souvenir section and hilarious bumper stickers. Guns are expensive but great quality. Gas is also pumped for you.

Great store. The guy up stairs is very very knowledgeable with the guns. And down stairs today I was helped by a big bald guy,"name unknown". He went out if his way to help me and find a solution to the problem. Great customer service from both employees.

This is the most amazing place!!!! I stumbled on it by accident, just needed some babypowder one day and it was the closest place.... But it has quickly become one of my favorite shopping destinations. Slightly pricier than grocery or big box stores, but worth it for the convenience and great atmosphere.

Good hometown general store. Prices can sometimes be high, but fun to browse. They literally have guns, beer, and wedding gowns. Got some old timey antiques too. If you're visiting Maine, this is a cool place to visit.

I recently went into Hussey's looking for a little .22 to teach my godson about firearms and hunting. Dawn assisted me, I found the perfect gun. As we began the sale a man came over and asked Dawn who was purchasing this gun to which she pointed to me . A moment later as I was filling out the paperwork he came back over and asked me if I was in fact the purchaser of this gun, to which I said yes that is correct. He then proceeded to tell me he had a customer come in last week to try to purchase this same gun and could not answer one of the questions on the form correctly. I felt accused, the tone of his voice was very intimidating. Dawn was great and I felt very comfortable dealing with her. As he kept pushing his way into the sale I felt disrespected and threatened as a woman by his demeanor and tone of voice. Overall I love the store and I will return but don't know that I will purchase another gun from here after my most recent experience in the gun department.

Very poor customer service with my purchase ($319). I have got ZERO help with my problem after many attempts. They were happy to take my money but when it came to basic business etiquette and customer service they couldn't have cared less.I called and left a pleasant voicemail with the owner and was ignored. I am extremely saddened with my experience at Hussey's General Store. I advise others reading this review to avoid doing business with this store.

For this city slicker, Hussey’s is practically an exotic Shangri-la. They may be famous for their wedding gowns sold alongside cold beer but to me the charm of the store is in the three floors, packed full of everything one needs... and a menagerie of things you didn’t know you needed. Vintage Muskets? They have ‘em. Fishing supplies? Yep! Hardware and household goods- obviously. Spices, trapping supplies, fur pelts, knives, children’s toys, gifts for friends, humorous decor, used books, vintage items, clothing, a full market, fishing licenses and lotto- you get the idea.Pick up a Hussey’s shirt while you’re at it, they are a conversation starter.

Guns, Wedding Gowns, Cold Beer... in-stock and plentiful on all counts, as advertised! Full-line hardware store, etc. A true General Store. Like they say, "If we don't have it, you don't need it!" I'll take them at their word. A very competent staff - there to help get you squared away. Worth a detour, a place you'll be glad you dropped in to!
