The two people working the ice cream today 12/29. They were super nice! We always get the milk at the supermarket, so we ventured up to the farm. They have an option to make the frappe with chocolate milk! Very tasty as always.

What a fun place!! Lots of animals to see and feed. Around the farm they have areas for kiddos to climb and play in. The little shop is cute and very reasonably priced. We didn’t get the chance to try the cafe but it looked good! The ice cream was soooo tasty!! ONLY thing I wish was different was to have a cup or something to put animal feed in instead of trying to carry it around! The staff were all SUPER friendly. Really enjoyed coming here.

I don't even care for ice cream.... But this place?!??ABSOLUTELY BEST ICE CREAM I've ever had! Everything is fresh from their farm! It is also super affordable! They also have a huge barnyard/petting zoo for the kids. Only $9/person. Totally worth it!We loved this place so much we went back for more before heading back to TX. GO, GO, GO! You will love all the flavors!

What a gem of a place. We only came to visit the dairy farm and hope to visit the barnyard in the future. So many different flavors of ice cream and milk. Menu for lunch (11 AM to 3 PM) has all the variety; you place your order at the ice cream counter and listen for your number. You can sit in the dining area where they have a loudspeaker so you can better hear your number. They use compostable utensils and containers. There are 2 parking lots; when we got there around 11:15 AM on a Friday, it was packed. Definitely come check it out if you're in the area!

My wife and I went for lunch, it was excellent. We had the 1720 sandwich on wheat. I can't imagine a better place for lunch. The staff helped us with a purchase of a toddler sized shirt and maple syrup. The milk was incredible and we were too full to experience the ice cream so we are planning a return trip.

Whenever we’re up in Maine for business, Smiling Hill Farm is an absolute must-visit for us. The chocolate milk is second to none—seriously, you haven’t lived until you’ve tried it fresh from the farm.Last time we were in the area, we decided to take it up a notch and took all our employees on a factory tour. Even had our limo pull up! The tour was eye-opening and gave us a real appreciation for what goes into making their top-quality products. If you’re ever in the area, don’t miss out on Smiling Hill Farm. Between their unbeatable chocolate milk and the awesome tour experience, it’s a 5-star stop for sure.

This is one of our go to places. We love going there all year round. The store and the cow barnyard are open all year and the rest of the animals from mid April through Halloween. It’s very nice because you have everything in close proximity. They have a small explorer garden, little library, store with icecream and you can order lunch there as well (the store has indoor and outdoor sitting). We always have fun at the playground set, there are many climbing structures - wooden train, airplane, a real old escalator. They have a toy store which you hit in the way out and usually one of the cars is there hanging out in her bed. They have cows, pony horses, geese, chickens, rooster, bunnies, lamas, goats, pigs, sheep, and even deer. It’s the sweetest place to take your little one.

EXCELLENT PLACE to take the kiddos. Clean, beautiful, so many animals, terrific staff, great ice cream. A few more benches for tired Grandparents would be nice. But great place to visit. Do NOT miss out on the baby goat snuggling. Schedule on line

Great place for kids. Lot to learn and the farm is clean and managed very well. There is a petting zoo, barn and a playground, quite a handful for the kids! Plus, you can also feed some of the animals here! You can also have locally made ice cream which are quite flavorful. Overall great experience, and would definitely recommend!

I took my partner here because they have never pet a cow before. I was a little nervous about going since the reviews were somewhat mixed but…we both had the absolute time of our lives!! The barnyard exhibit was huge, had amazing staff, and all the animals looks very healthy and had pretty size-able exhibits. The animals in the petting area were so so sweet and loved the scratches!! Will definitely be coming back with some more people! Highly recommend taking a morning to go!!

A lovely vibrant farm just 10 minutes from the maine mall. Cozy with delicious sandwiches, Mac n cheese, ice cream, and other goodies at very reasonable prices. The farm includes an assortment of animals including cows, sheep, emus, deer, chickens, deer, llama, pigs, and more! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about animal husbandry as well. An absolute gem and a must stop on your way through greater portland.

I will buy 6 quarts of milk at a time when in the area to bring home to MA. The flavored milks are delicious but the full fat chocolate milk is hands down the best I've ever had. It's like drinking liquid chocolate soft serve ice cream but even better. Upon grabbing a small bottle, it didn't make it off the farm road before I ravenously consumed its liquid loveliness.

What a perfect stop for us with our preschool and toddler grandchildren! Outdoor play, loads of animals and ice cream! Three ground stew nice and i appreciate that they had handy hand cleaners after touching animals.

What a great place to bring a family for some fun! My wife and kids love going here to see all the animals! I'm a Westbrook kid (class of '04) and I never get tired of feeding goats and yelling at my daughter to stop chasing the geese out front! Always a blast at a local family owned farm!

Great local dairy and meat products. Great food from the restaurant and wonderful barnyard for kids during the warm season.

Although most Mainer's likely know Smiling Hill for its glass-bottled milk, they also make their own cheese curds and delicious ice cream. You would never guess that this green oasis is situated just down the road from the Portland Jetport, but its nearby location makes for an easy afternoon getaway from the South Portland crowds. After you step inside the large, red barn to choose from 20 or more ice cream varieties, be sure to tote your cone out back to meet the animals.

Great place!I have only been a handful of times now but I love their flavored milks! The ice cream is good too.I wish they had all the flavors of milk that they are supposed to have on their website but I know some are probably seasonal and they are working on finding a substitute for the coffee milk.Has bathrooms and even a little dining area. You do need to pay a bottle deposit charge since the bottles are glass but it’s totally worth it since you can just roll over the deposit to your next bottles.I try to come every two weeks, and I’m about 40 minutes away. It’s well worth the travel. I haven’t been during the summer yet but I’m sure it’s just as good, if not better!

My favorite dairy farm with some of the BEST local ice cream. We got a few different flavors and watched the cows while we sat and enjoyed our treat. They have a bunch of flavors and other things to do on the farm. Great for families, bring the kids to the petting area! Support local farmers and local businesses.

We visited Smiling Hill Farm for an Easter Egg hunt and it was so much more than we expected. The staff is amazing! Everyone we met was smiling, helpful and kind. The animals were great and their setups and living spaces were so fun to look at. We love it here and will definitely be coming back! And what a surprise to walk through the little shop and see a cat sleeping on a shelf alongside some chinchillas and a bearded dragon. Thank you Smiling Hill for a great day! We will be back soon for another visit!

Great ice cream, cool play structures, and one of the biggest petting zoos I've ever seen.2022 Update: Still love it here. Kids had fun feeding and petting the animals. Played on all the wooden vehicles. We spent three hours here and the kids still didn't want to leave. Had to persuade them with delicious ice cream.

Such great, peaceful place! Very picturesque and tranquil. Kids could spend a whole day here either with the animals, playground or running around. There is shade and sun, there is ice cream and somewhere to play as well as relax

We did the goat yoga here and it was so much fun! The instructor was fantastic, getting the right level between some light yoga and playing with baby goats. She was really knowledgeable about the goats and somehow managed to know all of their names! Would thoroughly recommend. It was also wonderful to see all the other animals they have there, and their ice cream in the farm shop is delicious!

Great place to bring the kids. Great educational pieces about milk production. There is a petting zoo, playgrounds, you can see the barn and the babies. The food is cafe sandwiches that are so good. And an ice cream scoop counter. They also carry other Maine made products. Great place to also grab some Maine Made souvenirs

I always love coming here for some freshly churned ice cream. They have so many fantastic flavors, but I love the cookie dough and the mint chip. Return enough of your bottles here and they may just pay YOU for getting a scoop! Also great for bringing the little ones to the barnyard to see the animals. I used to bring my sons all the time when they were toddlers and they loved it. Even did a birthday party here once and it went swimmingly.
