The Hannaford grocery store located in Wells, Maine is a very good grocery store. It is conveniently located. They have plenty of free parking. The store and the parking lot is clean. The store is thoroughly stocked. Everyone that we encountered were very friendly. The prices were reasonable. We recommend this grocery store.

This has to be one of the busiest grocery stores around during tourist season….even a trolley stops here! During peak season shelves and produce are stocked as though five course meals could be cooked by thousands with massive amounts of fresh produce, meats and wines. Recycling in the parking lot - during tourist season very busy parking lot be careful of foot traffic and walking cell phones that don’t look up 😉

It's been really picked over lately, things not in stock produce not up to normal standards. It does a lot better in the summer when the vacationers are here, It's a shame they can't keep the same quality for the locals that winter over.

A terrible place to shop with terrible customer service! A day after I bought a cooler and tried to return it a rude manager indicated it couldn't be returned and that there were numerous signs posted that summer merchandise was nonrefundable. After searching I found one (notice how small) and it wasn't there upon purchase. Other experiences here are just as lousy with poor customer service and low quality items. Avoid this place!

This store in particular seems to get picked over fairly often, so be prepared to make concessions with what your grocery needs are before you arrive. Seafood and local goods are reasonably priced, and the store definitely focuses its inventory of goods on vacationers looking to restock their cottage or grab things for their vacation home. Nice stock of baby goods in case you need anything in particular, but produce and seafood were clearly picked over (7pm on a Tuesday).

I shop here all the time. The selection is good.Prices are competitive.The store is never too busy.I wish they had wild-caught Atlantic salmon.My one complaint is that I purchased preprepaired meat and chicken from their meat/fish counter a few times and the meat/chicken was always bad. I returned and got my money back but also wrote an email to the company. I waited maybe 6 months and then made a similar purchase. Again, the meat/chicken was spoiled.

The person who left the last review…TI Jules. I was next to you in line….do you remember? Your description of events is not what happened. Might I suggest you not vacation to the area. What kind of person goes to another country and writes a bad review and lies. We are basically a refugee sanctuary for your country which is burning. Be nice . Do better. Also tell your Canadian friends to stop hogging up all the aisles being ignorant to your surroundings especially people around you. You come here …you’re ungrateful..can’t drive…don’t tip accordingly and take up too much space. You need a valid ID and the manger would of taken a valid passport. Stop lying. Everyone knows your lying being in America a Visa is. It a form of acceptable ID. Stop lying

Manager is INCREDIBLY rude.Would not accept valid ID and was told to take it up to the state of Maine (?????) when I came back with a passport, I was told I needed a traveller’s visa, which is never issued for Canadians travelling for less than 6 months in the USA. Unbelievable!Thankfully, the staff is courteous, patient, and understanding, unlike the manager.

First they introduce curbside pick up in early 2022. then they reserve 10 or more pristine parking spaces closest to the entrance that are almost always vacant for togo orders, then they place a large fridge/freezer (for togo orders) by an already bottle necked entrance to the right entrance . (Next they have their employees blocking the aisle with large stainless steel carts on wheels for the togo orders for people too lazy to shop in person ) the other entrance by the pharmacy is now blocked by an ever expanding self checkouts - for the almighty dollar!. NOW they have the nerve to remove the cart return kiosk at the right parking lot entrance (to gain 1 additional parking space!!!!)forcing you to walk an additional 60 feet away from the store just to return your empty cart. Is this the reward for a WEARY shopper after spending all their hard earned money on already inflated food prices at this store? ALL this for the almighty dollar. This place is going downhill fast. Go to Market Basket in Biddeford. it may cost you more in gas but your sanity will be worth it.

We have shopped in Wells while on summer vacation in Ogunquit. The store is always crowded and the parking lot is always very busy. The selection is just okay, and while the store is reasonably clean, there is room for improvement.Getting here from Ogunquit in the summer can be a real hassle because the main road is often bumper to bumper. We have decided to shop elsewhere while on summer vacation.

This is a large, well lit and clean store. I'm kind of partial to Hannafords because there's a few of them in the state of Vermont that I built all the glass and aluminum storefront in. 20 years ago now.

Being from Arizona, we were unfamiliar with this brand. It is GREAT. Clean, well-stocked.The staff is welcoming and helpful. I was especially pleased to find older Apple varieties.

This store is usually very well stocked - produce is generally pretty fresh, and the employees are kind and helpful. There are selections of local produce, bread from local bakers and similar. It can get a bit crowded in the summer months with the tourists, but they do a good job at keeping things moving.Update: this is still the best grocery store in the areaUpdate 2: no change. Still the best

They were very nice people that works there. Nice selection of fresh fruit and vegetables. They had lobsters in tanks that you could buy. The store was very busy when we arrived. There was an electric scooter for me plus a big table with cleaning supplies to wipe down the shopping carts.

New manager at register WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO BUY MY WINE! I have bought wine there for years, she comes around and goes to the older lady whom I have been buying wine from for years! My ID has expired so she wouldn't allow me to buy it and that is ridiculous I don't care I don't look 30 years old I show my age very well! But come on. And she embarrassed me in front of a whole line of people and that was not cool either!!

I worked for Hannaford and went through all their training. You have always been able to get cash back without a purchase. Today I waited through the line and the associate told me the policy changed and he forced me to leave the line and purchase an item. I grabbed a random item off the shelf and he took another customer ahead of me. I believe customers should be made aware of a policy change. And forcing a purchase is kinda bad for business. Now I have a bad association with that store for being embarrassed and holding up the line.

Deli area already closed at 6:20pm, no pre-made salads nor other prepared foods.This is a large store, Clean and nicely kept, but I was disappointed with the lack of items on the shelves.

I like the Wells, ME store, it's clean, always fully stocked, and the people working there are very pleasant. They offer a great variety of fruits, vegetables, as well as meats and seafood, beer, wine, and liquor. Although they offer a small selection of plant based foods, they are hard to locate and limited in choice.

We came here to shop while on Christmas vacation. They had everything we needed from fresh meats, deli and vegetables. The cashier's were very fast and accurate. And there was even offers to help carry the groceries out to our vehicle.

Good choices and clean. I do not like that they do not bother to clean the carts( although they leave something there to do it yourself once you see it) and I have to put money in a plastic dish for the cashier to take yet she can touch it and give me change Back in the uncleaned dish.. ???
