Goodwill Store: Waterville

I looked online and it said the store closes at 7, I arrived to a sign on the door stating the store closes at 4.Went back the following morning and the place is practically bare of donated, usable items other than clothing and books. The items the store buys (crock type shoes, bed sets, gardening sets etc) take up about half the store.A mam, maybe 20ish, was stocking shelves, basically throwing and slamming items seemed to be his specialty.They were charging $14 for Old Navy pants, same price as Old Navy. They seem to list useful items online. What's the point of donating to Goodwill??

I enjoyed the shopping experience at the Waterville, Maine Goodwill at least once a week, if not more. I have always found the store to be clean, well organized, well stocked with seasonally appropriate merchandise. While the prices on products and merchandise have increased over the past year, I do understand the cost of supporting their local programs within the community and with children’s camps have gone up considerably. And if something is priced beyond, my financial means, I obviously don’t buy it and don’t leave negative feedback About it. Pam, the store manager along with Brandi, Ryan, Kiesha , and Carrie and they are team members all of which I apologize I don’t know all by name, but do include Julie, Scottie, Brooke, Carlo, Deb and numerous others who always greet me, always thank me for supporting their program, are very engaging and very hard-working folks within the community. I appreciate the efforts of the Goodwill in Waterville, Maine.

I used to really like going to this particular Goodwill, but after today I don't think I'll be returning. On top of the ever rising prices and dwindling selection, I had an atrocious interaction with a manager whose name I unfortunately don't remember (she has glass and short, grey hair). I wanted to use a gift card that I received a while back after returning some goods, and it wasn't ringing through at the register. No big deal, the cashier was super nice and helpful, but the manager that they called treated me like I was a criminal. She looked at me as though I stole the gift card, and then accused me of having an attitude with her while I was answering her questions, even going so far as to scoff and laugh at me. I'm autistic, so often times even when I'm not mad I can accidentally come across as irritated, and she didn't even let me explain this before cutting me off with further accusations. I left what I was going to purchase and the gift card behind and walked out because I was getting overwhelmed. Absolutely horrible de-escalation skills on her part, she shouldn't be in a management position whatsoever. If you're going to shop there, try not to interact with her - the rest of the staff are great though!

I'm going to list both the good and bad things I've seen at this store..The good things:.Goodwill has a very large selection of clothing, the store is very clean, and overall the employees are very nice. They also have deals every day which vary depending on the day..The bad things.Unfortunately I have to give this store a 3 out of 5 for multiple reasons. Being someone who attempts to learn about cool items you can find used at goodwill I am constantly looking at books, electronics, board games, and toys to add to my personal collections. My problem is: every time I'm here, local resellers pick this place clean every time I'm here. So the only thing that's left usually is the items that goodwill has marked way too high that the resellers left because they couldn't make a quick buck. Which brings me to my next thing: pricing. Many items that should be marked up to prevent resellers are priced too low, and many items that can't easily be resold and should be low for the average customer are marked way too high. Unfortunately I've seen and heard of resellers posting what they just bought from goodwill on Facebook or Craigslist in order to make a quick buck. In my opinion, those are dollars that should be in goodwills hands, not the local resellers. My other complaint is that it's rather challenging to find big and tall shirts, jackets, and sweatshirts. Some things are priced so high that it's actually cheaper to buy them new at the original store they came from. Overall I wish more research was done on items before they're put out for sale. That way it puts more money in goodwills hands, saves money for the average customer, and less money in the local resellers hands..Now with that being said, your store still does a lot of good for this community: so thank you.

A very prolific customer I am at this goodwill. However I must write this review in the hopes that the managers take note. For months now things have gotten very expensive. We are seeing T-shirts that sell for $ 6 at Walmart now $10 there at goodwill. These t shirts are worn out and sometimes stained. We are seeing proof that their efforts to squeeze more money out of their now poorer customers is becoming a big fail for Goodwill. Proof is that the same products are still on the shelves months on end. Goodwill if your over head has skyrocketed do you not understand that the same is happening to your customers? They do not have more money to put into your cash register. Little word of advice make faster pennies than slower dollars as you will lose customers in the end if you don’t change. Keep the products moving.

The staff is super friendly at the store. Most of them anyway. Heather, is the sweetest person ever and always makes my day when I go into the store. Alan is great too. I miss Rachel and Cindy though. And Dalton. I always find goodies here.

I usually love Goodwill, but I went I went into the Waterville store with 2 friends to browse. While I was browsing I noticed coat hangers that had a velvet covering. I thought this would be great for my closet, my t-shirts won't fall off. Then when I picked up the package of hangers I noticed 3 live bedbugs on the hangers. I immediately notified the clerk who came over to look and said wow. But then did absolutely nothing about it. He went back to his register. I will not go into this store again.

Would leave 0 stars if I could, went to drop donations off at 9:05. Someone comes out after I’ve neatly and carefully placed 2 of my 3 bags full of toys next to the door, and says donations aren’t accepted until 10 because there is no one to take them inside. Fair enough. Although you are a person capable of carrying these bags of stuffies and plastic toys. Can I just leave them until 10? “That’s illegal” okay fair enough. So instead of offering to take them early as a one time courtesy or help me get them back in my car, they just watched me struggle. I get that there are policies, when you google goodwill hours the results say they open at 9 and don’t specify regular vs donation hours so that’s on me for not looking into hours further, but there’s a way to treat people and just because you work at goodwill doesn’t mean you can disregard human decency and customer service. I’ve worked retail/call center for over 15 years and I would have never done that to someone. Even if I COULD NOT take the donations and would lose my job if I did, I would have asked if the customer/donor needed a hand getting the stuff back in the car. And if there were rules against both of those options I would’ve said “ I would really like to give you a hand but policy states I can’t touch the donations” or whatever the case is. I don’t expect to be treated differently than other people, I do expect everyone to be treated with kindness decency and the best customer service possible. I understand goodwill isn’t known for customer service and I’m not expecting anything above and beyond but the common act of asking someone if they need help was not there. Honestly if the employee had offered to help me get the bags back in my car I’d be writing a very different review. I will drive the 30 miles to the next donation center because of this experience.

If I could leave 0 stars I would!! The prices of donated stuff is sooo unbelievably high! Why are dollar tree items over 5$!!! Not to mention some of the staff have family members follow them around instead of helping people. Also have talked to a manager about the prices and they said they need to keep up with competitors but it’s all donated! Supposed to help people that can’t afford new make it make since goodwill!!!

5 stars not cause they are a good store but so it would get read by other customers. The nite time employees where rude and lied about policys all cause they might have to clean a spot again not allowed to use a dressing room while the stores open really than they say it's a store policy. And next employee says no it's not hmmmm...you lost a regular customer cause of it. also cleaning and sanitizing should be done after the store closes too not just before all customers leave cause wouldn't the customer still in the store be contaminating the areas that are cleaned for the FINAL TIME.... for the next day? Maybe that helps. Ive worked in customer service for many years I'm well aware of how the cleaning process works. But thank you for acknowledging the situation. We are regular customers spending atleast $30-$50 at every visit which I'm sure the employees know exactly who complained most employees are friendly and helpful a select few are rude on more than one occasion. Thank you again we will return at some point but it will be a little while before we do. Yes I did edit post I shouldn't of been so harsh I apologize for that.

The stuff use to be way cheaper now there clothes are the price of them when you get them brand new. Little crazy to me definitely when people are giving them to you for FREE your making money off peoples money 💰 I know everything gone up ⬆️ but come on it’s good will. I think you should go lower on your stuff🤔

Wandering around Maine thrifting on a rainy Saturday and wandered into this Goodwill. It was nice and clean and the clothes were nicely organized. The movies and books were well organized too. Keisha our cashier was very friendly and helpful.

I didn't find anything here of interest. They seem to have a lot of new winter shoes and new winter coats that have zero style but look like decent values ... perhaps are donated from some local factory or something?? Not a great selection of used clothing. Ok if you want used stereo equipment of dubious value. Friendly staff. Clean store. I'd skip this one. Try barely used store down the street instead.

The staff seemed pleasant BUT the selection of things at this store compared to the ones I have been to and the one I worked at is not very good. I also know people working in production are responsible for setting prices and putting things out on the sales floor, so with that, I found a bag of little Legos priced at $25, something I'd normally find or price at Goodwill for maybe $5. That's a little crazy. These things are DONATED! Also, I came across a rocking chair that had obvious black mold on the backside of the fabric in multiple places. I never would have put that out for someone to purchase and I know the manager at my store wouldn't have allowed it. Please be more observant of the products you are putting out for people and keep in mind that these items have been given as a donation to your store, so there is no need to set prices so high that a person would get a better deal going to Walmart! Sell it for what you would buy it for.

The staff were terrific!!! Helpful and friendly young men and women waited on us and asked helpful questions during my recent visit to this store. I left smiling!!! Thank you to Heather and Alan for making that happen!

I really like this store, but the way they have it set up for distancing makes it impossible to shop without having to move out of the way every 5 seconds because there's only one direction to get to the registers. It's very aggravating! Not to mention, a huge fire hazard.

Love my goodwill stores. Always find a jewel. Often brand new . I find in maine the goodwill have a couple of rows of their goods that they sell that are brand new . So if you want new they have it . As for the donated items they have that also often from stores clearance so these are going to be also brand new , Sometimes with tags on . Just bought a beautiful genuine coach bag for $ 15 all leather. You just never know what you'll find just awesome. Come on in and check them out you'll be glad you did.

Not really any complaints from me. There is no service, but it's goodwill so you don't need service. Obviously, the products are second hand, but I can usually find some good things, and there are some products that aren't second hand. There are changing rooms, and books, and clothes, and a whole random section of things. Good place but nothing special.
