Visiting from Western Michigan for work, I was told from a colleague that this was a must stop for Ice Cream in the area. It didnt dissapoint! I got the recommended Pistachio Ice Cream. It was phenomenal. I'll have to come back again, before I leave.

Great place to finish my tour of Central Coast! The staff is the best. Very friendly locals and great atmosphere.I got the staff favorites of pistachio and coffee. The flavor of each is great and it is so fresh. Very happy my friend told me about them.

I have loved Dormans for many years nut allergies has kept me away for some years though.THIS YEAR they went above and beyond expectations. A friend asked if they could accommodate my allergies and DORMANS SAID YES!It is a great place for ice cream and it had to be soft serve but who cares. Teamwork of 2 people gloves and more and it was all no cross contamination.Use your own judgment obviously, but it is definitely my happy place this summer!

This place has strayed far from what it used to be. Back when the original owners used to make the icecream it was phenomenal. Then the grandkids (I believe) took over it started going downhill fast. It was no longer homemade icecream and the taste wasn't the same. However I won't be going back for a total different reason. Over the summer my wife and I took our eight year old daughter and her friend there for some icecream after a long day at the beach. My daughter has a purse that she keeps a huge collection of business cards in. She loves collecting them and see no harm in that. Anyhow she grabbed a card that was sitting on the counter that was setup like a display. My wife and I both thought the same that she was grabbing a business card. It turned out that they were gift cards and the girl at the register quickly scolded her and told her to put it back. We told her what our daughter does and we both thought they were business cards. She proceeded to act like she was stealing and I even mentioned how can someone steal a empty gift card. It was crowded that evening so we let it go and got our icecream then went home. Only reason I'm writing this is because on the way home my daughter kept mentioning of how embarrassed she was and I kept telling her it's okay and that she didn't do anything wrong. I was going to write this a few months ago and as time went on I've forgotten about this. Yesterday while I was at a store with my daughter she was very hesitant about taking a business card and asked the cashier acting really scared. I asked her what was going on and she mentioned this incident at Dormans. That's when I realized that she was traumatized by that incident. Something so innocent and she really enjoyed collecting has made her think she did something wrong. Next time something like this happens I hope the cashier explains to the child what a gift card is instead of treating them like a thief.

Hands down the best ice cream in Maine. An institution that is well loved for good reason.

Love this place! So glad it's still here even after all these years. Seamless transition from one local family to another. The ice cream choices are great. Quality place!

Best ice cream in Maine! We went back twice during our visit. Everything tasted homemade and slow churned. We tried the pumpkin, ginger, mocha chip and Oreo flavors. The ginger was recommended to us by a friend and was a favorite.

Recently, many people have been complaining about the cards outside on the counter of the order window being business cards. The cards themselves say 'Dorman's Dairy Dream Gift Card' on each individual card and also the container they are in is labeled as 'Gift Cards'. We do like to keep as many gift cards as possible unless someone is buying one so there isn't any confusion with the customer when they return to use an empty gift card. If at some point you have come and had any confusion about the gift cards on the counter, I am sorry. We hope to see you again soon.

I've been coming here since the 80's, but they don't serve real ice cream anymore - the place appears to be under new management, with new products. The "ice cream" I was served in July 2023 was not made with real cream - the rich, smooth, creamy deliciousness that no other ice cream parlor in New England could match for decades is no more. My partner and I only ate a few bites before throwing our treats out - that's not ice cream, and it's not what I expect of Dorman's DAIRY Dream. This is a sad end to an iconic Maine establishment.

Delicious creamy ice cream! Service was good and prompt. I personally tried Mocha Chip and Pumpkin, my husband had Red Raspberry.Parking can be a bit limited but if you are patient you will get a spot!

Arguably the most delicious ice cream in the region. Don't let the gravel lot and homely look of the place fool ya! Personally I prefer a sundae because they usually give me two cherries on top! No pics cuz the ice cream doesn't last that long.

Absolutely the very best ice cream I have ever tasted! The blueberry thick was out of this world! If only I could have taken some home! The young lady who served us was so cute and a beautiful smile. She was working alone and slammed, 10+ people in line, and she never missed a beat. Outstanding in every way! We went back 3 times! Do not miss this stop!

Usually a bit of a line, but always worth the wait! Parking can be a little tricky during peak hours, but there's typically a space available.Homemade ice cream in a variety of flavors, plenty of toppings to choose from, and great selection of specialty ice cream concoctions ensures there's something for everyone in the family when you stop by!

Great place, historical local establishment. Used to go there all the time in the 70s. Happy local Toyota dealership bought the place to keep it going.

Terrific! A homemade pistachio that was probably as good as any I have ever had. My only suggestion would be ditch the dyes. If you are making your own ice cream, why put in the crazy food coloring?

Antagonistic for people with food allergies. I'm sure this place is great for most people, but skip it if you have food allergies. After my conscientious child mentioned she has a peanut allergy while ordering, we were told by the 17-year-old manager that we were only allowed to get soft serve. My husband explained that it was fine as long as they rinsed off the scoop before they scooped hers (we understand our risk and the relatively mild degree of her particular allergy). Instead of trusting us to choose this risk for ourselves, the staff insisted they would only give us soft serve. It seems they are erring on the side of protecting themselves from liability at the risk of turning away a minority of customers. Strangely, we had much friendlier service at the "corporate" DQ right down the road, where they immediately accommodated our needs. Sweet service and covered picnic tables to enjoy our treats.

Not being from the area this was a spontaneous visit. As I passed the location, I inquired to the person driving who said that Dorman's was delicious all home made ice cream. Excited to try it, we stopped, not realizing it was 10 minutes before they closed. The young lady still took our order but there was talk in the background about how they should close earlier. We did get out order timely and without issue other than the sundae cup being filled to the brim which made for a mess. Bite after bite. The ice cream was very good (I tried the chocolate and the caramel with hot fudge) but not amazing as was expected.

Dormans is a nataslgic ice cream stop right off the main drag heading into the mid-coast region! They've been around for years and are a great addition to the area!

Doorman's is a great local ice cream place that is very popular and gets busy during peak ice cream weather. More often than not you'll see a long line. But the line moves quickly and the wait is well worth it. Very good hard ice cream and generous sizes too. Customer service is always fantastic.

I was satisfied with the ice cream here. It certainly wasn’t the best that I have had, but it was good. The ice cream was creamy and not overly sweet. It was reasonably priced, too. They don’t have a great selection of flavors, especially unique ones, but the standard will do. I would go back if I were in the area longer.

Not sure where all the glowing reviews come from. Super close to a busy road, not very clean, my raspberry chip had almost no raspberry flavor, and how does an ice cream stand have no cones? I was hoping for far more based on the reviews. I can only assume this place was once far superior to its current status.

We are visiting family here and traveled from central TN. We are happy many local shops and eateries are open so we can explore and try out new things. The ice cream was so delicious and creamy and I was happy with the ice cream selection - something for everyone! The cotton candy was a big hit with my kids. They were being very careful with COVID-19 precautions so we had to lay out a towel to eat our ice cream on the ground instead of enjoying a seat, but aside from that we were very pleased!

Greatest ice cream on the mid-coast of Maine! My wife and I enjoyed our frozen treats here on our honeymoon! Service is top-notch as well—the workers were so friendly!

While the food is typical a lot of fried food, and the ice cream is still good (maybe not quite as fresh as it once was) overall if you're in the mod coast, Rockland area you should stop bu and grab something, especially either their ginger or caramel ice cream, they are worth it. I hope that they continue to work on their food menu and recipes and not try to do everything and instead focus being the best with a few things.

The usual problem with these small but popular Independent places: gigantic servings! 😁 We each ordered a single scoop. The server apologized to my wife for the size of her cone, and mine was only slightly less overflowing. The ice cream was delicious, and the service, despite the length of the line, was very quick.

Ice cream, milkshakes, extra thick milkshakes, sundaes all made with fresh homemade ice cream. The people in line around us were raving about their selections. We all had blueberry milkshakes. Blueberries were fresh Maine berries. Shake was very creamy. I'd take a photo, but it is all gone.

Could not express my love for this spot enough. They give you extremely generous portions. We always get a small vanilla ice cream for our dog and they even had a discounted rate for him. Very impressed and absolutely will return.
