This was such a beautiful place. My husband and I live in Maine and wanted to have a little weekend getaway and not go too far. This was perfect. A little gem. The off-season time is my favorite time not having to deal with all kinds of people and traffic etc. This is exactly what we needed for our weekend away, time to ourselves. Their common room was pretty awesome, stocked with snacks, drinks, and anything you may need or have forgotten (I was able to use an umbrella, didn't expect rain)Thank you for such a great experience.

We are Mainers, and LOVE this hidden gem (especially in winter when we can enjoy the quiet)! Beds are insanely comfortable and the hospitality is top notch. Our fur baby loves it even more. The view is spectacular. Wonderful for a romantic getaway, or a place to cozy up and watch the water and enjoy the local trails!tRooms: Wonderfully appointed and comfortable beds!

This is a magical place. Step out of your car and step into another world. Welcome to a town where the people are real, history is alive, and nature regenerates the soul. The view from the room left me speechless. The binoculars on the coffee table allowed me to indulge my curiosity. Management is local. The mother daughter duo made me feel like I was staying at my sister's house. Both were eager to share the amazing history of this little town which I throughly enjoyed. The common area is stocked with games, books, snacks and coffee. I especially enjoyed the books about the history of Stonington. The room was clean and basic. The decor is older which reflects the unique personality of this historical town. Inn on the Harbor is not a chain hotel or resort so don't expect the usual. It's the unusual which makes it a five star experience in my book.

This was perfect for me! Very dog friendly. I stayed in the winter, so road noise was minimal. The road side rooms probably are a bit noisy with traffic in the summer? The nice restaurant right next door was a bonus!!!! Common area was super well stocked. We grabbed the cribbage board and some morning goodies and essentials. Room had a fully stocked kitchenette, which was really nice!

Loved this rental! The town is small, but homey. The rental is in the smack dab middle of town so your a part of it all! I heard it's the lobster capital but needless to say it's a working harbor, so from your room you can see what maine lobstermen and boatmen alike live from the comfort of your bed out the huge waterfront windows they provide. Also they are pet friendly! Super cute updated bathrooms and everything you'd need for a few day stay! I would recommend this airbnb before anything else!

I Loved the view, Big beautifully furnished and decorated room, comfy bed and Spacious bathroom with lots of counter space and shelves for our toiletry items! We watched the sunset over the bay and the lobster fishing boats bring their catches in to the building across from us. It was a new interesting experience for us. You will enjoy staying here.My only caution is at night the little refrigerator kept making a “rap, rap, rap, rap, rap” sound each time the motor cut off. I told the staff when we left and they said they’d get it fixed quickly. I hope they did.Walkability: We walked to a nearby restaurant for dinner and breakfast.

We stayed here for Christmas. It was our first time staying in a small town in Maine in the winter and the city was so quiet and peaceful. We really enjoyed the view in our room. It was so good we could easily have stayed there if the weather was too cold and just read books by the window and enjoyed the ocean views, but lucky for us it was unseasonably warm and we got to enjoy some of the parks and trails on the island. My only regret was not coming on a day when the mailboat was running to check out Isle au Hault nearby. We'll have to come back and do that.Everything in our experience was touch-free and digital from checking in to checking out to asking our hosts questions via text message and it all worked perfectly.I would definitely recommend this property.

Just wanted to share on our stay at Inn on the Harbour - there was NOTHING that was needed that was not already provided for a traveler! We stayed in the Lewis R French room (village side) and it was absolutely great. The room was set up up for travelers and was spacious and CLEAN! The set up in the common area or lobby was everything we needed. The deck was also wonderful - great views and set up for what a traveler needs and wants! The inn is right downtown directly on the harbor, but was not too noisy and was close to additional parking. I would give this hotel 10 stars if possible.Rooms: SpaciousCLEANSet up with everything we needed!Loved the setup in the lobby/common areaThe deck was awesome!Nearby activities: Lilly PondBarred IslandSo much more!Safety: Very safe! No worries there!Walkability: Near fishing harbours and stores and restaurants and on the ocean!

I was lucky enough to get a room here for the Lobster Boat races. The rooms are very clean. I stayed in the Grace Bailey. The bed was very comfortable. But best of all, they have a deck overlooking the harbor. Plenty of chairs and tables. The one and only thing that could have been better would be to have a later check out time of 11 instead of 10.

We have had the most amazing time in Deer Isle/Stonington this weekend and our stay at the Inn on the Harbor has been incredible. From the breathtaking views to the very spacious and clean room we are leaving with a renewed appreciation for the beauty of the island. We will definitely be back and stay at the Inn on the Harbor. If you’re looking for a place that is quiet, peaceful and overall very comfortable the Inn on the Harbor is the place to stay. If I could give them more stars I would. Looking forward to coming back again soon.

Checked out this morning but didn't want to leave. Such a warm and wonderful place to rest for a few days. Love that it was off the beaten path. The view from our room was to die for. I recommend trying to secure a room on the top level. We stayed on the ground floor and the people above us were noisy with their loud boots/walking.Inside the room was very spacious, warm and so very comfortable.Love the surroundings. Thank you.

I was after an authentic Maine visit - avoiding 'touristy' areas was the goal. Our two night stay in their Mary Day room was perfect. The views and the sounds of a working lobster harbor right outside your door is magical. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. Stonington ME is a delightful town well off the beaten path. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The bed was comfy, the water pressure good and water hot. The drive to the island is packed with stunning views. Our drive to visit Acadia was scenic and after a day of hiking the quiet comfort on our deck overlooking the harbor with a bottle if wine was perfect. Can't wait to visit again!

The Inn is gorgeous, well maintained, pet friendly, and the customer service is awesome. The views from the deck are breathtaking and the deck furniture is clean and comfortable. The bathroom is sparkling clean and the bed is very comfortable. The town is delightful. We enjoyed walking to and trying new restaurants. We loved all of our meals. The only downside is that our upstairs room had a fan instead of an air conditioner. We highly recommend Inn on the Harbor.

Peaceful, lovely views, quiet. Comfortable. Perfectly charming town and a respite from the super crowded touristy Bar Harbor area. Utterly charming Main Street location, enjoyed walking to dinner at the acclaimed restaurant half a block down the street, talking to locals at the farmers market - I got my favorite apron, some beautiful wooden spoons and some other treasures. It’s a remote town- plan on staying put or long travel times.

Inn on the Harbor was a surprising paradise. We stayed in The Angelique which is on the end of the building with a great view of the harbor. The outdoor deck faces the harbor and has plenty of seating to just relax. We spent quite a bit of time out here by the firepit and watching lobster boats head out. They also have a common area which had drinks and snacks available. We have raved about this place since we returned home and hope to come back for a future visit.

Wow, what a view! Each room has its own deck looking out on the harbor. (We stayed in the American Eagle room.). Rooms are spacious and comfortable.Stonington is a low-key not-too-touristy working fisherman's harbor.Staff was very friendly and helpful. No check in - this is more like an Airbnb, though you can book direct. Would definitely return!

We spent two wonderful days and nights at this fabulous Inn right on the water. We stayed in the Victoria Chimes with a breathtaking view of the ocean. The deck was right outside our picture window with the water lapping under it. Very relaxing. The entire Inn is meticulously maintained and very well appointed. The breakfast is all home made and fantastic as are the hosts. It was a once in a lifetime experience that we plan to relive again next year.

This establishment is under new management, the "Ohana Inns" and no longer run by Dana and Jay, the local proprietors. It's unclear where the Ohana Inns are located, but they don't appear to have any on-site staff and advertise their rooms for cheaper via 3rd party sites like AirBnB than they do directly from them, which feels like a sketchy ripoff. They do a good job at keeping guests fully informed, but the lack of onsite service can make things difficult. For example, we attempted to enjoy the back deck to sit quietly and stargaze as we were invited to by the Inn, but several rowdy clientele were there after quiet hours. Their dogs, unleashed, began barking loudly and running towards us. The clientele seemed to believe they had absolute run of the place, and without onsite staff there was no oversight of this. The shock of almost being attacked by a dog made it difficult to sleep, and the patrons remained loudly conversing past midnight right outside our window. This never would have happened with the previous inneepers.Further to this, you can tell the new proprietors don't share the same local love of Stonington as the previous ones did. If you view their social media accounts prior to May, 2022 you'll find a plethora of posts informing others of local happenings, supporting local community efforts, fellow small businesses, and doing their best to help their guests and the community they belong to. Now, no such helpful and supportive posts exist, and it reflects quite a bit on how the inn as changed.Observations aside, the Inn on the Harbor has some wonderful views. It's clean. It's got charm. It's nicely decorated but certainly not overly fancy. The previous owners did a good job making this a comfy place. I've stayed in 3 rooms and each was proper, had it's own charm, and felt like a good and comfortable place to stay.

Rooms are great. bed was nice, cute little working fireplace, nice harbor view.Breakfast could be better, it was just a bag with a couple banana's bottles of water and granola bars. Local restaurants are closed Monday and Tuesday. As for Location , it's pretty much the middle of nowhere which if that's what you're looking for, it's good for.Everything is closed Monday and Tuesday on the island. Shopping is tough, there's one little convenience store, so come with everything you might need, I couldn't find a can opener anywhere, at the one store open they didn't have any and I couldn't find any staff at the hotel to ask. Couldn't find the ice machine.Overall , the rooms are great, and you can't beat the price. But you'll want to make breakfast plans.

We loved staying there! The rooms, views and new owners were extremely nice and it has a very friendly atmosphere. Quaint and peaceful. A lot of activity on the harbor to watch all day long, if you chose. The breakfasts were great and very tasty! The people in town were friendly and helpful with local activities and restaurants. All good food and locally comfortable down home feeling. We would recommend it highly to anyone! Children and adults were very welcomed. A great place to spend some restful time!

My husband and I absolutely LOVED this place. We had the Timberwinds room---beautiful view onto the harbor. I could have sat there all day and just looked out the picture window. The bed and chairs were very comfortable, which was a big help since it rained some of the time we were there and we stayed indoors. The room is not large, but completely adequate. It included a mini fridge and TV with cable. We really appreciated that there were excellent window blinds as there are three windows and lights from the harbor coming in. Those blinds kept out all the light as we slept. Enjoyed a private entrance up to our room from outside. They do serve continental breakfast--homemade bread to toast and juices, but we went across the street for our meals. Friendly and polite staff, a book in our room included many attractions nearby that weren't online, and a lovely, lovely view onto the harbor. I hope we can get this room again someday!
