This is my first time with VCA Standish.I have a new hound/lab puppy who is about 10 weeks old. The staff is awesome! Best experience I have had when starting a new pup.I also love their puppy plan which sets up monthly payments, so as not to have to pay full amounts at time of visit . I highly recommend them and love forward to Dallas’s next visit!

I have a two year old. rescue pup who is extremely fearful of people. After trying two other vets with dismay, third time was the charm with VCA Standish. The vet tech Sophie and Dr. Nelligan were incredibly gentle and patient with my pup, and had the skills to provide a full exam within his limits, unlike the last vet we tried. I am so grateful they made it feel like a safe experience for both of us. They were kind, gentle, informative, and amazing! I am so thankful we now have a vet we can trust! Also, they gave us a great goodie bag for our first visit, which was a delight with actually useful items, and was such a nice gesture to top off the welcoming feeling. Thank you VCA for all you do!

They are just amazing even with covid happening! We have 2 pups and they came out one at a time and called with updates on each pup. I love how they care for our pups! We had an issue with a porcupine they had one of our pups in quick on a Saturday and a holiday weekend! Thank y'all love them

The best Veterinarian practice I've ever been to. They coordinated a time on Saturday to allow me to bring both of my pets at the same time (cat and dog). The staff is very friendly and the Dr is extremely knowledgeable, kind and everyone just seems to love what they do and it shows. Definitely 5 stars!

Standish Veterinary Hospital is a wonderful place for pets and their people. The staff makes clients feel like old friends. They greet you and your pets by name and with a smile. Animals get the best medical care and preventative treatment. The vets and techs have an abundance of knowledge and patience as well as a true love for animals and it shows. My animals are completely relaxed and happy to visit. The vets explain our pets' health in detail and in plain English. They call to see how your pet is doing after a procedure. They welcome questions and never make me feel silly for my concerns. I've been trusting them to care for my numerous furry family members since the 1980's. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

I have been taking my dogs there for over 25 years. I had a golden retriever who lived to be 17 (almost unheard of in golden retrievers) and a miniature long-haired dachshund who lived to be one month shy of his 18th birthday. I know that it was their responsiveness, knowledge, and outstanding care that contributed to both dogs living such long lives. I live in Westbrook and wouldn't go anywhere else for veterinary care. They were so wonderful when I had to put my sweet Max down recently and Dr. Vicky Morin sent me the nicest hand written sympathy card after. Weeks later I went to pick up his cremains knowing how difficult it would be and Carol came out to the car to see how I was doing. I cannot say enough about Dr. Nelligan, Dr. Morin, Dr. Norman, Kim (like Carol, she's been with Standish Animal Hospital for years and is always so kind and helpful), Carol, and all the of the staff. From the moment you call or walk through the door until you leave, everyone you encounter is so friendly and professional. They know how important your animals are to you and treat them as if they were their own. I am getting a puppy in November and will be bringing him/her there for their veterinary care.

I just moved to Standish from California and made an appointment with VCA for our two dogs just to establish a new vet. A month before their appointment, both of my dogs got ear infections which prompted a visit a month earlier than planned. I brought both dogs in today for their ears and ended up also having them vaccinated for a few things that were not problems in California. I am extremely pleased with how comforting and gentle they were towards my dogs, especially since one is a very nervous rescue. I was also preparing to pay an arm and a leg after agreeing to the vaccines that I had no intention of doing today, but I was shocked in a good way and feel VCA is very reasonably priced. I had a great experience and feel at ease that I now have excellent care established for my two dogs.

I've always had a 4+* experience at this facility. It has undergone some hierarchical changes, as well as staff changes, but the compassion and quality of care have always been great! The new VCA corporate style, along with the myVCA app, has started to fix some of the appointment reminder issues I used to experience from the former structure. Before the VCA "takeover" I would regularly bring my pets for one issue or another every 4-6 months and would get mailings in November telling me an animal was due for a booster the previous March - yet I may have brought that same animal they're referencing for an April and October appointment - so thank goodness this new system is getting itself together!I would definitely recommend it on a personal level, especially now.

So friendly! From the front desk staff, to the medical assistant who took us in the room to the doctor. The kindness and exquisite knowledge of staff from start ti finish was top notch. They all clearly loved their job one girl expressing she commuted over an hour one way every day just to work there! I am very happy with my decision of becoming new patients of Standish Vet Hospital. We are new to the area and they were even friendly and helpful from the first phone call I made to them asking if they were taking new pups. Overall amazing facility and would highly recommend!

My Dog suffered a heat related problem and upon bringing him there, staff told No Doctor's available... 5 PM and they close at 6Pm! Really? Lots of staff and redirected me to another Facility. Really? He was a patient at this facility. My dog died! They coud have done something Like put an IV in him.... Something! Doctor leaves early and No One Capable of doing Anything ? I live in Standish, and depended on you for an emergency.Your Not a Hospital ....Your a clinic....If your animal needs Immediate care, look somewhere else. This facility wants the types of pedicure or warts. Meanwhile ill bury my dog who was a Patient of this facility. Where was the doctor? I relied on the wrong Facility. If you really care about your animal. Look towards Westbrook emergency care because you're animal depends on it.

Our last visit was a heartbreak for us. Our sweet cat, Tigger was very sick and we had no choice but to ease his suffering. The staff at VCA were very kind and compassionate and we thank them for helping us through the process. We will dearly miss him but in the end, he knew we were always with him. They were terrific! They got us right in. Tracked down 2 hard to find vaccines for us. They came out to the car and took Teddy in, gave him his shots, brought him back to us and we gave us a follow up for his booster shot! We love our vet.❤❤❤ We have used them since 1981 for a myriad of animals: cats, dogs, bunnies and guinea pigs. Always treated us right.

This is not emergency, it's a regular clinic. You have to be a client for your animal to go to that "hospital" I had a dog with mastitis I walked in at 530 on the dot and asked if someone could just take a look but they said their last client was at 430 even though they close at 6pm. The lady specifically said we are not emergency.Really disappointing when it says hospital on the sign. They may be good but that is just dumb.

Needed help fast early Saturday morning. My dog had gotten hold of and had eaten a cube of mice poison. The closest open Vet was VCA in Standish. The staff twice toldme that they don't treat emergencies and that Id have to make an appointment!! All I needed was some ipecac! I wonder if the vet knows how dumb this sounded to me? I ended up in Portland but I saved the dogs life. No thanks to VAC!!

I trust them to care for my fur babies, been taking them here for 15 years. Every employee from the front desk to the veterinarians are amazing and genuinely care about the pets and their people. They are doing a great job of keeping everyone safe during this pandemic.
