Dump. Dirty not many choices and what there is is outrageously expensive. Captive audience I guess. To top it off one of staff was quite rude and not helpful at all. Pack your own bags while she watches you waiting for payment. ☹

Each time I go to the checkout some items are not programmed into their scanner. Each time the clerk just makes a wild guess as to the price. This has saved me over $17 in the past week over the prices on the shelves but it was not so good for the guy ahead of me in line who had a can of beans and the check-out clerk guessed the price should be $3.89 (probably $3 over the correct price).

Best butchers on the island. Adam, Cam and Anthony cater to your every needs. Their seafood is fresh priced competitively. Buttermilk biscuits are yummy. Bring your own bags.

My wife and I are gluten- and dairy-free and we found a wide array of options to choose from!

Updated Edit: Follow the sales circular specials for weekly affordable items if you need to budget. The crew is really nice and helpful.Grateful to have this resource close especially during summer when travel off island can cost more in gas than any increase in price.Good if you're in a pinch and the traffic, crowds or distance to head back to the mainland are more than you'd care to deal with. Prices on many of the products seem to have a pretty heavy island tax, so be prepared if cost is a factor.Selection isn't bad, so at least you can get what you might need for your stay.

Nice little grocery right in the middle of the island. Plenty of options and decent prices. Clean. Staff was patient as we stayed past closing to finish shopping.

very pricey- $60 for two basic rib-eyes- $9 for 5 slices of bacon. Cashier like to throw food down the register carelessly.

We stopped here for picnic food (beer, wine, cheese, meat, peanuts, chocolate, and oddly, bottle openers, and the place filled the bill handsomely for casual home food and provisions.

Well stocked but pricey. If you're in a pinch and need something quick, it's worth it. Otherwise, pop into the Hannafords in Ellsworth for your big shopping trip.

Easy in easy out, comparable prices without the traffic going to Ellsworth.

Only okay if you’re in a pinch. The food is way overpriced and half of it isn’t even labeled as to what the price is. I also noticed that healthier choices were triple or quadruple the price I normally pay for, and it’s not right to take advantage of people just because they have food allergies and have to buy the healthier items out of necessity. We walked out with a single bag costing $58 (also had to pay for that bag) and felt a little bit dizzy from the absurdity.

Im giving 2 stars because the staff have all been friendly and helpful. This is an outdated grocery store with a fair selection (not for those with allergies such as Celiac). The prices are noticably jacked up on pretty much everything (when they actually put the prices on things, which half the time they don't). I got 1 bag of groceries for $50.... Oh, and they charged me for the bag! 😂 Long story short, it's worth the trip to bar harbor or off island

Great market for the back side of the Island. Prices a little higher than the mainland or Bar Harbor, but worth it. Butchers are great. They have a great assortment of good meats.I get pork belly from them when I want to make bacon.Bought some real San Marzano tomatoes from them today. Can't wait to make sauce!

Mostly terrible prices with occasional good deals. The store is structured strangely, with an odd bottleneck and only 3 registers to serve waves of customers. Combine this with the fact that they pay their employees quite badly for the work ($13 p/h, $15 with the seasonal bonus) and the fact that they frequently seem to ignore customers/are understaffed always creates a fairly unpleasant experience. If I weren't a local, I wouldn't go here because they don't rightly deserve the business. I just don't have a choice sometimes. Avoid if possible.

We came here looking for basmati, left with jasmati and a smile. Brian the meat man was so helpful, we looked to thank him but he was hard at work! Thanks Brian, you made this wonderful family feast possible, we bowed our heads and tonight we called it Brian instead of Grace. Thanks Bri-guy

Well-stocked grocery store with all of the basics, a deli, bakery, great produce and hot, fresh meals to go at very decent prices. Lots of "extra" here to accommodate all needs. The prices are surprisingly good, given the location. I love stopping for lunch- unbeatable prices for fresh cooked meals!

Southwest Food Mart is a small grocery store that tries to act like a large one. They have a fair selection of goods but prices are somewhat high. Staff is very pleasant but sometimes are understaffed. They have only 3 checkout lanes. This means that you usually have an extended wait to check out. Overall a decent little store except during tourist season (End of May to end of October).

Shopping here from out of town. Some items did not ring up so the person helping the cashier bag groceries told her what to put in. One item was bread which she entered as $3.99 and there was a $2.99 IGA sale tag on the bread! I figured out that I got overcharged around $10 for some items. If you are going to shop here, pay attention to what price they enter for items that don’t ring up!!!

Showed up at 7:57 they close at 8. We wanted to grab a few quick things for the morning after being out on the ocean all day. Walked up to the door at 7:57 and the door was locked. They showed me the clock on the wall said 8:01 I showed them my phone and told them they need to get on the same time as the rest of the world. Manager yelled at us as we drove away “I am the manager and I lock the doors at 8:00!, if you want to shop you should show up early”. Small tourist town is usually hospitable to tourists, not rude and hostile.

Nice place but for me almost useless...No organic or gluten free options outside of I believe 1 meat and crackers. They've got to update ...Island or not...Island very lived on an island wherw tourism was short due to weather. If you don't catch up with the times and how people and ESPECIALLY tourist eat...you will fail on buisness.

Good grocery store with nice selection including precooked food ready to eat. It is a bit pricey but that is expected on the island. Friendly staff was happy to help. 😉
