“General store” gives a sort of old timey, find the essentials sort of vibe, but the Southport General Store has taken that idea into modern life.Yes, you’ll find the essentials, but not in a dusty shop with only super basic brands- you can actually get nice stuff here! Lots of options for good snacks/condiments etc, an excellent selection of not-garbage wine, and a selection of sandwiches and other to-go food. They have seating outside to eat and play cornhole, and the entire place is just adorable.

I king Julian love the Southport general store. Me and my lemur family have a house on Southport near the general store in the summer. When I need to feed myself I go to the general store. They have everything a human and a lemur would need. As the lemur king I have to throw parties for the other lemurs. When I do this I order pizza from the general store to use at the party. Every lemur loves the pizza. I king Julian, king of the lemurs give this establishment a rating of 5 whole stars.

We are so lucky to have this community gathering place! It is so convenient, with all the essentials, a great selection of hot food and sandwiches, and the wine and beer selection is excellent.

Excellent sandwiches and great selection of gourmet food. They have a room full of beer and wine with a solid selection there as well. Don’t forget multiple flavors of Maine Root soda and Moxie…they have it.The Southport brownie was the best. It’s a derivation of brownie, blondie, and chocolate chip cookie.

Wonderful little store... staff is always very friendly and accommodating! They sell a little bit of alot of items. My husband & I visit this area every year, and always make at least 1 trip to this store to pick up some provisions. Today we purchased a couple subs, which they made fresh for us with whatever ingredients we wanted, some ginger brew which I like to drink with a lime wedge (they had fresh limes), and the Boothbay Register. They had all kinds of salads and their strip steaks looked awesome too, as always!

Great food, great staff and great owners. This place never disappoints whether it's their pizza, sandwiches on the best crusty baguettes. Their beer and wine selection are amazing with lots of local craft brews available.

Hailing from Aroostook, my customer service standards are rather high. There is quite a change in the atmosphere in the store this year. Hours were not posted. I walked in 3 minutes before closing time (5:57pm). A woman approached looking annoyed. She did not greet me. She said “We’re not making sandwiches!” I asked, “pizza?” Her response was, “No. We close in 3 minutes.” Got it. I took a quick look around for a few provisions and she announced “Two minutes!” I looked out the window to see if my partner had arrived on foot. She observed this and I explained I drove ahead from the boat yard. “Doesn’t matter! We close in 1 minute!” I told her I understood and left. Simply put, she wasn’t nice. In years past, I probably didn’t show up just before closing time, but people were always so friendly. Business must be exceedingly good for them during a pandemic that they can afford to treat people with disregard and unpleasantness.

Owners are great! Sandwiches are delicious! Not what you'd expect from a little store. They have a great selection of grocery as well as wine! Service is always fast and courteous!

Nice little small town general store, good lunch (sandwiches) as well. Employees were very friendly, and even offered to sing and dance while they prepped the food. Will definitely go back when I'm in the area.

Cute gift shop filled with quality Maine made items. General store food was pretty good. Italian wasn't quite up to snuff for these mainers. Friendly staff.

The Southport General Store is amazing! I have been coming here for years and still to this day remain hopelessly addicted to their breakfast pizza. I visit family in Southport at least five times a summer, and you can bet that every single time I am in town I swing by to grab something to eat here!

It was my first time there. It was a Saturday and they were close to closing time. I gave it an ok because I didnt get a chance to see it in full operation. The smell of pizza was in the air and it smelt really good. They also have an area to sit to eat.

We had pizza tonight from Southport General Store and it was delicious! The best pizza ever - a thick, spicy sauce, plenty of toppings, a nice crust a little on the thick side, all in all an excellent pizza.

Great selection of wine (from everyday bottles to nice splurges) and knowledgeable staff, good beer selection, Boars Head sandwiches, good pizza, and sundry convenience store items. Picnic food, hors d'oeuvres, snacks and the local papah. There's a place to sit inside, and also outside in the summer. A gem!

Convenient store to stop and shop. Be advised they won't make sandwiches or meals after 3pm (just what they have on display). And they mean 3:00 exactly!But worth a stop is on the island.

This was a nice general store on Southport Island with a lot of items to choose from but there prices were a little high. This is the only store on the island which makes it very handy when you need something without having to run to the regular grocery store.
