The BEST BEST BEST ice cream! A zillion amazing flavors, all home made (right there, on premises). Delicious soft serve, too. Waffle cones, waffle bowls, sugar cones. Truly tasty hot fudge, fruit sauces, everything is fresh. Special creations are what draw me: super thick milkshake-like custom creations, and stuff they call novelties -- unique in-house made treats, my fave is a large chocolate covered vanilla ice cream frozen thing, the interior is loaded with ribbons of fudge and peanuts. On Tuesdays, all novelties are HALF PRICE!!

So many flavors and combinations for a smallish shop. We stopped in after dinner, so I guess around 7. Drive-thru was busy with the walk-up closed. Not really enough tables in case people don't like eating in their vehicle but a nice spot still.

The ice cream here is Amazing. The staff are pleasant and friendly. The only thing that's a down fall is you need to wait in a line usually of 3 to 6 cars before your turn most of the time. The wait will be worth it though!

I think this is the best ice cream I’ve ever had . The maple walnut hard packed ice cream is DELICIOUS! They have a wide selection of other flavors , plus specialty ice cream creations. The staff are SO PLEASANT ! Thanks for providing such delicious treats !

Only drive thru service. I'm not sure why, but there are picnic tables available to eat your treat.The available options were great. The Venice was great, and snappy.

Absolutely love it here! The drive thru is such a great idea for those with kids and can’t/don’t want to get out of the car. Very friendly and quick staff. They have a huge selection of ice cream and other tasty treats as well! You won’t regret coming here in a hot day!

They have a lot of ice cream flavors. We had a cyclone. They have cones, sundaes 🍨 and a variety of other ice cream 🍦 items available. Currently, they are drive through only.

Any of those 'Best Ice Cream Places in Maine' lists that don't have Backs Dairy Bar on it is an illegitimate list and should not be taken seriously. Backs IS the best ice cream shop in Maine. After every visit, I can't imagine how they can outdo their customer service and quality of their creations on the next visit... but they always do. The peanut butter ice cream with peanut butter sauce is second to none.

Ice cream was great, but finding a place to eat it was challenging. It would be nice if they put up a few picnic tables for their customers. It was busy and hard to find a place to even park to eat in the car.

Fantastic Soft Serve & Home Made Ice Creams! Tons of Great flavours, at the best prices. (Avoid going to The Landing - it tastes SO MUCH BETTER here, and costs less!) Friendly service, nice outdoor tables to enjoy your treats. DOG TREATS AVAILABLE!!!! (Their soft serve might just be better than my home made ... maybe!)

Very tasty ice cream, especially on an exceptionally hot summer day. We stopped by at just the right time because the line in front of us was quite short and I was really excited to have mine quickly. We always enjoy getting ice creams at the Dairy on a regular basis in the heat of summer. Backs Dairy Bar never disappoints. Stop by and see what I mean.

Back's always has very nice friendly wait staff, and is a good value. It makes a great stopping point on a bike trip around China Lake, getting a medium soft serve coffee ice cream and a glass of ice water. I'm sure that their other ice cream is also very good, (my friend loved their blue raspberry dip), but I haven't branched out yet.

Backs is always a great visit. We drive up from Whitefield after work every once and a while, and the trip is always worth it. Since COVID started they have a drive thru, and they usually open until about 8pm (could differ after me writing this review). If you're driving down 202 headed for the coast, or coming back inland it's worth a stop.

Great ice cream from a local business. Their hard serve is great with tons of flavor selection and they're soft serve selection is great too. Black raspberry is my favorite!
