Sundog Solar did an excellent job installing my 29 solar panels. They were always on time. They kept me updated through the entire installation and also did all of the pre work such as permit, code enforcement, CMP and everything else that Sundog has to complete before they can start installation. They are consistently sending you emails about how everything is going and also explain exactly what they need you to do. It is a long process but Sundog makes it easy on the customer....it's just a matter of signing paper work throughout the whole process and being patient! The quality of the work from the installers to everyone in the office to the awesome electrician is by far very incredible. Sundog coordinates when the electrician and the installers meet at the customers home and they all work together. I definitely recommend Sundog Solar in Searsport, Maine!!

I love my solar field that Sundog Solar installed for me last year! My roof does not face south, so they worked with me to get the best option for my house set up. My electric bill was over $1000 in the winter prior to my solar panel install and this last winter I did not pay Versant for ANY electricity. They have a wonderful finance option that allows you to make a monthly payment that isn't any more than what you'd be already paying Versant. They did a fantastic job, and I highly recommend them to anyone and everyone!

All around great experience.I took my time with this decision given the costs involved and asked lots of questions. Sundog answered them all and walked me through the paperwork. (From my experience, give yourself 2 months for all the paperwork to go through because it requires your utility company to sign off on the installation which can be a slow process).The installation went smoothly and within a couple of days we were up and running. Currently two weeks in and the power produced is exactly as promised.I highly recommend this company!

I can't say enough how amazing these guys are! Sundog Solar was very much client-focused from day one when I reached out 2.5 years ago, and when I had a question about the difference in production numbers that CMP reports and that my panels report they gave me a full break down and explained it to me. My panels cover 94% of my energy use, and this isn't over 100% because they now power my 13,000 Christmas lights for the Holiday Season.I was told by another customer that they are a family and incorporate new customers into that family and man they were right! When I was setting up my solar panels I was talking with a few companies but Sundog kept standing out. They showed that they truly wanted what was best for me and my house. They wanted to make sure that what they were giving me was genuinely what I needed. And they were the most cost-effective by a landslide!I highly recommend Sundog Solar when you are considering putting panels on your house, they are quick and competent as well as thorough in their project planning and installation. And they are responsive years later when you have questions. I haven't encountered any problems with my panels, I don't know that I will, but I trust them to help if I ever need it.Welcome to the Sundog Family, you're going to love being a part of this one!

We are thrilled with the work that Sundog Solar has done for us! We first worked with them back in 2014, when they installed solar panels and heat pumps for us. We were greatly impressed with the care and quality of the work and their mission to help preserve our environment. So this year, when we decided we'd try to get off fossil fuels completely, it was Sundog Solar that we turned to. And they were able to install everything we were looking for: additional solar panels, another heat pump, and an EV charger for our electric cars. It has been a big project, with many workers involved, and every single one of them, from the office to the field, has been a gem--highly skilled, generous, flexible, adapting to unforeseen issues, and so kind and friendly. They all feel like dear friends, now, and we are so grateful to every single one of them. And they've brought our dream to fruition: we now run on solar power and 2 wood stoves. Sundog Solar designed and installed an off-grid system at our remote camp. This was a difficult installation and the team from Sundog rose to the occasion. When we discovered a defective circuit board in the new equipment, they were right out to replace the board and get us up and running again. After speaking with and obtaining quotes from multiple solar panel installation companies, we went with Sundog for a few reasons. First, they took the time to review our electric usage over a period of a year and designed a system that worked best for our lifestyle. They thoughtfully planned out the absolute best spot for the installation that would maximize the amount of time the panels would be exposed to sunlight so we'd get the most bang for our buck. And most importantly, they maintained effective communications. We never had to worry or wonder about what was going on or when something would happen. In addition, they took the time to assist us in filling out the required documents for the power company. It was a real positive experience and I'd highly recommended them.

After 2+ years, it feels like time to write a review: I installed a 7.9kW array in April 2018, choosing Sundog for the job after estimates and consults with 3 different installers. Danny Piper walked me through every detail on the phone the first time I called, gave me a great education and helpful guidance about how to get the best bang for my buck re size of array, type of inverter, etc. Every person on the Sundog team has been great to work with, from installers to electrician to the people in the office who have helped me sort out some inverter questions remotely. I didn't have cash to buy the system up-front, but it was easy to get a loan through the credit provider that works with Sundog. My monthly loan payments come out to the same $$ I'd be paying the power company on an annual basis, and the panels should greatly outlive the term of the loan. The system is working even better than promised and I always recommend Sundog to anyone who asks.

They handled all of the applications, paperwork, etc. The transition to solar was totally painless and seamless. Our system is working as expected producing all the power we need - don't let anyone tell you solar doesn't work in Maine!

I contacted Sundog about an electric vehicle charger installation in early July. The sales rep I spoke to said he’d have a quote for me by “the end of the day tomorrow.” Great. Thank you! A week passes with no quote. I call back and a different sales rep apologizes and promises a quote by “the end of the day tomorrow.” Okay. Two weeks pass with no response from Sundog. I call a third time and speak to a third sales rep. Same promise of turn around time on the quote. This time, I get an email back. hooray! The rep requests detailed photos of the house and panel to inform the quote. I provide requested photos. Then, nothing. I email, “any updates?” No response. Another week passes. I call back and the rep I corresponded with picks up and says, “oh... right. the boss said it’s not worth it for us.” That’s fine, Sundog. But have the decency to be upfront with your customers and not string me along for more than a month. I had planned to work with Sundog to expand my solar array and purchase a grid tied inverter if the level 2 install went well. Bummer. Would not recommend.

I was going to install multi-HVAC system in my house. Their rep did a site visit, made a quote, thus we made a contract with them and sent the deposit, which took over a month. In the morning of the installation day, the engineer came in and said they misevaluated, thus we need to install one less unit than the original plan and need to pay additional $550, or same number of unit as the quote for an additional $3,700 for additional outdoor unit. While looking at their reviews at solarreviews-dot-com, I just found that we are not the only case with such experience from Sundog. Sundog does not seem to think customer's time/effort/energy/opportunity-expense are of any importance. The owner of the business even told me that I should feel fortunate as they found their error before actually starting the work; at this moment I'm still not sure what he actually meant by this; if they found their error while working on the project, do I have to pay additional money for the same project? Probably he and I have a very different definition on "contract". In conclusion, I definitely do feel it fortunate to be out of business with Sundog.P.S. Today I asked the business owner to send our deposit back. From this unhappy e-mail correspondences, he mentioned "good luck with your project, I'm sure you will enjoy heating and cooling with mini-split heat pumps." As a non-native English speaker, I'm really not sure if he's trying to make fun of me or not.

I emailed several solar installers throughout Eastern and Bangor Maine about an installation of a small array at our camp. While the installation was too small of a project for Sundog Solar, Laura at Sundog gave me information on a website that sells and designs such systems and the names of local installers who may help.This was the type of service that you hope for, but sadly seldom get today.

No stars yet. Called for a quote, the salesman came to my home, took some pictures and reviewed my proposal. I can provide a copy of the proposal if needed. The quote included a cash price of $29,100.00, or we could finance the project, for $40,000 over 25 years. (this includes the cost 29,100+ fees, and interest on top later) I asked for a break down of the nearly $11,000 extra to finance, and was told this was "fees" because the finance company charges 25% to finance, plus interest. Which, $29,000 + 25% does not equal $40,000. This seems shady to me, because I called the finance company, Mosaic Solar Loan, and they told me they don't do this. Their practice is to provide financing, and to charge interest. So I am asking if anyone else has experienced this, or am I way out in left field here?

The SunDog folks put in 2 heat pumps for us last year, cut our fuel consumption by more than half. And on the few hot days we sure did enjoy the AC. It was amazing how much they did all in one day, each team member knew their job and it all came together like clockwork. They were neat, polite, on time and on budget. And they were very helpful to answer all of my questions thoroughly. Thanks !!

What a pathetic way to run a business. Said one thing and never followed thru. Reached out several times with no reaponse. Keep running your business like this and you'll be another memory. While the craze may keep you afloat for now it's only a matter of time before the well runs dry. Especially in a small state where word of mouth is everything. Sundog sucks would NEVER recommend
