They had absolutely lovely staff in, and were very knowledgeable about their fish and other animals. The tanks were all very clean and everything looked amazing, it's always nice to see good petstores in the age of not so many. Every animal seemed to be joyous, and that warmed my heart. The gerbils had mesh top tanks which is a nice thing to see when they are usually held in glass boxes(at other stores).

I've been coming here more and more frequently and have to say I really appreciate a few major things. I'll preface with I generally only shop for dog/cat products. I haven't explored their rodent/fish/bird selection, but it looks like they have some.Selection: Their selection in regards to pet food, pet furniture, pet toys, etc. are really great. Whatever your price point is or what your pet's dietary limitations are, they likely have it and it's likely reasonably priced. Also, their cat furniture is awesome.Pricing: Their pricing is better than other pet stores in the local area, including chains and smaller businesses. I'd say still competitive, but on the lower end which we can all really appreciate.Customer Service: Every time I patron this store, the workers are always extremely helpful and pleasant. The store is well organized and always stocked. They have a bulletin board with local pet events, grooming, vaccination events, etc.Overall, I've had wonderful experiences each time I've gone and felt passionate enough about it to leave a review so that definitely says something. Thanks for all you guys do.

Went here for the 1st time this morning. 2/21/24. We are from out of state. Thought this would be a good place to find some different decor for our fish tanks. They did have some different things than Petco and Pets mart. But the selection is very small. We found 1 small piece. The fish selection is small for the amount of tanks they have. All the fish that would have been cool to buy are not for sale.If you're one that follows my reviews, you know that customer service is my #1 thing. Every one said hi. But no one offered assistance or asked if we had questions. At checkout the cashier who I got the feeling was actually the manager walked away as we were paying, leaving us wondering what was going on. Another lady came up without a word and continued the transaction. She did politely wish us a good day. It was all quite odd. But the store looked clean for the most part aside from the fish tanks that needed some cleaning. But there was someone working on that. As a manager of a pet store myself, I was less than excited about this store. I don't see a need for us to return.

Went in to buy a hamster after preparing for months, I didn’t want to go to petco or anything big like that due to rodent mills. When I arrived I happily found out that most of the hamsters are born there. They currently have a few litters that are growing up before they can be sold. They have decent estimates on ages of pets etc. The hamster I bought seemed pretty friendly and was about 3 months old. He is doing great. They had a lot of staff to help work with me. They seem like they are really trying their best (picture is from the day I brought my hamster home)

Wonderful pet store I'm happy to have near me. The animals are very well cared for and they have an impressive aquatics section + actually have stuff for reptiles as well as live crickets at the same price as the chain stores. They also have a way, way, way better selection of gerbils in every color they come in that are bred in house. Very cool place!

I buy my dog food here, they have a fantastic discount program if your dog eats enough. Mine does not. Cool pet stuff too.Lighting needs to be upgraded. It always looks dark and gloomy.

They have a wide variety of fish and overall a well maintained system. Knowledgeable staff. See my tank pic below. I got all my cichlids here and the oldest cichlid I have from here is 6+ years.

Fish seem healthier here versus Petco, where I used to buy fish and supplies. Plus I like not being insulted by staff like I was consistently by one aquatics staff person at Petco. VerY knowledgeable and friendly staff.

I always enjoy shopping for my dog here. There's lots of selection and the staff is very helpful. Sarah K recently helped us find and fit a no-pull harness on our rambunctious puppy and it works great.

This store has been around since I was a kid. It use to be a great place to go and see animals and all the different products they had. Unfortunately they aren't anything they were before. They do have a wide selection of different foods for cats and dogs, some I have never even heard of. I wish they had a bit more for cats as there is only 2 aisles for them whereas dogs have over 5. The downside is that the prices are a bit high. A certain can of cat food that I get at petsmart for 1.49 is 2.06 there. But if you need any fish supplies or to purchase some fish, this is definitely the place to go. They have always had a massive selection of fish.

Ive been stopping here and checking out the aquatic section when I'm in the area. Pretty good selection of fish and aquatic plants. Pretty knowledgeable workers and its never too busy!

Do not buy a pet from this store! After researching the local pet stores, I chose this one because the animals seemed well cared for and the premises were clean. I purchased a guinea pig and requested that the staff check the gender multiple times. I was sold a male, told it was a female. No paperwork came with it. No additional information from the staff, either. They had an adorable 6 week old teddy guinea, and this one was much larger- larger than our full grown American Shorthair at home.3 months later our other guinea pig became pregnant. When I called, the response from the small animals manager was that it's "Not his responsibility" becuase "we have a policy of no returns on pets". I explained to him that this was store error and he informed me that they do not sell guinea pigs with guaranteed gender and that they will not refund my money. He also told me the guinea pig I was sold was 6 weeks old (it was not- it is much older, vet confirmed) and that if I had returned it within 7 days I could have been given a refund.I told him that none of the staff (including him, who I interacted with back in July) told me this or gave me any documentation reflecting it. I told him that it was store error and the store should own its mistake. He started raising his voice and interrupting me, speaking over me and telling me he "had more important customers to help right now". I told him I would leave a review. He responded with "Good, you do that" and hung up on me.The staff hasn't been properly trained to relay this information or the store needs a better documentation system. Just don't get caught in the same situation I am.Either way, I'm out over $50.00, I have four additional new guinea pigs to rehome, and I still have to find a loving place for this guy.

Gina, Sean, and Sara were absolutely amazing!! They went above and beyond with their customer service!! Compared to my horrid experience with Petco’s customer service. They were prompt, and friendly while prices may be a little more you get what you pay for!! Definitely recommend!

My fiance and I would very much like to compliment Jacob in the fish department. This guy is absolutely amazing and knowledgeable on anything you could ever want to know about whatever fish you have or tank setup you have. I will always call and ask him anything I need to know about my tanks and trust what he says. Absolutely fantastic to deal with and never makes you feel like you've asked a silly question. If every business had at least one employee like him it would most certainly benefit them.

Nice selection of dog toys. Unfortunately, they do not stand behind the products they sell. If something breaks or doesn't hold up, you cannot return the item without the owners approval. Be prepared for multiple trips to see if she's even there. Might as well throw it away and call it a learning experience.

Loved this place until we got to our 10th bag of dog food and had to fight to get our bag free which was the gimmic they tell people. Computers are so out of date they don't keep track! Keep receipts it's the only way to get the free bag. Btw 10 bags of the food is 500 bucks!Edit 2/12/23Went to get our 10th bag free and all of a sudden it's the 11th bag that's free not the 10th? How has it all of a sudden changed within a month??? That's now 590 we have to spend to save 60? Not worth it anymore, easier to order from chewy. Furthermore the customer service has gone down hill, very rude and uneducated about their store.

They carry the specific litter I use for my cats. Local stores have not been able to get it in stock. Albeit, it is a long drive from where I live. The staff in the store have been extremely helpful, welcoming and friendly.

We adopted one of the rescue beagles and needed a non choke collar. The staff was friendly and helpful. Location was clean and very organized. Will use this location again for our other pet needs.

Very large selection but 90% of items do not show the price. Picked up a crate that actually happened to have a price for it and got to the register and it was almost double the price tag. The cashier walked off and pulled the tags off the shelf and wouldn't honor the displayed price. Saw at least 4 employees in the store and three of them we standing around d chatting. Most likely will not return to pet quarters in Scarborough maine.

Friendly staff. Very helpful and knowledgeable. I'm not a fan of the prices. Dog crates online are 1/2 their asking price and same quality. Lucky for you my dog, Reese, likes Amanda in your Scarborough store. He listens to her better than he does me. She was also very helpful in my purchase decisions.

Staff in fish department not knowledgeable at all about basic things. So many sick and dying fish. And large fish that live there stuffed into small tanks. It's gross. Never going back.

Great selection of fish but very dirty tanks. The three tier betta tank they have on display was all green and crusted. The staff was not very friendly at all. They did ask if I knew how big one of the fish I bought could get but didn't mention the venomous spine it has.
