Everyday I find more and more great places in Scarborough, so glad we decided to move to this area! I needed my kittens nails trimmed and my vet wasn't available, so I went onto Google and this place came up. Convenient location and great staff!! I did the "walk in" option but Called ahead to make sure someone was there that could do cats. The owner/manager was super friendly and did a great job. She even showed me around the store after and recommended some yummy raw treats for the baby. Deff check this place out .

Great convenient little hole-in-the-wall pet store in Oak Hill, Scarborough. Only reason for the 4 star is because of the high prices and "high price" feeling the store gave off. (I understand some customers prefer this pampered type of place) The selection is ok, the store is clean, they seem to have appropriate hours. May be a little hard to find at first but it's there! Right next to McDonald's, if that helps!

I have spent more time than I care to acknowledge about whether to and how to write this review. We have been to Paws Applause 4 different times, hoping for a different outcome each time, and after every cut I am more disappointed. We have a mini Australian labradoodle, and the HACK job they call a groom is absurd. The groomer does not listen to our requests, our dog (who is 10 months) shakes (with anxiety which she typically never has) when handed off to the groomer and bolts for the door as soon as we come for pick up. If that’s not indicative I don’t know what is. Her eyes and bum-hole are carved out, her neck is shaved to the skin. I’m appalled at the way my doodle looks. Yes, hair grows back, but I had hoped after 3 HOURS, we would get something better than this. Not to mention, my dogs “spa” day was more expensive than any cut and color I have every received. Never. Again.

I'm always cautious about where I take my fur baby and try to research thoroughly before deciding who to trust. After having trouble finding anyone with availability, another groomer recommended this place and I'm glad she did! My dog had some pretty bad matting from lack of grooming during lockdown and covid reservations. It was bad. To the point that I was willing to put fear aside and take her somewhere. Scheduling was super easy and quick. They got her right in. The shop is clean and well-kept. There is a ton of merchandise to look at and most of it is very reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and listened to my concerns. There's also this super friendly cat there, Cheddar, who is very sociable and loving. She's like a little shop bonus. They finished grooming my pup, who is a senior toy poodle, in just about an hour and a half. When I picked her up she was shaved very short, but I was told this may be necessary. It wasn't so short that I was bothered by it and everything else was done just right. All in all, it's a great little place and we will be back again. If you need a safe place for your anxious or nervous fur baby, definitely consider Paws Applause!

These people are very rude. The guy at the counter could barely get a hi out after I said hello as I walked in. Then my dog spotted two dogs behind the gate in the grooming area and went over to say hello to them. The woman immediately pushed the dogs aside and closed the door behind her so my dog couldn't see them. The dogs were wagging their tails excited as my dog was approaching. Once she shut the door she gave me an ugly look and asked what I wanted. I told her my dog wanted to say hi to the dogs and she said she doesn't let strange dogs greet the other dogs. That's ridiculous to begin with but the dogs were separated by a gate. My dog weighs 12 lbs. and loves other dogs and the other dogs were wagging their tails in interest. All they would have done is seen each other through the gate. She was an awful woman who should not be in this business! Beyond that they have a limited selection and it isn't worth your trip. In the 10+ years I have had my dog I have never encountered someone so rude!

The groomer did not listen to my request. Instead my dog was just about shaved! Not groomed at all and there are patches where his skin shows. If I could I would rate them 0.

Jenna has been grooming my Tibetan for years. I have followed her to pause applause. I love that the fact owners actually work and run the store. The store is laid out beautifully. Neat, organized and very efficient. Really knowledgeable people as far as products and supplies go. But it was Jenna that got me here and I am so glad. As far as grooming goes, my dog has two coats of fur and I don’t exactly keep him combed out. Jenna is so patient with Toby and does a five star job every time I bring him in. This is my second Tibetan. I have 30 plus years of owning a Tibetan. She is the best groomer I have ever had. Seriously.

Our puppy needed her nails trimmed and a trim around her eyes. The staff was very helpful and very knowledgeable about my puppies breed. ( she is a cocker spaniel) they were quick for the mail and face trim. The price was very reasonable. A great first experience for my puppy at the groomers. We will be going back! The store also has a great selection of pet toys and supplies.

Yesterday was my first visit to Paws Applause as I am a new resident to Scarborough. Prices were VERY fair and comparable to the bigger box stores. Also, the staff working were very friendly and their "house cat" Cheddar, was the cutest thing I had seen in a while. I will definitely be back!

I am so happy we found Paws Applause to groom our Maine Coon Lucy! She was a matted mess after three weeks in isolation (iodine treatment) and they gently sheared her, taking the time to have her calm down on her own. We have been back since for a simple belly shave, again great results with little stress for our old girl. We will keep taking her there, the grooming staff is truly excellent and the prices very fair.

I needed to find a place that I could get my dog groomed, as well as purchase supplies, buy pet food and obtain sound advice about caring for and training my dog. I am very impressed with Paws Applause, as the owner Tracey, a Master Groomer and award winning dog trainer herself, works hard to help customers to be the best dog owners they can be and to help keep your dog healthy and well groomed, through her advice, years of experience, knowledge of grooming and the products that she makes available to sell. There is an incredible variety of different types of food. There are natural, traditional and raw and she will carefully match the needs of your dog with the best type of food for it. She is passionate about dogs and dedicated to her profession, and it is reflected in the attention to detail and the carefully chosen staff, whom reflect her philosophy of excellent customer service and knowledge, based on experience and continuing education. Although she has only owned the business for little more than a year, I believe that with her work ethic, commitment to customer service and quality products, she is establishing Paws as a place where you can get everything you need, feel good about your purchases, be confident that you are getting sound advice and more importantly, that everyone there will treat your dog as though it was their own. Even if you went there before when it was operated by the previous owner, and especially if you went there and you did not have the best experience at that time, I highly recommend that you go back again and give her the opportunity to be your new grooming and or pet supply/food store, as I think you will be more than happy that you did.

My wife and I bring our Golden Retriever Miley in for grooming all the time. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. They provide excellent prompt service and are very reasonably priced. They offer many great services and have excellent groomers that pay close attention to detail and we always have excellent results with Miley's grooming!

Today I visited paws applause for the first and last time. When I walked in with my dog, the lady behind the counter looked at my dog, then up at me with a nasty glare. I was so taken aback I almost turned back around and left or asked if I shouldn’t have my dog with me. Then I realized - it was because I had a pitbull. My dog never stops wagging her tail and is incredibly well trained - I even brought in a training pouch with treats that I was using to keep her right by my side. She never acknowledged my dog the entire time we were there and we were the only ones in the store. I approached the counter and asked if I could have advice on the food they had since I had never been there, the lady laughed at me and made a very passive aggressive comment about that being too broad of a broad question. She was so rude I was in shock, I again almost walked out and I barely knew how to respond. I tried to brush it off, I know everybody has bad days. When I told her I had my dogs on a half raw and half kibble diet, she proceeded to tell me this was not okay and again made many rude, condescending comments. Not only have I done significant research on feeding a raw diet, but I also am finishing an animal science degree, I have worked in a veterinary clinic, and I plan on attending veterinary school in the future. There is no literature that supports her claim that raw and kibble should not be fed together. When you eat bread and steak do they digest differently? Yes. Does it cause issues? No. I again was in shock from how blatantly horrible this woman was being, for a second I thought maybe she only did grooming and not food because she seemed like it was the end of the world when I asked for advice. I ended up immediately walking out, she was the rudest employee I have hands down ever come across and absolutely should not be running a pet store with not only her lack of knowledge but her breed bias as well.

I Love taking our Lab, Bauer, to Traci for a bath and it’s an awesome place to find new and healthy treats and food. All those who work there are great people to deal with. I highly recommend visiting the Paws Applause team Especially of you are used to going to a big box place for grooming. Completely different level of service.

The amazing staff there shaved my Iggy Cat's belly to get rid of mats. Because they were so gently with him, he laid back very casual like he was a king. I have also had these great people groom my cantankerous older dog and they are kind and gentle with him, even tho he is grumpy. Thank you for taking good care of my pets.

Have a Huge selection of cat food, treats and toys. Plan on spending some time in there to look around. And there is a ginger cat who will love up on you and give you soft bites.

I am a member of a raw food buying coop that is run by the amazing folks at Paws Applause. They are very knowledgable about feeding, and carry a broad range of excellent dog and cat food – everything from high quality canned food, to grain free kibbles, and raw food. They also have a great selection of toys, supplements, leashes and collars…anything you might want or need for your dog or cat, they seem to have it! And it is all the best. My Standard Poodle, Max, thrives on his raw food diet, and loves to go to Paws Applause on pickup day!!

Had dog groomed and groomer cut nail which bled the next day. Also trimmed too close to rear and private parts which were sore and raw. Would not use them again.
