Beautiful overlook of the fall foliage, very aromatic from the wild flowers, informative placards along the ridge, and if you look hard enough a staircase of rocks that take you down to the tree line. Worth the drive!

Beautiful area , we will need to return in the warmer weather. Yesterday was cold and cloudy, but still a beautiful view .

One of the best views around with the least amount of work required. Very well maintained parking area and information signs.Bonus, saw a moose cross the road 3 minutes away.

Can't beat the view, especially after a long motorcycle ride to get here. Some stretches of road are very rough, less experienced riders should use extreme caution.

One of the most beautiful vistas in Maine! Great views, plenty of parking and a couple of host that were knowledgeable and knew the area!

This is a must see! The views from up here are amazing. You can see for 20 miles and easily more and everything you see is all Maine. You can see a few lakes and the Appalachians. This is easily one of the most beautiful places in Maine. We came here the end of August and the temp was 57 up there with very strong winds and a real bite to the air giving maybe 50 degree wind chill. Wind chills in Maine are extreme during the seasons. You easily needed a jacket here in late August. A little over 2 hours away at home the temp was 70. I saw a large rock with a large rectangular cutout and some bolts that were cut. It appears someone has stolen the beautiful bronze “ Height of Land “ plaque from the rock at the overlook. If anyone has any information about this theft please notify police.

Great place to stop and take in the views if your in the area. I have always seen atleast one moose in my travels to The Height of the land. Limited to NO CELL service, I have Verizon and surprised it's very patching or non existent in this region, well worth the pictures alone.

Some of the most spectacular scenery in the state. A good bit of the roadway has been replaced recently vastly improving the drive up.

These pictures do NOT do the Height of Land justice and I apologize for my failure to show you all the magnificent beauty I witnessed today! Just moved here from Florida and after seeing this I ain't going back!!!

Gorgeous views in a wide arc around this pull-off on the side of the road. And the Appalachian Trail runs right through it. Absolutely worth stopping for a couple pictures.

The height of land at the top of the Appalachian trail is where my heart sees the love of my life, Mooselookmeguntic, and far beyond. Brings me peace and solace while putting my small life in perspective. I Never pass the stop off without smiling in wonderment. Thank you, God, for this beautiful gift & Hats off the Maine road & parks crew/works for safer improvements.
