This isn’t just regular old shaved ice… It’s a scoop of homemade ice cream molded into a big ball of fresh, fine, shaved ice. It is then mixed with fresh fruit juices and topped with a splash of cream. The flavors are stunning, refreshing and fresh. The texture is cool and light. The presentation is masterful. I cannot recommend this place enough, it’s something different, done incredibly.

found a new favorite spot to visit! the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, ready to answer any questions and to explain flavors and the process of making their delicious treats! people of all ages were smiling and enjoying every bite.I got a specialty flavor called Uncle Salty, which had chocolate syrup, caramel drizzle and crushed pretzels all over, and I obviously added some whipped cream. 🤤 if you love sweet and salty, you have to get something like this!Their homemade vanilla ice cream at the bottom of the mountain of shaved ice was the best end to an amazing dessert. I only wish that I had room in my stomach for many more, or that I could get one to go without it melting! Definitely give this place a try if you were around the Portland area 🍧

An absolute must stop in Portland. The staff were so friendly and explained the steps to order for us. The ambiance inside would put a smile on anyone's face, and the shaved ice itself was AMAZING. The syrups had such a good, pure fruit flavour and the ice cream was delicious and creamy. They had a ton of flavours to choose from, and some ready made creations for you to go with if you can't decide. Parking was ample as well!

This place is great. My first experience having shaved ice was met with very helpful, encouraging, passionate people. Right when we walked in, they made sure to greet us and help figure out what we were interested in and what we wanted to order. The ingredients were fresh, and you could tell a lot of care went into their passion. They have a ton of flavor combinations to make your own or a few example ones for those unsure. Overall, it was delicious and a great experience! Will be back again!

First time at Zephyr Ice and definitely not our last. The Cookies and Cream with Macadamia Nuts was fabulous!! Generous portions and reasonably priced. My husband and I shared this bad boy and it was perfect and MMM good. Highly recommend;)Excellent customer service!!

Zephyr has earned a spot on our list of Portland must-hits every time we visit town. Amazing shave ice over ice cream (get the macadamia nut, it's decadent!)! Delicious homemade "syrups" are so juicy and light that I hesitate to call them syrups. The whole package of this shave ice & friendly spot is so good. Really the best I've had in the Northeast! The owners really care about putting out a superior product and it shows. Can't wait to return.

Went in for dessert and had a wonderful experience! The shaved ice was delicious and light and refreshing. We got the guava, mango and passion fruit and they were a perfect combination, especially with the dried coconut on top. The ice cream on bottom was a great creamy pairing. The owners are very kind and friendly and they told us they make everything in house. It was all delicious and we will certainly be coming back!

This was literally the best experience. Amazing people and the ice cream was the best thing I've tasted in so long. If you go, try the plum powder. It's a surprising twist and my fiance and I LOVED it, also, opt-in for the condensed milk in your shave ice & ice cream. The homemade macadamia nut ice cream with the shave ice on top, the coconut, pineapple, and banana syrup, with condensed milk, toasted coconut and the plum powder on top. 🤤 To DIE for. We will definitely be back. (It looks prettier when you first get it. I was just so excited to eat it and busy chatting with the heavenly owners that I forgot to take a picture first 😂)

When I say that Zephyr’s shaved ice is my all time favorite thing to eat in Maine, I am not exaggerating. The syrups are divine (homemade and all natural). The ice cream is just amazing on its own (don’t skip the macadamia nut). Don and Julie are some of the coolest, nicest people around. I tell all of my coworkers and friends about this place. I even bought the tee shirt! Don’t miss this place. It is the absolute best.

One of my favorite spots for dessert in Portland! If you've never been, I don't even want to ruin the surprise of what they do but just know, it's SO DELICIOUS. The folks that run the place are so kind and passionate about what they do! You can tell they just want to make people happy.Great spot for a little date or a stop after dinner. If you're good at sharing, then a large is good for two people but honestly, just get your own.

This place serves REAL shaved ice. They serve Hawaiian quality shaved ice in Portland and it's amazing! I love the Concord grape and peanut butter with crushed chips. Wonderful couple that owns this is always helpful, grateful for business and welcoming. It’s my go to dessert in Portland and I crave it when I’m out of town.Parking: It’s a side st with street parking, and lots near by.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while and am so glad I finally had the chance! It's not a hard snow cone exactly, but fluffy light shaved ice with creamy ice cream underneath. The syrups you can pick and choose from are all homemade - I can personally say the strawberry and banana were delicious. I also got the snow cap (sweetened condensed milk) and toasted coconut on top. My husband got the chocolatey special one with pretzels and caramel, which he devoured. The staff were also friendly and inviting, answering all my questions. I only wish I got to visit Portland more often!

went here bc it was close, best choice i made on a whim. it might be pricier compared to store bought ice creams, but you really pay for the quality AND quantity. even if you get a small, it’s SO much (in a good way). if you’re visiting in the city, you have to stop here. the employees are so kind and you get your order within minutes. their homemade ice cream is delicious by the way :)

I can’t believe I’ve lived in Portland for so long and haven’t visited Zephyr Ice before. The whole experience was awesome, great customer service. So kind you can tell the owners really care and want to be there. The shaved ice itself was so good, the syrups must have been made in house. Incredibly fresh. And the ice cream underneath (which also tasted homemade?! omg so good) was the best treat. Will be back ASAP.

I have only one small complaint about this place. We just got back from 10 wonderful days on Kauai. The only disappointment over there was that Zephyr ice basically ruined Hawaiian shave ice for us, because none of the heralded shops on the island came even close. Not just me saying that - a family of six, in total agreement.Seriously - this is the best dessert to be had in the region, and maybe the best representative of shave ice on the planet.Also: the couple that runs Zephyr Ice are the nicest people in the history of people.
