Andy looked it over with me to ensure it was just cosmetic and offered me a reasonable discount. Very fair, very friendly. Excited to have this option in Portland. Thanks Andy.

OMG! What a find! I found so much that I will want for my kayak in the future. I will be shopping here for so many of my needs. The staff was friendly and helpful. Any question s I had seemed important to the staff. I am very impressed. So, yeah. Recommend.

The store is very organized & the staff are very friendly. James and Paul were very helpful in assisting me in locating a part online for my vintage boat restoration. It was worth the one hour drive for excellent customer service. I will definitely be returning!

Have used many times in past both online and in stores, good prices, great product and inventory, and fast shipping. Last online order had a problem with shipping (USPS) delaying time-sensitive order. Called customer service, talked with a live person right away, very helpful, was able to take care of issue for me so I got product on time. Excellent customer service, friendly, helpful people to speak with, which unfortunately is rare these days. Recommended.

Part of me loves West Marine, but the prices are high and you'd have to imagine that they will go out of business soon. Too much internet competition and other retailers with better selection at better prices.

I was in this store twice to get some information and a few supplies to wire lights to a small fishing boat. Although the staff was friendly, they were not able to offer much help. I did understand that the task might require some additional support. I decided to call back and ask to have someone somewhat knowledgable return my call. After two attempts and no call backs, I gave up. To another store....

I went in for a certain rope which they did not carry. The older gentleman that worked there told me about another store that he knew had it. He also gave me some really good tips ok splicing rope. His conversation was enough to make this a successful trip.

The store staff were very helpful. The rep I worked with not only explained to me why I don't need the most expensive parts I thought I did, but was able to help me with a boat repair issue unrelated to West Marine. Very happy with my experience!

Update: They refunded the cost of the item and accepted the return. Added 2 stars. No hassle on the return and they apologized.Buyers beware!! Twice...twice I have purchased items "new" only to come home, open the box, and find that parts were either missing or added not of original product. Unbelievable. West Marine either neglects to check returns and puts them back on the shelf or willingly deceives consumers by replacing missing parts. I will not purchase fro m here again. Two times is enough.

I purchased a small ring latch for a glove boxWhen I purchased it I did believe it was on the high side but I figured I was there so why not. I would not be back in Portland for awhile. When I returned home I went online to see how bad of a purchase I made. Online I could get ones of superior quality (stainless vs chrome dipped white metal. Online price $9.95 + shipping. West Marine $34.99 in store. I have made my last purchase at West Marine. Buyer be Ware, I wasn't.

They literally have NOTHING in stock. It looks like the water and toilet paper shelves before a hurricane. You might be able to buy a shoe. But just the left foot. The right foot is out of stock.

Always call ahead to West to check stock as this store is often out of stuff. Bring gloves or hand sanitizer as their obselete point of sale requires lots of touching if you pay with a card. Or just go to Hamilton Marine where they have it in stock.

I am below the novice level when it comes to boats. But the people here treated me like gold. They took the time to walk me through propeller selection based on my needs and helped me understand my fuel system. I am a customer for life!

The service representative who looks like Grizzly Adams is - in the words of Robin Williams in "Good Morning Vietnam" - in dire need of a BJ. He was the biggest a-hole in the whole place. Fortunately, the younger reps there have a smile and a great attitude. This guy was a jerk to everyone who walked in the store, which is likely the reason this place averages two stars.

As an avid fisherman and Catalina sloop owner I have found myself in here many times. As the holidays are here I went in to pick up some goodies for my wife for the sailboat. I check out go to car put mystuff in the car and attempt to walk to trader joes next year and a west marine employee tells me I can't stay parked here while I go next door and threatens to boot my car (he is sitting there in the parking lot with a boot just waiting) I am after all taking up one spot in their 3/4 empty parking lot. I ended up telling him I was doing business at west marine. Which I promptly did by returning my gifts and then left so I wasn't taking up any place in their precious lot. Needless to say I Will not be shopping there again.

Sold our boat and forgotten left the anchor with it. Not our intention! To no fault of their own West Marine has had difficulty getting deliveries. The first time we went in they did not have an anchor but they called us when one arrived and held it for us. Now we can float! Yay. Just in time for intense heat.
