Cute and welcoming pet boutique! Both locally made items and brand name. We got the cutest winter hat (on sale!) for our pup. The workers were very nice and gave her some good treats and pets. Totally recommend this store!

THE most ADORABLE mom and pop pet store in the area! I wish I took pictures of the store itself because there were so many cute and fun things to look at. We ended up buying three bandanas for our puppy. The wife makes all the collars and beds and the interaction between the couple was so genuine and sweet. I highly recommend stopping by this pet store!

Just received the dog collars I ordered online. Perfect, as usual! The best designs, and wonderful customer service I miss not living in Portland anymore, but was so happy to see can be found on their website. Uncommon Paws cares about their product, and their customers.

Amazing! Finally found a harness for my puppy he doesn’t hate and got to purchase directly from the woman who makes them. She was such a delight to meet in the store and the staff were super helpful and loving of my boy. Thank you!!

Just have to say the workers here are the nicest people! Every one of them greeted us and were happy to share any info about the items/where they came from. Everyone was literally so friendly! Great selection of items, and lots of cute kitschy dog things like bandanas and HATS! I always put my dog in hats and they aren’t very common in pet stores but they had quite a few here and that made me so happy! I can’t wait to get back home to NC and see my boy in his new shark hat!

We first learned of Uncommon Paws years ago, while visiting a pet boutique in Boothbay Harbor. We purchased our nautically-named rescue komondor a collar and have cherished it ever since. Fast forward - we adopted another "nauti" kom and went for collar #2. Gudrun helped us personally with our online inquiry/purchase, and even included a personal note with the package. Top notch service!! Gained [what I can only presume] another lifetime customer!!

Has so many eco pet toys! They stock a ton of toys from Pet Play SF, a brand that’s known for its toys stuffed with recycled poly. A ton of amazing supplies, from grooming, treats, pup-safe ice cream & cake mixes to handmade collars & bandanas. I grabbed a couple packs of catnip-infused toys for my friends’ cats.

The most darling store. I came in to poke around and ended up getting a winter sweater and a collar for my dog. The sweater ended up being too snug, so the shop owner shipped us a larger one across the country. The owners are such wonderful people (and some of the items were handmade by them!). We were traveling from out of state when we walked by and decided to try this shop out. We loved all the options and the quality of the products. We bought a toy and shirt for our doggie! I love the homemade toy and think it will last longer than manufactured ones. It’s soft enough to chew on but durable enough to withstand a lot of chewing. Highly recommend!

Our favorite store in the old port!!! We try to visit a few times a month to restock on treats, toys, and supplies. Their collars are handmade and the best quality, even after 2 years they still look brand new. The owners are great people and truly love meeting all the pets that come into their store, always giving pets and treats to our dog when we visit.

This place is such a gem! I was visiting Portland and stumbled upon it; so many cute pet clothes, toys, and handmade collars/leashes. I got a couple things, including some PJs which ended up being the wrong size when I got back home and dressed my dog with them. Gudrun, the shop owner, was super receptive and exchanged the PJs via mail in just days. Would highly recommend.

What a gem! Was walking around downtown and happened upon this dog boutique appropriately named ‘Uncommon Paws’! And to my delight, it was filled with fun and uncommon items for my doggo! Great selection with everything you could think of and more! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful! Check it out, you won’t be disappointed!

Lots of unique and cute items for your pet. The owner’s wife makes adorable bow ties and collars for dogs. All sizes are available and there were many prints to choose from. I love that I was able to get my very large dog a bow tie.

Great place for dogs but not much for cats. I Google searched “Best cat store in Portland ME” I was misled. They did have some pretty cool stuff but mostly toys, collars and chews. Not much food or cat supplies and definitely no pets for sale fyi. Would have given 5 stars if I was looking for a good dog toy store

I visited this shop back in July when visiting Maine on vaction. The staff was all so friendly and informative! They have some great products but what really caught my heart was their lobster toys for pets, I bought one "cat" lobster filled with catnip and one "dog" lobster toy that squeaks because my cats like both types of toys and it was the perfect lobster to bring back home for my girls! The cats and I absolutely love these sweet souvenirs! I'd reccomended this place to any other visitors and if I live closer I'd absolutely shop there more.

We always make a stop here when we are in Portland. Lando always loves the all natural treats here. We bought a collar for him here 3 years ago and he still wears it in perfect condition. Great quality!

First of all, this store has the most unique clothes, amazing treats, and fun toys for your furry friends!!! On top of the store being extremely clean and well organized, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful! I truly had the best experience with both of the owners this evening. I had a unique situation, where I bought a hat and jacket for my dog. Unfortunately, the hat didn’t fit, and my receipt was nowhere to be found. The owners of the store took several minutes out of their busy workday to rummage through their receipts from the past week, to try and find the matching receipt. Long story short, they were so generous of their time and were incredibly patient with me. This kind act goes a long way with me!! It’s a place I will continue to support because these owners will always greet you at the door with a smile on their face and kindness all around!!

We visited from Tampa, Fl - and Dexter, my dog, noticed a stuffed dog outside and immediately wanted to go inside. This is a wonderful store with hand made items as well as local artist prints. Love this store! Such a friendly staff, and the wonderful owners are also usually in the store, for questions, or just a fun conversation about pets! A wonderful, unique, family run, little shop for amazing dog products for pooches and people. The owner was super funny and had my mom and I laughing. His wife makes a lot of items in the shop including the collars and dog beds. Their products are made to fit dogs of any size. I picked up a shirt for one of our dogs, who is 95 pounds of cuddly love, with Maine's original flag on it. If you are looking for unique, high quality gifts for dogs or dog owners this is a must shop.

Quite a few months back my boyfriend and I got a collar and a bandana from here for our two pups. I was originally a bit wary of the price but kept telling myself that it was homemade and the high quality was worth it. About 6 months later, I'm really happy with my decision. The bandana is adorable for my puppy and has held up well, and so has the collar! My dog's last collar lasted the first 2 years of her life and I am confident that this one will last even longer. My love for the adorable design has not faded, and I think back on my memory of the adorable little Portland shop with only utmost fondness. Great place.

Thank you so much for your help! My puppy baby is super clean now! I used the brushes and shampoo recommended. It worked perfectly. All the staining on her neck was scrubbed clean off and it didn't irritate her skin either. My baby Freeda loved the dog treat too, typically she doesn't like the pretty treats but she eat it up and then went back for the second half later the same day on her own.

This is an enchanting dog and cat accessories shop! I loved the selection of toys, pup clothes, treats and more! Everything was well crafted and very unique. The owners were extremely helpful and also shipped me merchandise that was lost and then returned to the store by a Good Samaritan!You should check out this fun shop!

Stopped in to just look around and was greeted immediately by the owner. They saw I was looking at the collars and were kind enough to tell us about how they were made. They have really cool unique designs. I was sold and bought one for my 100lbs German shepherd mix. Really cool shop. Even better it’s a local small business to support.
