Perhaps it is just the luck of the draw, but every time I go into the Home Depot on Riverside Street in Portland, I find helpful service... People that will go out of their way to help me find what I need. I choose where I shop by the service I get. In this day and age that is their most valuable commodity.

Had two kind, very professional, and good humored men deliver my appliances up in Berlin NH this morning. I was filled with anxiety due to the tight area my dryer was going into and the fact that the workers werent from my local shop, they just laughed and eased any of my concern in all areas. They got the appliances in place, hooked up, and running for me. They called me to let me know when they'd be here, was on time, and made it a breeze. These men drove up in a snow storm, made it on time, and made a huge impression. All in all? Incredible service, installation, and people.

Generally speaking a good branch of this chain, clean organised and if you search for something on the website you can get aisle number and location - which is usually correct but not always. Staff are always helpful and friendly.

Given incorrect information by the rentals department regarding a generator. At least say “I don’t know” if you don’t know about the products you are working with rather than pretending to have knowledge/expertise.

Went to Home Depot in Portland, and was extremely disappointed as a new contractor. I open a new account with credit card and was hoping to get the best price match guarantee. I’ve done the price match guarantee other Home Depot’s with Amazon and it’s been no problem. This one had me wait over an hour for a manager to finally arrive who barely spoke English and refused to give me a price match guarantee that Home Depot offers, because the price difference was too high. We were planning to spend over $1000 on tools at this location and now we have to drive an hour out of our way to go get the price match somewhere else. Good job Home Depot. Thank you for taking care of your contractors.

Wow, the customer service here is truly amazing. I sampled some paint and came back loving a color so I bought two gallons of it however, when I went home it was not the same color. I went back and John color matched the sampler. He said, “Let’s fix this.” So incredibly grateful. Thank you John!!

It's a Home Depot. Got some LED replacement bulbs for my old 4' florescent fixtures and a new circulation pump for the boiler. Summer is a great time to work on the heating system, just saying.

Don’t bother trying to see if anything is in stock. I gave them a call to ask about a product and all they said was “I don’t know - you’ll have to come in to check” What? I called the correct department. This particular product I’ve been trying to find for a few days and before saying why don’t I check online? Well I did that initially with another location and their stock was not accurate to the online database.Don’t get why they couldn’t even be bothered to feign checking for me. I’m not driving 40 minutes to this location “to check” myself. That seems crazy.

Same selection as always. Service has gone down hill. Any associate I spoke with seemed like I was bothering them. And when I *could* get answers to my questions, they were short and no one attempted to problem solve with me. I worked here for 5 years, and I STILL found it better to leave and go to Lowe's. Super sad because they used to be the best.But if you know EXACTLY what you want and where it is... and you DON'T want to be bothered at all by people... it's perfect for you!

Very disappointed in customer service we received from the assistant store manager. We purchased a total of 7 gallons of porch stain, after purchasing four samples and sampling them on a piece of our deck. The color we chose and sampled we used on one of our 3 decks. After application it did not look anything like the sample of the color or the color swatch. Leading us to believe there was some type of issue mixing the color. We contacted hope depot in hopes we could exchange the stain, as we had a 5 gallon bucket full that we did not open. We are aware of the policy but spoke to someone in the paint section and she advised us that it is possible to get an exchange where the colors were not even remotely similar. The assistant manager barely took the time to listen to us and refused a refund or exchange. We’re a local business and tend to use Home Depot in a pinch if we can’t go to our supplier. We have a Home Depot credit card and spend more money than the average consumer. We will no longer use Home Depot for our business or personal use because of poor customer service.

After buying an over the range microwave, and paying extra for removal & dispose of old one, and install, we Never got the promised call the day before install, but 630am day of they call telling us they're 15 minutes away! when arriving they ask, "where do you want it" , expecting to drop it and leave, when I showed them on the invoice we paid for install etc, they tried but were unable to remove the old one, taking screws out never replacing them. After leaving I called the hot line (suggested on invoice if problems) a lady rescheduled us for a week later, and refunded some of the install $. I said we needed to talk to the install people before they returned so the same thing wouldn't happen again. I called and was promised 3 days in a row, never got a call, Next getting the salesperson on the phone, she said "she got reemed out already about this and this isn't good for Home Depot! And told me not to call the Hot line any more! We returned the microwave, they had a problem refunding us, said it was something with the computer system, and would call when it was confirmed, still haven't received a call. Also, on national website it says returns/refunds could be made at any HD with receipt. So Portland HD refused after saying they would on the phone. (we were headed in that area so after confirming by phone first, another disappointment)

Jake from Customer Service was so helpful and patient while helping me today. Not only was he incredibly sweet at customer service but when I needed help loading and no one answered his call he came and helped me load it all by himself.

Asked for help from someone who seemed to be a middle aged woman. Nothing. She seemed to busy doing... Nothing. Asked these 2 young boys near the contractor checkout where something was and they tried there best to point me in the right direction and I ended up finding it with there help. Sad that the older people have no interest in working

I’ve debating leaving a review for this Home Depot because my store experiences have been so varied. On several occasions the staff have been incredibly helpful and friendly, but I’ve noted over the past year that it’s mostly been the staff in the paint, outdoor, and decor sections. When buying lumber, tools, and construction materials I’ve consistently and condescendingly been asked if I *really* know what I’m doing and if I have a husband or brother there to help me. Yesterday two men working in the Lumber section asked if I was “acting as the gofer for my lazy husband.” I was hoping to use Home Depot’s kitchen and bath remodel services for a new home renovation, but after several sexist and humiliating experiences I do not feel comfortable continuing to shop at this location. I would recommend the store manager consider retraining the staff on how to respectfully approach women.

Prefer layout of other stores better. Takes too long to find stuff there. I frequent Windham and Scarborough and like them better. A few Associates are great but some are not so. Takes a long time to get checked out there.

Although it may not be aesthetically as inviting as say , ...- some local competitors are on the inside of their store...eh-hmmm(*locals know whom I refer concerning ; )It is much better equipped meeting just about every need you may encounter as far as hardware stores ,or home/real estate improvement & / or repair is relative. They also have Quality plants, shrubs, & flowers seasonallyYes, I did stray upon the arrival of a big-box's arrival, & grand opening a few years back...but, inevitably I returned toThe Home depot rather quickly , as I'm sure many others have ...there is a lot to be said for integrity, consistency, & value...over flashy, trickery, & employees who have no -clue what "painters tape" isAnyways..(.??!!)

Despite false advertising, home depot is amazing. I did not see any actual homes. I did not look in the back left corner of the store so maybe they are there. Even without any actual homes in their store, they have everything you need to build a home so hard to be mad at them for not having homes when they give you opportunity to build one. Good stuff.I got a small cat door for my cats and it works really well. Their online store said it was in stock and BOOM. When I got there, it was. Now my cats are happy.

Wanted help from the associate but they were to busy on their personal phone. The manager was disconnected from the issue we had and wasn't even the least bit helpful. All we needed was to cut 1 sheet rock into 2x4 sheets they said it was too much liability for them to cut sheetrock and then I brought in some iron pipe and they cut that for me while I was standing next to the guy and a piece of iron filing in my eye. Needless to say they'll be paying for the eye doctor. Probably should have banked on the sheetrock instead of iron pipe

They need to start hiring people that know about the tools, and know about handyman projects. Also, let people cut their own damn chain. Grown men do not need to be physically prevented from cutting their own chain by young women because of "safety."

The only thing more excellent than the wide variety of reasonably priced construction products was the knowledgeable and super customer-friendly warehouse staff!! Always a great experience, highly recommended for home-owners and Contractors alike!!
