I like to shop local and I support several other local businesses that buy local produce and meats but I have a hard time at the co-op with their pricing. This is a white-collar co-op and I make blue collar pay and the prices make me feel like I am unwelcome there. I wouldn't mind but for a community co op this doesn't feel very community oriented especially if you read into their mission statement and such. I've been to other co-ops which have more reasonable prices so people who make average salaries can shop there. I do hope in the future they adjust their prices to allow folks who don't have big business jobs to shop there.

Very nice shopping experience. Clean store with a nice variety of different products to choose from. If you like organic, you'll like this place!

Great little grocery with a lot of variety. I'm a chef in the area and the coop is one of my go to spots to get ingredients for rounding out last minute ideas, or when we run out of something. I like their pre-made burritos and different sodas too for a quick pre shift meal to go.

Small market, but it has most things we needed. I appreciated the degree to which the store makes an efforrt to support local farmers. The prices are higher than in most other stores, but the quality is worth the extra cost. I'd definitely return if we lived in the area.

Nice store with good local organic produce as well as many vegetarian options. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. The bulk items are great.

Never come to this establishment if you want good customer service. The folks who work here are never friendly (especially check out) I like to support local establishment as much as I can, but when you never have a good experience and you feel out of place every time. Sorry I don’t want to support people who cant be bothered with your presents.

Conveniently located, but they need to either improve the quality of their prepared food, or lower the price. I paid $9 for an egg and potato burrito that tasted like it cost $4. This is a regular occurrence.

This place is amazing! The best curated grocery store I’ve ever been to with incredibly high-quality products.

Great variety of yummy and local food. High priced, as expected, but sometimes it's nice to splurge. However, the folks who work the register are quite rude and very unfriendly. And I have found this to be the case almost every time I have been there. They act as though you are an inconvenience - no hello, no thank you, sometimes no response at all even when asked a question! For a place that touts itself as being a big part of the community it might benefit them to be kind to the community who shops there. It's hard to justify paying for high end groceries when you are treated like that.

Since day one this establishment has really worked at fitting in with the neighborhood instead of trying to make the neighborhood fit them. Love the local aspect just can't afford to shop there as often as I'd like

Small footprint but many good options. Lots of fresh produce and bread, multiple choices for many diets.

The employees who work at the registers are not friendly. Whenever I go I’m like “Maybe I just went on a bad day” but every time they are just humorless, unfriendly, and unhelpful. Also not sure if they aren’t meant to bag your groceries but they never do and recently I went, no one in line, the store is empty, the employee is sitting at the register, I’m running my credit card, my groceries are sitting and sitting, until I bag them. For what they charge, you would think they could offer that service.

We love shopping at the Co-op. It has an excellent selection fo pretty much everything we need: farm produce, local bread, local beer, local meats & dairy, flowers, prepared food.. and prices are really reasonable. Our first and often only stop for groceries.

Local produce, dairy, grocery products, and more! A great start to supporting local product and helping the community. A wide selection and all the basics. Plenty of options for dietary restrictions in the deli

I just visited this store for the first time last night and I was thoroughly impressed by their selection on food and ingredients. They have your every day organic products, but what really makes this store special and unique is the selection of ingredients they have to make your own teas. They have raw herbs, plants, and roots you can buy by weight to be used to make your own tea. They also have a decent selection of different types of fresh coffee grounds

I really wanted to like this place but it was a disappointment. There are some good local and organic products but the prices are much higher than expected (and I wasn’t expecting low prices.. I’ve shopped at co-ops for many years). The staff didn’t seem to be paying attention. They didn’t notice us needing to pay at the register.Could be worse but also could be a lot better.Edit: I’ve been in here a few times since my initial review and the customer service has been much better. Love the variety of mushrooms too :)

They were really amazing at practicing and maintaining good distancing and store practices. And were very understanding and helpful when it was obvious I was anxious. This was my first trip to a store in six months. My first time inside a building that was not my home. And I felt as safe as I feel is possible for me

Love this place! Just what a co-op should be: a great selection of local/small artisan bests, friendly staff, and fresh local produce. Highly recommend it. Just be careful: you might find yourself maxing out your credit card with all the goodies.

I’m not a member but I love shopping here. Staff is super friendly, excellent quality produce + bulk sections, extensive coffee + beer selection, and lots of hard-to-find foods for those with special (vegan/gf/organic) diets. I love that they try to source things locally and ethically. This is probably the most covid-cautious place I’ve visited during the pandemic (requires you to use hand sanitizer upon entry), but I’m thankful the employees are working + am happy to follow protocols if it helps them feel safer. Great store!

They are clean and only let very few people in at a time so there might be a little wait but it goes by quick. This store is kinda small but it has a lot of produce and dairy also so many other natural products. You can also buy your lunch they have soups and sandwiches ready to go. Friendly helpful service you can save even more by becoming a member.

There are many items available for bulk purchase, a solid selection of local produce (hope to see that expand some time in the future), and other great natural, organic, local products. I love the "help yourself" system for the bulk items that show that people can be trusted to be an honest shopper. Great way to foster a sense of community in my opinion.

A great place to sample Maine-made products and fresh local produce for generally reasonable prices. Very spacious and has everything you need with new items being offered all the time. Great variety, friendly and helpful staff, and a far better experience than shopping under the florescent lights of massively large and overwhelming grocery chains. Next best place to shop after the farmer's market.

Very clean store, and nice friendly staff, it offers a variety of local products, but it seems very overpriced. Similar products can be found at Trader Joe’s for a much better price, it’s an interesting place to visit but I won’t be returning.

Friendly, helpful staff. Lots of bulk food and moderate selection of organic, local produce. Small deli section. Unfortunately they offer fresh and frozen meat. Large percentage of local items

It is so great to finally have a place in Portland that I can feel great about buying all my groceries because the Co-op is locally and cooperatively owned. I also love the wide selection of local foods. I am so glad I can buy Balfour Farm local and organic yogurt in a returnable glass container and locally grown organic fresh spinach year round. Thank you to all the hard working staff who make the Co-op a great place.

This place is great and a nice find in Portland -- love their yogurts and honey options (try the lavender honey). Their kombucha on tap is also great. As some of the reviews say, in general the produce here is more expensive but worth it for their local stuff and is not far off from Wholefood's prices anyway.

On first blush, all seemed fairly standard. Then I started seeing bulk dispensers of all sorts of things: laundry detergent, dish soap, Maple syrup, local honey... And the list goes on! The people all went out of their way to be friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be back!
