My experience was incredible. Sarah is so creative, knowledgeable, and fun. The atmosphere is delightful -- so authentic. I learned so much about the right tea to help me manage my Gerd and much more. She mixed my batch right in front of me (like Hibachi...only better) cutting the lemongrass fresh into the batch; it's so beautiful! This is small business at its absolute finest. Could not recommend this shop more. You rock Sarah!

The sore throat tea is a life saver. After one cup I felt relief! Can’t wait to try more blends!

I stopped in to get a gift for my sister, and the person working was lovely! I purchased some delicious-sounding blends, and they even packaged up the tea in a cute bag with tissue paper. I’m looking forward to my next visit and drinking a cup (or a few) there!!

Sarah is the best small business owner in Maine. Her knowledge of alternative health practices demonstrated through healthy teas and Ayurveda medicine is a true gift. I love her shop; and her lovely personality.

This tea shop is magical and I love coming here when I am in Portland. If you can stay for a cup I recommend sitting in the window. Sarah is very knowledgeable and can give you a recommendation or blend something special for you depending on what you need. I have ordered online as well and it was very easy and quick. This place is so unique!

One of the sweetest, most genuine spots in Portland. Run by an absolutely charming lady. Huge selections, extremely knowledgeable. Menu of tonics and teas printed on linen. Handmade goods from local artists, very cozy atmosphere and some bar and table seating. I often miss them due to their hours but knowing it’s run with such limited staff it’s worth working around for the quality. 🖤 truly a gem.

Sarah was so nice to speak with while she was hand making our teas! We tried the purple haze and the summertime. Both crisp and light! Perfect for a walk over to Peaks Island. Adding this to our revisit place when we come back to Maine! ❤️

Absolutely the best teas around. Made a special trip here after having their tea at a breakfast spot in Portland - try the wake up mate or the muddy mate. Try anything. So good.

Have been a an of tea and tea establishments for many years. Most of my purchases are made online. Was looking for someplace in the local Portland Maine area. Found the web site for Homegrown and desired to check it out. Getting around and parking in Portland can be a test of patience but I found the shop in a few small store on lower Congress street, even found a parking spot. Many of the specialty stores are Modern and glitzy. Homegrown is the kind of store your grandmother would frequent. The interior isn't designed by a plan-a-gram, it more like an old time shop showcasing personal taste and knowledge. The owner, who’s name is Sarah, pleasantly greats each customer and is a wealth of information about the teas that she blends right in front of you. No pre*packed, who knows how long it’s been on the shelve product. I choose a Lapsang and my wife had a Earl Gray. The teas were lovely as was our conversation.Sarah uses her vast knowledge of herbs and fruits to make very tasty tea offerings. The shop also carries a nice collection of other tea items along with spices and honeys.Although it maybe a slight journey to find Homegrown teas it is well worth the investment. The reward in both time and enjoyment make this a place to return to.

This place is an absolute gem. As soon as you walk in you're greeted by the incredible scents of fresh licorice and herbs, immediately easing your anxiety and the stress of the outside world. The owner Sarah is so great and unbelievably knowledgeable. You can't visit this shop without learning something new and leaving with a handful of incredibly aromatic teas. She has such a huge selection of herbs and blends her own tea right in front of you - made to order! She's so upbeat, helpful and accommodating. I urge everyone who finds themselves in the lower Munjoy Hill neighborhood to stop by and check it out - say hi to Sarah! Sadly, there just aren't places like this anymore; when we find hidden gems like this in our city, we need to support them any way we can! Spread the word!

I visited Homegrown Herb and Tea for the first time this Saturday and had a lovely experience! I purchased both the Wake Up blend and the Teacher’s Pet blend. I would definitely recommend both. I can’t wait to try more!

Sarah is wonderful and so are her teas and tisanes. The selection of components and apocathery quality locally crafted products are carefully curated and very reasonably priced. Since she's an independent sole proprietor (and frankly a role model as a self made business woman) I have no idea why the one negative reviewer mentioned multiple persons...perhaps he was lost and in a different shop? I encourage you to listen to the rest of us very satisfied customers and enjoy: whether you find yourself stocking up on self care supplies, or just need a moment to pause and realign, this is a great opportunity to do. Ayuravedic, yet approachable. And, there's a guitar and seating for guest use!

This place is the epitome of a hidden gem. It’s about as far away from a Starbucks as you can get. Huge range of herbal tea blends that Sarah will hand blend to order. I’ve since ordered a bunch of blends online since I don’t live locally and each one is fabulous. Also, plastic free packaging!

Magical, yes magical! Sarah's shared knowledge, the positive energy space and the customized tea brew = stellar. My tummy was much happier leaving than when arriving.

Worth the effort. The store hours can be a bit hard to keep track of, but the tea is amazing and very much worth planning a trip just to pick it up. The new ability to place online orders helps with that as well.

The place is awful, but good teas..., the folks that run the place are annoying. Yes, drinking tea should be a relaxed experience but not here. I prefer a place that has an atmosphere.... but not here. I also did not find it very clean.
