My family stayed here for the first time in August 2023. I have to say it reminded me of the quiet peaceful resorts of Adirondack resorts of my youth. They no longer exist but I am glad that places like Poland Springs Resort exists. I am so excited to be booked already for 2024. I like the charm, the history and its location. Hopefully, I’ll be back got many more years and continue this new tradition with my children and grandchildren.Nearby activities: Shaker Village; good local restaurantsSafety: No issue with safetyWalkability: Wonderful walkable pathsFood & drinks: We liked the grill at the Golf course

We checked in and found our room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The grounds are very clean and manicured. Some of the structure needs paint and has been left unattended. The hotel is very dated, no modernization has been made other than WiFi since what appears the late 70's. The rooms have thin wooden doors and old deadbolts. The scoring of the deadbolts shows the decades of keys that have been used to open the door. Once in the room, we found a clean room with again dated furnishings. I sat on the sofa and discussed with my wife the room as well as the possibility of getting a decent nights rest. We looked at the bed, a king size mattress neatly made with linens from what looked out of my grand mothers home. We noticed the curves in the mattress and decided they had not been replaced since the deadbolts were installed. At that point we decided we quietly checked out and when asked why politely told the desk attendant the room wasn't up to our standards.Rooms: Below industry standards.

We booked the room because we wanted space enough for our son and it said it offered a bath and could accommodate 3 adults. When we got there we had to rebook our stay and so did the people who were in-front of us. Then we got to the room which was a small room which was clearly cheaply put together. It was not the double room that the listing offered. There was no bath either instead we got a tiny standing shower. Which our son is not old enough for showers yet. There was also no second bed which the listing said there would be. So we know we were not given the right room. When we tried to talk to the receptionist we were told we get what we pay for and that was it. Overall would not recommend.

Overall... It depends. If you find the old style charming and have golf lovers in your group - maybe this place is for you. If you're anyone else, this place probably isn't for you.We stayed in the Maine Inn. Check-in was easy and the people at the desk were friendly. The hotel and rooms definitely have an old style and feel to them. The hallways and doors to the rooms remind me of an older college dorm type setup. It's not a modern hotel vibe. I can see how some people might find it creepy at night. It's a quite location, at least at the Maine Inn. Once we were off the road, it felt like it was pretty secluded. The grounds are nice and well kept. There was a wedding going on while we were there and it looked like a nice outdoor setup. If you're a golfer, you'd definitely appreciate this place. If you stay in the Maine Inn, the course is right outside. The room itself wasn't special, but it wasn't terrible. Bed was okay. View was decent. Bathroom is quite dated and small.Breakfast was available, but not included. We skipped it since it wasn't included. There's a library in the Maine Inn. It's kind of cool if you love books and the library feel. There's not really anything recent in there, so don't look for recent releases. There are some classics and older books though (early 1930s).We tried Cyndi's Dockside, down the road, for dinner. It was pretty good!

This hotel was stuck somewhere between 1950 and 1970. The rooms were terribly old and dirty. Walls paper thin. Hallway looked like some sketchy apartment.Food: breakfast was a terrible, over priced buffet set in a ballroom, function room that was straight out of dirty dancing. One morning I asked for sugar for my coffee and was told there was none. Breakfast only served for 90mim.No ice machine. Was told you can buy ice. I snuck my water bottle into the breakfast area but after that area is closed for the day, you’re out of luck.Towels were ridiculously small. Like hair towel sized. Went to the front desk to get more and was told they had no more that day. So basically, we were out of luck. We weren’t even originally given enough for our room.I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Not worth the price. For almost $200/night it's very outdated and NO maid service on a daily basis, which wouldn't have been bad if they at least took out the garbage can next to my room which stunk up the whole hallway for 3 days. When asked the front desk if it would be possible to service the garbage I was told "I'm the only one here". That's the second time they answered an issue I had with giving me their staff schedule. Who they have on the schedule has nothing to do with me. For $200/night take out the communal trash!

This was my 3rd time staying here Beautiful views, golfing outside and inside concert in the main function and Dining room There is a bar/pub on site in the Maine Bldg. Had a great time here however, The beds in the double room that I had were really uncomfortable and the shower faucets were leaking. It was also hard getting into my room because the lock would not work correctly and I had to struggle with it I realize this is an older building but it doesn't mean that they should not be fixing things. The first two times I stayed here I had a nice king room with a refrigerator in it and had no problems so I was quite surprised at what I had to put up with this time. Will go back thoRooms: Rooms were ok with ample air conditioner and a small fridge but they definitely need to upgrade the beds in the double roomsFood & drinks: There is a huge dining room and they serve breakfast which was a buffet for a reasonable price, which we indulged in and the food was great but disappointed that there were no pancakes or French toast included on the buffet There is also Mel's restaurant overlooking the Golf Club The food here was excellent and reasonable prices.Noteworthy details: They have other Lodging here which one of my friends had to go to as the Maine Inn was sold out and was located about 1/4 mile down the road from the Inn

My first thought, upon arriving, was "what in the Dirty Dancing meets the Shining is this place". it is literally something out of the 1960s, and not in a good way. The main building is so incredibly dated. There’s a layer of grime over every surface. The rooms smell like mildew and sadness. The food was atrocious the breakfast oatmeal was gelatinous, the scrambled eggs were watery, and the hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict was broken, the fish cakes at our dinner event were so salty they were inedible. Somehow, the baby carrots managed to be both burned and raw at the same time. The worst part, though was the accessibility issue I had with my service dog. I travel with a seizure alert dog. They were aware of this when I made the booking, he was clearly in full gear and they still asked all sorts of invasive questions about my health at check-in to “prove“ that he was a service dog. this is highly illegal according to the ADA. then, at breakfast, they tried to tell me that I could only sit in one corner, furthest away from the Buffay because of the dog. This is also illegal and it goes against the ADA. People with disabilities are not to be segregated from the rest of the clientele simply because of their disability. I literally had to pull up the ADA website stating that they weren’t allowed to do that before they would let me sit with the rest of my party, and the older woman who was giving me such a hard time then told me that someone else needed to get my food, that I couldn't walk through the dining room with the service dog. I pointed out on the Ada website that this was also illegal, and she rolled her eyes and left me alone, but spent the rest of the time my party was in the breakfast room complaining loudly to the other employee that 'people who aren't blind don't need dogs' and that my service dog was 'probably fake'. my service dog is impeccably well behaved. He has had thousands of dollars and years of training. I have never felt so ostracized in my life. And it made every single meal that I had to eat in that room incredibly uncomfortableThe grounds are beautiful. It’s in a fantastic location. But the buildings are uncapped, the decor is filthy and dated. The staff is surly. honestly this place belongs on Gordon Ramsay‘s hotel Hell.

Okay, so here is why you should ABSOLUTELY stay at the Poland Springs Resort: it's no more expensive than a Super 8 or a Day's Inn, but you will get a story out it. The whole place is like a cross between a 1950s Ivy League dorm with years of too thick interior paint and the hotel from The Shining. It is peopled with a bizarre combination of aging local business owners with cigars and golf clubs, bikers, and middle aged former frat bros who may have once eaten a paper cup at UMASS for a dollar. And yet it is comfortable, clean, and utterly charming in a haunted-every-room-is-named-for-a-dead-president-kinda-way. Don't stay at Super 8; stay here- it is WAY more interesting.

So I am a Marriott 1000+ nights traveller but just couldn't justify paying $200+/night this week while on the road so I looked around and found this resort and booked it with a bit of skepticism but price was sensible and it looked like it would be clean. Probably my favorite travel night this year! What a great and relaxing place to spend the evening. Sat out on the front porch in a deck chair and enjoyed the view while I got a bit of work done with no wifi issues anywhere on the grounds. Went to bed that evening and looked around the old fashioned but well appointed room and it just reminded me of being a kid sleeping at my Grandma's house. Took a fantastic walk the next morning on the trails and visited the original spring. Really nice break from what my normal work travel week looks like. I would definitely come back again next time I am in the area! Great place and the sign as you drive in that says "Stress Free Zone" is spot on!!

I’ll start with we were booked in room 192 in the lodge, which was the size of a storage closet with a king size bed, a desk and two chairs crammed all together. little space to walk around or even get dressed in. The bed had a big dip on one side so sleeping was very uncomfortable. Luckily I brought my own pillow from home so I was able to use the hotel pillow to fill the dip and sleep on top of it. Forever noted when a place says non refundable to walk away and book somewhere else. The hotel had a back up in the bathrooms and you heard the toilets bubbling in the middle of the night. My husband turned the water off by the toilet and the staff was very efficient on getting it fixed as fast as they could, however the cleaning crew never came to clean up the backed up water that was left staining the toilet and tub leaving myself to clean it before giving my daughter a bath for the night. Literally cleaned off feces from another person in our tub or who knows maybe it was ours too. Also let’s not forget the amount of light that shines thru from the door cracks because of how the room is positioned. If you’re a side sleeper like me forget it. Had to use clothes to hang on the door and locks to help block out light from the hall way. The outside lights shined right thru the curtains as well probably didn’t help that they were ripped off the rod. I could go on as well but it did it’s job of keeping us warm for the nights we were there.

I have attended events at Poland Springs resort several times in the past few years. In 1964 I worked here for the summer. The recent visits have been to attend Newfoundland Day celebrations consisting of an original old fashion boiled dinner, and much dancing and singing along to wonderful Newfoundland traditional music, a Newfoundland home goods and memorabilia raffle, and an Honorary Newfoundlander Kiss-the-Cod ceremony. I can tell you, fun was had by all. And I did attend the most recent Newfoundland Day on June 17th last week. I am sorry to say, but a recently posted review of PSR and this event was seriously flawed and unfair. The Resort is in the category of a Grand Old Lady from early 1900’s, but with plenty up-to-date modern improvements. The entire Resort is clean and comfortable, and there are no lingering odors of the 1900’s. The Staff is polite, attentive, and exceptionally accommodating. At this years Newfoundland Day just about everyone was frequently up on the floor dancing and singing. The food, was the typical old fashion Newfoundland boiled dinner (corned beef, boiled potatoes, fish cakes, carrots, etc…not my favorite, but the salad was excellent…if you come for Newfoundland Day you get what you expect…the traditional Nufi Boiled Dinner). As I said, everyone enjoyed the dancing, including a person with a support dog (with no vest) on a leash. BYW, there is a long ramp at the entrance for wheelchairs, a large and comfortable lounge with a snack bar, and a price-is-right well stocked bar.

We stumbled upon this place via Google maps when we were looking for last minute accommodations for one night. We were able to book same day, and we loved it so much we decided to extend our stay for a second night! The property is beautiful, tons of activities for all ages, the rooms are clean & comfortable, the staff was very friendly & helpful, and best of all the price was right. We stayed at the Presidential Inn and the Maine Inn. Both were wonderful! No problems with WiFi, and we had pretty good cell service anyway. We enjoyed our stay here, and we would definitely come back if we’re traveling through this area again! Don’t let the low prices deter you; we were a bit skeptical of what we’d get for the low price compared to other nearby accommodations. This place is amazing!

Booked a room last min for a same-day booking. They allowed me to check-in early, The major sell was having my dog Zeke with me and finding an affordable place on short notice. Luckily, I was happily surprised that the hotel and amenities were far beyond my expectations. I stayed for one night. I enjoyed the trails and Museum on the Hotel grounds. All in all, everything I had hoped to receive from my stay I did and more, I would 100% go back and stay again.

Overall not a horrible stay but certainly not what we expected.Paid for two rooms that were supposed to be the same size, and they definitely were not. Both my husband and I kept tripping over the edge of the bed because it blocked the corner between the room door and the rest of the room. One of the two windows was jammed open and it was in the low 30s the first night. One of the lamps (and it's power outlet) did not work and the only other we could find was behind the bed which is practically nailed to the wall and hard to use as such. When booking we were not told that we'd have to basically be our own housekeeping (we had to bring linens out to bins and bring trash out as well... who pays to stay in a resort to be their own housekeeping?)Thankfully a lot of people observe the quiet hours, which is appreciated. We also were not informed that the building we were in had no elevator (and we had to go up four flights, one of our party of four has a minor mobility issue). We were excited to hear that there was an on site breakfast buffet and reviews had been promising. I wish it had lived up to that. For a place that says coffee 24 hours, there was no hot coffee at all. Literally a sign that they'd run out. Cranberry juice was so watered down it was unpalatable. None of the tables were wiped down or clean. The staff was incredibly friendly though and knowledgeable about the area and the grounds. While dated, some of the buildings had a charming old world vibe to them. The grounds were incredibly well maintained and cared for. Check in and out was very easy as well.

I did not want to leave this resort. Awesome people, super huge rooms, quiet and the views are beyond words. From the moment I arrived and joked with the other guests sitting on the large front deck enjoying the afternoon, all the way through check-in, a quick swim in the pool to wash off the travel day, walking around the historic grounds, relaxing that evening in the room, and then check-out the next morning, I felt welcome, safe and totally relaxed. Due to a late cancellation, the women at check-in upgraded my reservation to a fantastically huge and comfortable room right there in the Maine Lodge. I really felt they appreciated my business and I truly appreciated all of them. Had the chicken Caesar salad they had for purchase and it was one of the best I've ever had anywhere and the price was just right.

Super friendly staff, grounds were lovely and pool was amazing! We rented a cabin for 2 nights and it was very spacious. The air conditioning was a welcome relief in the 90° heat. The restaurant seemed welcoming, but came with an exceptionally long wait (and cold food) due to waitstaff catering to "regulars". The game room was literally a room with board games, not as expected. Pub is closed on Wednesdays (without prior notice). The sunsets were unbeatable, very gorgeous 😍 Cottages do not have stoves, so be prepared to eat out or grill meals. NO WI-FI. Would stay again, but be better prepared 🙂

Attended a lovely wedding at All Souls Chapel with reception at the Poland Spring Water Museum. Perfect venue, great food, wonderful time!Food & drinks: Plentiful crudités to tide us over until the wedding party arrived. Drinks poured were definitely value for money! Hot buffet was excellent.Noteworthy details: A museum upstairs provided a nice diversion for the youngsters.

My theatre company holds a retreat in Maine every year. This past year our usual spot was not available. Poland Spring Resort came to our rescue. It was the perfect place to be: beautiful grounds, really kind people and lots of room to meet and play. We loved the nature, the pool, and the walking trails. A Perfect distance away from the Range Pond State Park as well!Special shout out to Suzanne Joncas who was terrific! I highly recommend taking a tour of the museums! They are full of head-spinning facts. I can't believe so many famous people have stayed there! The "word" from everyone of the 21 people we brought up with us was: "THIS PLACE ROCKS!" I am so grateful to the owner, management, and staff of PSR who were so accommodating and friendly. This is truly a wonderful place to share with people you love.
