I'm just days away from adopting nugget! The ladies at the Orphanage are very nice and will answer all your questions. We had to do a meet and greet with our dogs, and they were great with that and really flexible with scheduling.

Amazing staff! They care about these animals so much. We donated some supplies there after our dog passed and 3 months later we were back picking up the new member of our family. If you're considering getting a new pet this should be your first stop. There are so many amazing pets in the system that need a home and it's much better than giving your money to breeders who don't care about the animals.

The Old Town animal orphanage really cares about the animals. We adopted two cats and the vetting process and paperwork really made us think about the seriousness of our decision. All the animals we saw looked well cared for & happy.

The rep.wasnt helpful. I went there 08/10/23 to look at the cats. As I walked by the cat condo a cat got it's claw caught on my shirt and I was trying to get the cats claw un- hooked and it scratched me. I told the young lady about it and she didn't say or do anything about the cat. She just handed me hand sanitizer to clean it and bandaid. I'm not happy with the young lady. 😞

My significant other and I went to your "business" in hopes of adopting a cat. We were extremely excited and had our eyes set on one and were ready to fill out forms and such. The man asked us if we were ready, we responded with "yes" and then he proceeded to ask us if we were 21 and told him we were 20. We weren't aware that the age to buy a cat was 21 at this location as it was stated no where on the website nor on the building so we were obviously turned away. He said that the age changed because previous buyers failed to take care of a cat they bought which eventually died. Mind you Bangor humane society age requirement is 18 and I have had no problems with them. I respected the information that I got but left in sadness and anger. I feel like the age should remain at 18 because being 21 + isn't going to change the outcome of how a cat is treated. Anyone over the age of 21 can go in there and buy a cat, take it home and do damage. Either way I respected the decision because I am a good customer. After that interaction, a friend of mine who is 21+ tried to adopt from there and the customer service was disgusting. She called to check up on the status of her application and the response given to her wasn't okay. This business also says they are almost at max capacity but turns away customers who are more than happy to adopt and properly care for these animals. I am hoping Old town animal orphanage will change their age policy back to 18 as well as provide animal safety background checks so people like myself who care for and love animals can adopt. Like I said before anyone over the age of 21 can buy a cat and treat it poorly so them changing the age policy isn't making much of a difference. Other than that, my money will be put elsewhere until these changes happen. I am glad to say that my adoption process at BHS went smoothy today and I got to welcome home my new kitten who is definitely cared for and loved very much. I hope existing and future customers see this and realize that Old town animal orphanage isn't the place to do business. Thank you for your time.

I tried to get a little help with cat food today and was told maybe I should get rid of my animals if I can't feed them. I am just running a little short this week and needed a little help. I've gone there two times in my entire life and won't go again. It's pathetic to be treated like that and so disrespected.

I went there to make a donation.I met some Great people, friendly and knowledgeable. Also was greated by a double pawed kitten named Wally and his brother. Wally was the friendliest, cutest, most playful and curious kitten I have had the pleasure of meeting in a long time. Made my heart ❤ cry wanting 2 take him home 🏡 with me. But he and his brother had a forever home already spoken for.. I wish them both a long and happy life, with lots of love and affection in their new forever Home.

I would recommend the Animal Orphanage to anybody looking for a good pet. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. We were able to pick the best cat that fit our home. Overall a clean and friendly place. If I ever adopt any additional pets, Animal Orphanage will be the first place I go to!

We came to adopt an animal on 10/20/2021 at 12:50pm. The sign says reopens at 1:00 so we decided to take our dog (that we adopted from you) for a walk on the trail out back. When we returned the tattooed "manager" confronted my wife and I and told us he would have our vehicle towed next time. I was completely blindsided as the last time we used that trail that same "manager" was super polite and offered us dog biscuits. What's probably most offensive is he called the cops on me when I came back to say I still wanted to adopt an animal regardless of his extremely poor manors. Mr Tatoo just laughed in my face, sad.. I'm sure he painted a super embellished story about how he felt threatened. Just let it be known he made that situation and I'm not going to roll over like the dogs he's used to when someone speaks to me or my wife the way he did. I guess we will tell our baby girl the unfortunate news and look elsewhere.

Looked at cats Saturday. Went too late to get one Saturday. Filled out contract and went today to pick up a cat today. I finally decided to take a chance on another cat because we had just lost one of ours.I didn’t see the contract said I had to prove I owned my home so I couldn’t get a cat. So I couldn’t get one. So sad! I guess old town orphanage doesn’t believe people. Oh well! Guess they get to keep the cats caged up longer.

Was explained I had until the close of following bussisness day with a $10 dollar deposit to fill out forms. Hold was removed early and they choose to let someone else adopt. Sorry to say I will not even consider donating to a facility that operates unprofessionally!!
