I love this place. My husband and I stayed there in June of 22 and August of 23. Our room was very clean and the staff was very friendly. We have also stayed on the beach both of those years at the Norseman , but we prefer Aspinquid because it has a pool, private balconies and is closer to all the restaurants. We plan on making reservations again soon for this summer.Rooms: The rooms were updated for our last stay with nice new bathrooms with walk in showers. We also like the little kitchenette area which was handy for snacks and breakfast items.Walkability: As we are older, the walk to town and restaurants took only a few minuteswhich was great as we did not need to drive and try finding a parking space.Noteworthy details: Beautiful grounds with lots of flowers and an area with a fountain to sit by.

Went for a long holiday weekend in October. Close to beach, but we didn’t go.Parking is very tight in some places not good for larger vehicles. Updates are needed to this Resort, it is dated. The doors easily slam and it echoes. We had a king room. My side of the bed was literally 5’ from the toilet, way too close. Bathroom light didn’t always come on and there was yucky stuff around the sink. Water pressure good, nice shampoo and conditioner products.Website pics were definitely shot using a wide lens. The room has everything for a short stay, including an alarm clock where you can charge your phone.Walking distance to everything from this location.

Warning ... mold! On my trip August 2022 I decided to stay in a place with a pool (usually just have a cottage on the water.) The location is awesome ... just a short walk to the beach. The pictures look awesome ... the reality does not look like that. Very tired and not kept up. Carpeting looks like it's from the 70s. My king room with kitchenette would have been great, but ... showering, I noticed the bottom of the liner was filled with black circles (mold.) I scooped it up and put it in a plastic bag. I then noticed some black spots on the ceiling. Maintenance came up and sprayed the spots; I got a new liner. But something didn't smell right in the room. Sure enough, a few days later I opened the cabinets under the sink ... the back wall was black with mold. They sent up their cleaning ladies to clean. I told them they should wear masks but they didn't. The hotel should have called in ServPro or some other organization rather than putting their employees' health at risk. At this point I had to check out ... they didn't charge me for future days but would give me no refund.Meanwhile, I tried out the pool. It's in the middle of the parking lot. The planters around it are rusty. The stairs were broken with brown repair material on it. Once in the water I found it smelled faintly like urine. I looked around and realized a public bathroom was not visible ... not sure if one was hidden somewhere but how many people do you think are walking all the way back to their rooms?People would walk by and ask residents about the place and pretty much everyone said, "um," "tired," "worn," "old," or something similar.Cannot say enough about the cleaning staff and maintenance staff ... they really try. I'll never return.

Location is just about perfect. It's a 5 to 10 minute walk to the beach! Few more minutes to the restaurants and shops on Shore Road!Comfortable, clean rooms.Oh, and there's a nice heated pool, too!Parking is a bit tight but we never really needed the car either. We'll be back.

The Aspiquid is a beautiful facility. The grounds were impeccably manicured. We were in a penthouse and it was very comfortable. The toilet ran and we were able to fix it temporarily. The only other issue I had was the lamp near the bed would not switch on and off we had to unscrew the bulb. We chose not to have housekeeping since covid is resurfacing. I would go back in a heartbeat. our Deck was amazing.

The room was very cramped. The entry door wasn’t a secure door. The shower had poor ventilation and subsequently, mold present. The beds were comfortable and the linens were fine. The best part was the location. The property feels like an old 60s beach hotel, but the furnishings are more cheap garage sale finds than replicas of 60s beach house furnishings. Serious updates are needed. The fridge, coffee maker and microwave plug into extension cords. Dangerous. 3 small drawers, no closet, a TV cabinet for clothing is inadequate. Perhaps some built-ins would make the room more efficient.

Update to Jamal:Since I’m not able to reply to Jamal’s comments, and no contact information was left I will add an update here. #1 I was understanding about the parking being difficult, but I should be able to keep my car there up until check out. #2 I didn’t bring up the issues upon check out because I was yelled at about parking and didn’t want to get into a verbal argument with your staff. It just didn’t seem worth it after me trying to make my room available early so someone else could begin their stay (and maybe give your team more time to clean the room.) Also, try running the shower in room 140 and you will see the issue within a minute. Odd you would try to imply I made this up. What would be the point of that? I am not asking for anything just trying to make people aware of what they are walking into.Original Review: I chose this place because of the location and had never stayed here before. The location was the only thing that did not disappoint.I arrived several hours early on check in day and assumed I would not be able to check in until 4. Luckily they had a room ready within an hour and was so excited that my stay started on such a positive note. The front desk wasn’t overly welcoming but they were pleasant enough. Didn’t really mention anything about the place other than a general direction to my room in “That building over there“.Everything changed when I walked into my room. Everything had this weird odor, which I am assuming is mold? The room was made up but upon looking deeper, I realized it was not thoroughly cleaned. A few examples were dirty utensils laying all mismatched in the kitchenette, an ice bucket full of old water, several long hairs in the bed linens, etc. I assume if you are paying 400+ per night, things should at least be clean. Also, the toilet did not flush well and the bathtub backed up to my mid calf during my shower (SO GROSS!).The worst part was my service upon checking out. I left my room around 8:30 AM and figured I would grab a coffee downtown. I thought it would be courteous (since they had the room ready early for me), to go check out before going downtown - though I technically still had over an hour. I asked the woman at the main desk if my car would be ok. Her exact response was “Don’t you see we are busy and full? I don’t think so. How long will you be 20 minutes?” I told her I wasn’t sure but probably little over that. She just shook her head. I said I could just wait until 10 to check out and she said “Well, you already did so”.Honestly, go stay at the other dozens of places within a 5 minute walk and have a place that doesn’t smell, is clean, and doesn’t reprimand you for parking in a place you paid for.Rooms: Old, dirty, and smelly.Noteworthy details: Rude main desk. Dirty room.

I feel like i was seriously misled by all the good reviews of this hotel. What you pay for with this hotel is the location (3 to 5 minute walk to the beach). Other than that, this wasn't a good place to stay. Everything in the room is outdated (they will claim it is nostalgic but it's not - it's just old and smells a bit). The "effeciency kitchen" had no microwave so we could not conveniently heat up leftovers we had from local restaurants (we could have used the stove, but really, who re-heats pizza on an old stove?). The room had almost no outlets. We all shared one outlet located next to the bed close to the floor to take turns charging our phones. The alarm clock, coffee maker, toaster and one lamp were unplugged and even if we wanted to use them, we had nowhere to plug them in. In the welcome email, they said that room service would not be available during our stay, but when we checked in, they said we could request it. So when we needed clean towels, we stopped by the front desk to just request that they take the dirty towels, which we had placed in a pile for them, and replace them with some clean ones. They handed me a trash bag and clean towels and basically told me to do it myself (why not? It's not like I was on vacation or anything!) The best part (and by best, I mean worst) was the tiny toilet. The toilet was so short, the top of it was below our knees. We were literally squatting to go to the bathroom. Oh yeah, and the front desk is not staffed at night so if you need anything past, I believe it was 8 pm, you're on your own. And all this for the bargain price of over $400 per night?! Do yourself a favor and stay at a less expensive hotel (The Beechmere was fantastic) and just pay for parking at the beach if you dont want to walk the extra 10 minutes. You'll still save about $100 per night.

Jamal greeted us each day with a smile starting from when we checked in. Jamal was helpful, friendly and always willing to take the time answer our questions. The view from our room was beautiful. Being so close to the beach and town is priceless. We already booked our stay for the same time next year. We are already spreading the word and telling our friends and family about the wonderful time we had and how great our stay was.

The hotel was ok, the room was a bit outdated and was just a little rough around the edges. The walk to the beach wasn't too bad. No one here or at the Norseman could direct us for family things to do like where would we find good tide pools. The kayak and bike rentals are a nice touch though. The town itself is just a bit much for us. Very busy in low season and the main intersection desperately needs a traffic light.

The Aspinquid is owned by the same people that own the Norseman. They are both in a great location and staffed by friendly high quality people. So they do a good job hiring exceptional people to work there. The big drawback is, even though they charge top dollar, they really haven't improved the rooms all that much since the 80s. The lights the kitchenette everything needs a giant makeover in both of their locations. It seems like they're just content to do a good job treating the guest right, keeping the place clean and then just leave the rooms the way they have been for decades. The place is clean and well kept but the room need total makeovers. I know they're currently doing the siding over at the Norseman and have done the siding on the Aspinquid in some parts as well but to get the rooms to today's standards, the insides need a gut job.

Our group of 22 had 6 rooms. Our initial reservation was lost, thankfully we called to confirm and discovered. We ended up spread out in all 3 buildings after the mix up. The rooms were very plain and understated. One room had a clogged toilet and another had a live mouse on the bed when they got to the room in the middle of the day.Tip: Get a top floor room, you hear every step above you.The pros: there are grills by the pool for guest use at no added cost and the pool is warm and lovely. We will not stay here again.

Pros: awesome location! You can walk to the beach, shops, restaurants, and bars!Easy drive to Kennebunkport to sail!Beds are comfortable! Front desk was very nice! Our view of the river from our balcony is half building view and half Riverview, not the best but it was still beautiful!Cons: rooms are very outdated. We stayed on the lower level and throughout the night we could hear the Buffalo herd in the room above us. So loud! Didn’t sleep much.Other than that, the town is great, the location is awesome but the rooms are Soso

Location, location, location! 1 block from the beach. Room was old & very run down. The vertical blinds were missing 2 slats & the light on the deck was on all night. 😕 Bathroom fan sounded like it would take off - very old & loud. Staff was nice & kids seemed to love the pool. Next time I'll forgo the beach views on lieu of a better hotel.

Update for new stay.Place definitely needs a makeover. Barely any storage space for clothes in a unit that sleeps six. Room has not been updated in the interim between our 2018 and 2021 visits. Feel like they are resting on their laurels cause they have the easy beach access as well as downtown that they can avoid putting money into the rooms. Pricey for the location given the dated rooms.Bigger rooms than the Norseman proper with scenic views of the ocean. A two minute walk to the beach or downtown. Pool is also nice amenity colocated with rooms.

We have stayed here every year for the past 4 years and we usually love it. I am so saddened by our stay this year there is no possible way we will be back. The man and woman at the desk during check in were so rude. They have implemented a $30 per night second car charge that we have never paid prior to this stay and we were not prepared for ahead of time. When we asked about it they rudely dismissed us and told us “it was in the email” okay fine we did not see it, but something like that should be verbally communicated. We had a party of 6 so we ran out of towels and could not get in touch with anyone until 830 the next morning. Apparently daily housekeeping has been suspended, also understandable post covid but we were not informed at check in. I again was rudely dismissed and said “it’s posted and we told everyone at checkin”, and hung up on after saying thank you. The room was not clean even at check in. Hair in the bathroom, dusty bed frame and tabletops, subpar job overall. Don’t see the point of paying top dollar to stay at the beach if we have to change beds, clean bathrooms, empty trash and get our own linen. We will be looking for a new annual spot to stay as this location was absolutely atrocious to our family this year. The customer service is non existent and it was not worth mentioning to the staff directly as they are rude and dismissive even for regular questions.

The two stars are only for location which is close to the beach and excellent for little ones. Otherwise, there were large ants in our room as well as a giant spider. Can hear all the noises above. The beds were uncomfortable and the AC unit is individual and turns on every 5 mins which is very loud. The mini fridge rattled. My husband hated it and would never stay again. No WiFi - says there is but we couldn’t send texts/emails or get phone calls because there was limited signal there.

Stayed here the last 5 years with minimal issues. Couldn't check in til 4:30 which was unfortunate as check out is 10am... Can hear every movement above us, WiFi included doesn't work.. most uncomfortable bed, three outlets don't work?? Out dated stale atmosphere is nothing new here. Needs some TLC. At least the room was clean and the staff was nice. You over pay for the location. Won't be back next year

Great location. We were able get everywhere on our bikes for the three days we were in Ogunquit, including very easy access to the beach. Staff was nice.Rooms were a bit tired, dated, and stale, but certainly clean.

I will say the room was very clean, and it's really close to the beach which is nice. However, there were some things that could be improved for a higher quality stay. The mattresses first off were awful. The bed felt like it was going to collapse just by me sitting on the edge of it, and the mattress was so thin that I could feel each spring poking me. My other complaint lies with the type of window treatment used in the rooms. The curtains are the long vertical slat types, and since the rooms (at least in the building I was in) all have lights outside of each door, the result was light shining into the room at 1 am giving the appearance that it was morning.

The "garden level" is a fancy way of saying "your view is the parking lot."Other cons: for having been the very end of the season it was very expensive, front desk was rude, sound proofing was abysmal, and all the other little problems that we have all come to expect from motels and hotels right by route 1 in Southern Maine.Pros: it's a place to sleep, as long as your neighbors are quiet.

We've walked by on our way to the beach many times and I've always thought that this looked like such a quaint motel in an amazing location. So, we decided to book a room last minute while we were in town and were very happy to get a room with a balcony view of the beach. Oddly enough, you can only see the beach while you are STANDING on the balcony...who designed these balcony railings, Andrea Bocelli? Call me crazy, but most people want to sit on their balcony in the morning to enjoy a cup of coffee while savoring the view (without a railing/blindfold). Don't get me started on the 1980's coffee machine that was simply piled up on top of a stack of pots & pans in the cabinet. This motel must be one of the last stand-outs using actual keys instead of cards. It was nearly impossible to unlock the door to our room...the knob looked like it was intended for a bathroom door (not very secure). The sliding door was probably installed while Wham still had music videos on MTV! Unfortunately, Bruce Banner would have quickly turned into the Hulk trying to get the damn slider open or closed. Ugh, the bathroom...yucky! Felt like I entered a time warp when I walked into the bathroom for the first time - peeling paint on the ceilings, everything outdated and dingy. What could I possibly complain about next? The pool was clean but very small...I understand space is limited, but I've never seen an in-ground pool with such a narrow width patio space surrounding it. If someone is sitting in a chair on the side of the pool, you literally need to step over their legs/feet and be careful not to fall into the pool. The tennis court was a little scary looking...looked more like a tennis pit. It would probably be a good place for Rick Grimes to round up a bunch of zombies! Well, I guess that's enough complaining for one review. But trust me, I really wanted to like this place. I gave it 2 stars because of the location and friendly staff.

Very disappointing stay while celebrating our Anniversary. Parking is terrible. Guests do not have assigned parking spot near their units. You are lucky if you can find a spot near your room. We arrived about 3pm checkin time and there was no parking spots. They had us park across the street in their employee parking and lugged our bags across the street. Our room was the farthest unit across from the pool so our river view that we paid for was very disappointing. Rooms are NOT updated at all. very old dark wood. Not inviting at all. rooms where very plain. hallways smell and are outdated. We couldn't plug our phone charges beside the bed. No outlets to do so. Bathroom and tub were not that clean rust and black around sink. Buildings are not locked at night so anyone can enter the buildings during the night. I definitely was expecting more for the $350plus tax a night for a King room that we paid for. If you stay here you are paying for the location only nothing else. We love Ogunquit and visit often, but will NEVER return to the Aspiquid Resort again! Very disappointing stay!

My wife and I just got back from the Aspinquid. Had a sweet view of the ocean from our private balcony. Room was cozy and beds were nice. Steps away from the beach and the town. Friendly people at the front desk! This was our first time here and most definitely not the last. Thank you.

Overall very nice. Close to the beach, comfortable rooms. I only wish there were more outlets to charge our phones with and that the loft had an outlet at all, there wasn't one for the lamp that they had up there.
