Well, in. the deep freeze, having some oysters and wine in a yurt! The Shuck Station turns out two yurts in the winter to keep the home fire burning (literally, wood stove heated) whilst the oyster-crazy like me continue to search out Damariscotta River oysters (kind of ground zero for Maine Oysters). They also have a modest menu of other items and are open THU-SUN only. Im told by end MAR the yurts come down (where do the yaks go?) for the summer season. Cheers to them for being creative. Many thanks to the staff who were all lovely and helpful.

How many places can you go that serve up oysters grown within a quarter mile of the restaurant?Like almost none!!This establishment has a sample platter with four each of three varieties of local bivalves. You can even create your own.The fried clams were excellent.Beer was local and cold.Servers are attentive without being in your face.It was busy when we were there so parking was tough. Either go early or later and enjoy the finest in oysters and seafood that Maine has to offer.Prices were in line with what other restaurants chargeParking: Prime time was tough as lots of folks wanted the best seafood in. Central MaineKid-friendliness: Kids very welcome. As are dogs on a leash.Wheelchair accessibility: You could get a wheelchair into dining area, but it would be tough cuz the ground is covered with oyster shells.

Service was great! Atmosphere was fun. Oysters were fantastic but horseradish sauce was overly salty. Also ordered the chowder which had plentiful fish but was laced with herbs and also very salty - not a fan. Seared scallops were nice and fresh but oversalted. Fried scallops were delicious once we pulled some of the breading off. Overall, seafood is good and fresh and the service was very friendly and efficient. But, for the price and the sodium level, we're not sure if we will be back.

Damriscotta produces the finest Oysters in the United States and the Shuck Station has many varieties on offer. The Norumbega and Heron Island were particularly to my liking on this day. Excellent oysters. However the service was actively hostile and uninformed. We asked for some Oyster recommendations and were met with indifference. I can excuse one person having a bad day but everyone seemed sour and out of sorts: The host who seated us. The oyster shucker who yelled at me when bad signage directed me into the raw bar area where you are not supposed to stand. The waitperson who delivered hot glasses that warmed the water. Good selection of beers. Great selection of oysters. Steer clear of the migonette. Worst my family has tasted. This place came recommended by a friend who appreciates a good seafood shack. We left so disappointed.

Enjoying a wonderful Sunday afternoon at the Shuck Station Raw Bar#32 North was jamming, keeping the jive going on this great afternoon.Enjoyed 2 different ciders that were light and crisp.Did not partake of food items so I can't speak to that.Staff was kind and extremely accommodating. Highly recommend this wonderful spot in Newcastle, ME.

I found our new favorite place in the area. Best Raw bar I've been to. Don't let the outside looking like an old gas station (which it was) deter you. They have a great setup inside and out and the food is very good. Love the raw clams/oysters selection and prices are fair. They also have a full menu. We will be back!

We started with Station fries covered with Parmesan, chives, truffle oil and garlic aioli…damn delicious! I also had three Norembaga and three Pemaquid oysters. The Pemaquid were delicious, the Norembaga were a tad salty, yet delicious. We both had the Poké bowl with tuna, very tasty and full of fresh and pickled vegetables, even some fruit!I enjoyed it all with a Pemaquid brown ale, okay two!Nicest station bathroom I have been in too!Would definitely stop here again, when in Newcastle. The atmosphere is nice, including the oyster shell wall😊

Just best to start with my experience. Came in with a friend from the mid west to try the 6 different oysters they advertise having online, having spent the day travelling and looking forward to trying all the local varieties, only having Heron Island was more than disappointing. My friend enjoys the heavy brine and I could do with less, but not having my oyster completely shucked was a surprise, took a shot of brine and had to bite the oyster off the shell, awkward and painful in a lot of ways. I had overheard the waitresses talking about the oyster thing and that the farm was feuding or having issues so they weren't able to have any new oysters like advertised. We also got the lobster rangoons and soup of the day (apple parsnip soup). The rangoons were not worth the price by far, the taste was okay but not worth the $16 price tag, the soup my friend had called it very hot applesauce with cubed parsnips, so if applesauce is a soup to you might be alright. Service was a little sparse, not rude but not really attentive considering the Yurt everyone is one. And speaking of, the yurt is the only something good there we experienced and was 100% not worth the trip there, the time spent, and the money spent.

Not your traditional lobster pound. In fact, far from it. It's actually a raw bar featuring some of the best oysters from the region. Meghan was our server... she couldn't have been nicer and knew about all nine oysters on the menu that night. She also helped pare it with a perfect bottle of white wine. The oysters were sublime. We also had the lobster roll and a po boy as well as the smoked fish platter. This is a place that took a concept and kicked it up a notch. All in all, a wonderful experience and one we hope to replay again.

My wife and I ordered the oyster sampler ( 4 oysters of three different varieties). All were excellent. I am from the Mid-Atlantic and grew up with Chesapeake Bay oysters. I have had many varities in the bay area, but none were as good as these. A little pricey at 28 a dozen, but good. The garlic mussels were outstanding - big and meaty in an excellent sauce. Covid handled well. One from the party places an order and pays. Orders are brought to the table. Facilities were very clean. I would give it a five stars, but the outdoor seating along US 1 business detracted some what.

This place was great. The food was very good, the wine was outstanding but the service was what really impressed us. A particular shout out to Hannah who was professional, friendly and patient. She accommodated all of our requests and answered all of our questions (there were a lot!) cheerfully and knowledgeably with a big smile.

My family and I stopped here for dinner on the way up to Acadia. They ran out of food that night but we were fortunate enough to try their fresh and sweet oysters. The owner was courteous and took time to explain to us how each oyster tastes like and where they were harvested. My two young daughters never had oysters before but surprisingly love it. We had to stop there again few days later while driving down from Acadia to have their oysters again. My entire family was content afterwards:) Thank you!

What a find! Oyster heaven. The Shucking team who also delivers you order were very knowledgeable about the 10+ oyster farms they serve. The Lobster rolls were huge and they had to be giving Red's Eats some serious competition. The place is very close to Route 1. Don't miss this place!

The only thing better than the food here are the people they employ. We snuck out for a Thursday night dinner and it was about the only place open. The staff was kind, helpful and ready to serve. An example of this was we moved from a table under the lights because we were getting attacked by bugs. When they saw us sitting in the dark, they asked if we wanted to move under the lights. When we mentioned the bugs, they brought us, and all of the other tables bug spray. Then they apologized that it was not out earlier. Two days later we had friends in town and we took them there. Staff recognized us and thanked us for trying again. The food is stellar. Have the smoked appetizer plate. You will not be disappointed

Save your money, taste of the river was disappointing. The Dodge Cove oysters were a joke....no oyster, just juice. The shucker gave us a 5th to make up for the size, which didn't help at all. Why serve if you already know they don't compare to the other varieties? Makes me question everything else on the menu. Had a guest in town and thought it would be a fun way to sample the best of the best, nope.

Food is awesome, The staff are nice people but a little sleepy. One person didn't get their order till everyone else had eaten- the missing dish was ceviche, which is prepared in advance. So clearly this was a problem with the wait staff. our waiter was not completely familiar with the menu and there were many changes made after the order was placed. I couldn't shake the feeling that the place smells a little bit like urine- It's outdoors and there are a lot of dogs who go there.

As a group of 4 adults and 5 kids (5 and under) , we were able to fit fine at one picnic table. The atmosphere was good and a major plus was they were open on Memorial Day. We stopped in after seeing the alewives and were seated immediately. We ordered a couple burgers, a haddock sandwich, a dozen oysters , and 2 fisherman's platters. The haddock sandwich was good, but a little too much batter, so that 1/4 of the sandwich was straight batter. The oysters were very good, I especially appreciated the house mignionette and the ginger based flavor for garnish. Our friend ordered a grilled cheese, and it didn't come out until the rest of us were eating. The waiter was very apologetic but it was a huge bummer considering it's the simplest thing on the menu. The fries though, my goodness, SO good. Perfectly crispy, the right amount of salt. Huge fan. We took some home and put them in the air fryer later and they were just so good. Overall, I'd go back and get way more oysters and use up all that dropper flavoring because it's amazing.

Nice variety of oysters. I also had the oyster bao buns and they were imaginative and delicious. A little overpriced. Don't miss the "fence of oysters" (that's a physical barrier, not a dish)

We came based on great reviews, however, we had a different experience. Wait staff surly. Not a smile among them. Waited 20minutes for our oysters (which were fine, not great), and then paid $32 for a fried seafood platter that contained four scallops, two small pieces of fried fish, and about a cup of fried clams. Most of the "platter" was potato chips. Would not recommend. Would not return.

Loved it here! Excellent food — beautiful raw oysters — friendly, helpful and knowledgeable service. My husband marveled at how crispy the fried oysters were. Highly recommend!

My husband and I ate here last night. Nice, relaxed, casual atmosphere. Outdoor dining, pet friendly, prompt service. We had the scallop ceviche and about 3 dozen oysters and everything was fantastic! Norumbega and Heron Island Oysters were our favorite! Good beers on tap, excellent looking cocktails, and nice wine selection. Price is pretty much what you would expect for good quality oysters, about $30/dozen. Well worth it! We I'll be back!

Walked in at 4 pm on a Friday. Not too busy. Host pleasant. And that's where service ended. No one came to our table for 15 minutes. Observed others getting their orders taken. Not us. I got up asked if we needed to place our drink and food order at bar? Told we will send waiter over. I asked for them to send him asap. Nope. So we got up and left. The waiters where too busy chatting among themselves. I've never witnessed such poor service. Maybe the should train a Waffle House and learn something.
