I have stayed in all the accommodations on this property except the Seagull starting from 1974 when Josephine was still there. Even the 'trailer' when it actually was a trailer lol. The food has always been good home cooking and plentiful. I have been teaching art workshops on the island since 2002 and many of my students have also enjoyed their stay at the Yew. Just listed the dates for my 2024 workshop and will be sharing the TY info with them. Still a few friends on the island from back then that we look froward to visiting with again.Noteworthy details: the views in every direction are amazing from the hill

Stayed for a weekend in the Seagull building. I wish I never did...The room that was provided for ~$150 a night was infested with cockroaches and I suspect the whole building if not the whole establishment is as well. I killed more than just a few during my brief time I could stand to stay in the room. Underneath the peeling wallpaper, the walls are covered with black mold. There were also some type of small bugs crawling near baseboards and in the dresser, and I found a few molted shells around the floor and on the sheets. Out of fear that these were bedbugs, I threw away everything that I had taken with me on my trip to avoid an infestation at home.I thoroughly regret my stay at the Trailing Yew - there are doubtlessly better places on the island (which by itself is beautiful). "Rustic" is one thing, but this is unacceptable for any lodging.

Wonderful afternoon spent on the island. Accommodations were great takes you away from the hustle and bustle on mainland. Rooms were quaint and simple. Breakfast to order, delicious, mainly all homemade and locally sourced the best pumpkin scones! with time to sit down and chat with everyone else in the building. Loved having the peaceful evening here would like to return.

A great and reasonable option on monhegan. We had 7 cousins in 5 rooms in their seagull cottage. No electricity in rooms. Oil lamps. But bathrooms had lighting. We loved it. A bit of a walk from ferry landing but you're there to walk anyway. And it is nice to get away from the "bustle " when ferries come and go. We will be going back. Some nights they don't serve dinner so ask ahead to be sure. But they will recommend one of the other places to eat and that worked fine. Great for families, couples, and single travelers.

A beautiful lodging on Monhegan. It is very rustic and we loved that. No electricity in our room, though it is available in some rooms. Kerosene lamps. Shared bathroom. We loved the 19th century feel. Especially nice are the meals... You share a table with other visitors. We met wonderful folks from all over. Highly recommended for a unique experience.

I used to come here every year, in June for the flowers and again in the last week of the season. October. Ask for the cottage. Great food, great camaraderie, forever memoirs. If you like fresh cooked mackerel, bring a fishing rod with small jigs and ask the kitchen if they might consider .... Make sure you share... One time brought a couple of buckets of giant mussels from the North part of the island. Scrumptious. Hank. Find the secret cave on the East side..... If I told you, it wouldn't be a secret

Most wonderful historic, rustic, and unique hotel. Simple rooms, mostly without electricity, gorgeous views, fun people, island life. If you want a standard hotel, this isn't the place; if you want an amazing stay at a place like no other, book right away! Also, the breakfast (included) is EPIC.

There is no place on the Island like "the Yew" it is one of the oldest Art student hang outs on the island. More great painting workshop students book here than anywhere else. Why...the staff gives you all kinds of kicks in the bum - with a lot of laughs -, the food is great for working artist, especially the donuts. For kids its heaven cause you can run around like crazy. I could go on, I started going to the "Yew" in 1994 and for me and my family it's the best buy on the island. Thanks Marion and the whole Yew crew. Mike D.

We had a party of 20 people for dinner. A choice of Lobsrer, Roast beef or breaded haddock. BYOB. It was homemade cooking at it's best.

One of the most beautiful islands in Maine. Hike the perimeter in about four hours. The ferry to and from the island takes about an hour. Lots of seals in the area.

I stayed here for the 2nd time this past week and everything was excellent. The staff are all super nice and accommodating and the building is in a great location to see the views of the ocean and nearby Manana.
