Campground gets a 5/5! Showers cost my review some stars.I stayed over the weekend with some friends in a camper. The area was crowded and busy this weekend, but it was quiet, clean, and enjoyable. The kids had fun in the pool several times a day while camping and we were tucked into the trees so it stayed as cool and shady as possible on a hot weekend. My only complaint goes to the showers. EVERY TIME someone adjusted a shower, flushed a toilet, or used a sink (in either bathroom) the water temperature would change from SCALDING to FREEZING in seconds. I could not get a consistent temperature, even when I was the only one in the women's bathroom. The showers can't even get 1/5 stars. Absolutely awful water temperature regulation. However, the rest of the campground was fun and clean. I would return if I did NOT have to use those showers again or once everyone has gone to sleep.

I have camped here many times. I have only stayed in the cabins, so I have no info on rv or tent sites. I have always had a positive experience here. The people at the desk have always been pleasant. The pool is clean. The bathroom is clean most of the time. The cabins that I have stayed in are well stocked with necessities. The outside of the sites were always clean. My only complaints are that the cabins are not cleaned well enough (although not dirty overall). I have always had to sweep the floor when I first arrive because there is always dirt and dog hair on the floor and downstairs beds (and I'm allergic to dogs). The beds are very old and uncomfortable as well. I would actually stay for longer periods if I didn't wake up with a very sore back every time. Great place to stay!

It’s a cute little camp ground with reasonably priced cabins. We stayed in a 4 person cabin with electric, fan and AC unit. Outside the cabin had a porch with two chairs a water spigot and a fire ring. There was a pool, playground, gazebo, arcade, laundry room, shower and bathroom facilities, and a general store. The people were warm and friendly. Everyone was respectful of quiet hours. It was a nice camp with reasonable prices. We intend to come back again.

Nice family park. Lots of children running around. We love kids so it doesn’t bother us but don’t come here on a weekend and expect a quiet retreat. They had a band play one evening and they were very good. We were in the overflow area and did not have sewer. Interior roads are narrow but the staff is very friendly. Everyone treated us like family.

Fantastic RV park! We stayed there for a week and wish we had booked a longer time! The staff was fantastic as were the other campers. The grounds are immaculate with lots of things to do for kids. We want to personally thank the staff for checking on us while we were there because of a medical problem I had. We will be back!

WONDERFUL!! We had a great pull-through site for our 2-night stay. Many people stay here for the summer season. They were so friendly and kind!! We were offered extra blocks to help stabilize our trailer (we forgot our blocks at home), and another guy brought us some firewood from his site since we were running low. Overall - very friendly campground, clean sites, professional and courteous staff, and easy check in and check out process. We stayed because this site is close to Baxter state park. We will be back!

I'm not sure why this campground had as many openings as it did. It was clean, quiet, reasonably priced and conveniently located. A very neat feature we hadn't seen previously was great for us as we arrived in the dark - site signs that were lit up without being obnoxious.

Nice campgrounds game room closes to early would have liked to play pool while doing laundry but closed at 6 pm otherwise nice clean bathrooms & laundry. Good price on 50 amp service. WiFi would not hook up at all on my phone laundry was a little high. $2.50 to wash $2.25 to dry not large loads.

This is a small campground the rv sites are tightly grouped. And approximately 45 are seasonal. Down back the tent sites. Maybe 20 have no electricity or water. Long walk to go to the bath house. We prefer the tent sites however as they are more private and quiet. We are considering a seasonal pass as there is a strong community feeling here and plenty of children for ours to hang out with.My only suggestion would be for them to send electricity to the tent sites and build a bath house down there.... This was our second year there and enjoyed it. About 45 minutes to Mt katahdin.

My girlfriend rented a cabin. She said the rates are affordable even on such a tight budget as she has. For the family there is a very decent size pool, plenty of places for hikes, very spacious camp sites, took ups for RV's, electric for all sites. Next year I will be looking into a tent site here too. This is a great place. This is our second year camping here it well worth the drive and money!

Atmosphere is ok, friendly people and very friendly staff with clean facilities and things do do for children. They are celebrating Christmas in August. As far as our site and several others they are in need of upkeep with keeping sites level from erosion. Our particular site the sewer pipe was very tall and our motor home is low so we were fighting to drain our waste because of gravity in the reverse.

The people were friendlyish, I love the sheriners weekend it's a good cause. Time to upgrade the bathrooms as well as double check the rooms when you're done cleaning them. We got to our cabin and both of the queen beds look freshly slept in! Both messed up and no sheets on any of the beds either...These photos are of exactly how the beds were when we entered the room.

A great campground with people who have the hearts of gold, that treat us all like we are family. They do so much for the children and our NASCAR Unit. They, their helpers, and all the campers here-as well as the local businesses have given so much, for so long-to help the Shrine Hospital and the children who need this special kind of help. We love you and appreciate all you do.

Large park on rolling terrain in mostly trees that features full hook up RV sites, tent sites, and cabins. A very nice pool, playground, and a clean bath house complete the picture. Propane is available as is scoop ice cream in the reception shop.

My family and I spend a lot of time at different campgrounds around the country. I had my worst experience here I've never felt so violated by someone. First, the speed limit 7.2 is hard to stay at exactly, I tried really hard just to get whistled at by the drunk owner of the grounds driving faster then 7.2 to get beside us to yell at us about how fast we supposedly where going he told us how we had been spoken to before and he had never spoken to us about anything. Our second encounter with him we where coming down over the hill to the campsite and the guy is rummaging through our stuff and telling us he is cleaning our canpsite, he said I folded all your clothes and cleaned up all your garbage, I don't think that's very good ownership being in near around someone's stuff without permission is against the law. Also if you want quiet for your family this is not the place. People where so obnoxiously loud after 1 am. There was poop in the pool and everyone was still swimming, the pool should have been shocked. Last the showers went from extremely cold to extremely hot to the point where you had to jump out. After 2 days out of 3 we decided to pack up early without a night refund and moved on to a more family orientated campground wilderness edge campground I would spend more time around wilderness edge then katahdin shadows. This campgrounds ownership and there way of camping wasn't for our family and I hope no one else encounters the same problems we did it was really sad and heartbreaking for our camping family

Friendly and clean. Pool was nice but it was cold. Sites vary from having some privacy to facing your neighbors while under your awning. This place offers tent sites and rv sites and also rents cabins of several sizes.

Convenient. Most sites are nice. Staff is helpful and responsive, and of course quite friendly. We used this as a one night stop over for heading further north to Allagash Village. Going there and back.

Love the Shadows. The seasonals are exceptionally nice, almost every weekend there is a scheduled event as well as sometimes unscheduled events. I return at least once, sometimes twice a year.

A very laid back, family type atmosphere. You are a nice distance away from many activities, like, kayaking on the river, hiking trails, Mount Katahdin, Baxter State Park. The campground itself has many activites including theme weekends, where, for instance a weekend is Christmas, complete with a Santa. The rates are very reasonable and the staff is very courteous.

This campground promotes a hostile and unsafe environment. This campground caters to the seasonal campers. If you read the other posts, you will also see the issues this campground has.It took me a while to write this review. But after reading all the other post, I decided to write it. First if you notice, there are no responses from the owners on any of the reviews. There are a lot, I mean, a lot of seasonal campers that keep their spot all year.We picked this campground so that we could hike Baxter State Park, the beginning of the AT and it had great Verizon service. We were told that it was adult weekend and that the only rule that did not apply was no quiet hours. Also the owner was very adamant, no kids. We arrived on Thursday. Our first impression was that this was a beautiful park. Our space was very packed down gravel level spot with plenty of room. On Friday a camper pulled into the spot next to us. One of the responses from this camper was, “the only difference this weekend is that there will be karaoke and a dance”. There were several groups of seasonal campers that brought younger kids. The campground filled up, my husband and I walked the campground and several different groups of the seasonal campers welcomed us. They were very friendly. Some invited us to party with them. One group of seasonal campers were playing beer pong. My husband and I was invited in for a shot of fireball. There were decorative banners and posters of female private parts, men private parts, and female doing sexual services to a guy hanging. After dark we attended the karaoke. There was a very drunk guy that kept pestering me about dancing with him. I basically told him no. I did not want any controversy or incident to happen. After we left the karaoke, we walked back over to the previous group that was playing beer pong. The group had a contractor telescoping light extended and blasting the whole area with light. They had erected a circus tent. The music was very loud. We met a guy that was a previous member of the motorcycle group called the outlaws. If you don’t know who the Outlaws are? Look them up. Maybe he still was one. He sported their tattoo and also responded that he could get us escorts by the outlaws or anything that we needed. After a while a male gay couple walked up. My husband and I befriended the male gay couple. After about an hour and more partying and drinking, the tattooed motorcycle guy started gay bashing the gay couple. It was very offensive, and my husband felt that it might become unsafe for us to stay there. However, I was gone to my campsite with one of the gay guys to get him a drink. Upon return I was asked to go get the other gay guy to let him know what was going on, feeling that something terrible might happen. I was directed to a popup camper. I knocked on the door. The boyfriend of the owner of the camper on that site opened the door. They were doing pot in the camping and maybe something else. The guy was very loud and obnoxious. This person immediately proceeded to get in my face, and I was knocked to the ground. I said to the guy several times that all I was wanting to do was talk to the gay guy. My husband came over when he heard the commotion. There was an altercation. My husband was knocked to the ground. Next thing there was a group of people surrounding us. The owner who was parting and drinking with them came over and immediately asked us to go back to our campsite. The next morning my husband went to talk to the owner but he basically didn't care. We packed up and left. I did not want to be in this type of environment. We will not ever come back to this campground. I can give you my opinion, but I don’t think that is needed. You can just read my review.

When you enter this park the parking area to register is on the side of a steep hill. Big rigs should pull up to the left side of the flag poles and park there to avoid the steep tight turns in front of the office. The road around the campground is gravel, well maintained, but can be tight in areas if you’re a 40ft class A with toad. A lot of the park is filled with long term and seasonal quests, many with permanent porches, sheds and satellite dishes nailed to trees. This makes the place look more like a travel trailer park than a campground. There are only 6 shaded 30/50amp shared pedestal full-hookup pull thru sites for large rigs, everything else is back-in. If you want some shade and are willing to maneuver into a site, you might fit into one on the hill but it is very treed so getting a satellite view will be a problem. Some of the power pedestals may be out of reach for your power cord up there, if so, ask the office for an extension if you don’t have one. The staff is very helpful and will loan you a 30 amp cord to use. If you don’t need sewer and want an easy back-in with open skies stay in Violette’s field, a water & electric only level grass yard. You will have plenty of room to maneuver a big rig into place without any obstacles. The bathroom, showers and laundry are all clean and well maintained. Sprint has no service in the area. :-( The free park WIFI worked fine near the office but got slower the further away you were.

The owner is the most rude and demeaning person I have ever met besides my ex husband. He will yell at women when their husband's aren't there to defend them, then yell at their children and elderly family members who try to speak in their defense.

Great campground, lots of activities for the kiddos, live band, games. Rainy weekend but was still awesome. Very quiet at night. Will be back for sure.

This is a great campground, kept very clean and quiet. Cabins don't have toilets (the website is very honest about this). People are friendly, full hookups are available, and kids love the swimming pool and playground.

This place is an amazing place if you want to go camping for the summer. They have games, a swimming pool, and a very friendly community. They have a store in the campground, a gazebo you can hang out in, and a playground for kids. It is a very large camping ground and everyone seems very friendly.
