We went in the Machias Dollar General today, December 12th, for the first time in over six months. Though we like the variety offered and the prices, we have always found the store very cluttered and crowded! It was worse then ever today!! Very dirty, with old price stickers stuck on the floor, scraps of paper etc. It was very cold in the store, the cashier said there hadn't been any heat for days and they were waiting for a part! The really unbelievable part of our visit was that the ladies restroom was STILL out of order and the men's restroom STILL had a sign saying the key had been lost!! and to make sure you propped the door open after you used the facilities!! Who manages this store!! Please address these issues!!

There is a sign posted in the door to please wear a mask. Being a visitor to the area from MA with a negative COViD test, I was very happy to see that. However, when I went into the store, The woman working at the cash register was not wearing a mask. When I asked her about it, she pointed to some thing around her neck that she was not wearing. Wearing a mask is not a civil liberty issue. They are to prevent others from potentially getting sick, especially those of us who are immune compromised. Only the mask- wearer can control what they could be spreading. We visit this area often, and will not be returning to this store again. I hope management does something to enforce their mask policy with our employees moving forward.

The blonde cashier was very rude. Tried to buy a tabbaco product, and being 21 YEARS OF AGE, she refused to sell to me, she dropped my ID on the counter and said "bye, you're not 21". She did this because my ID didn't scan through the machine. She did not check my birth date, and continued to insult me as I left the store, after that, another cashier came out, apologized for his co-worker, confirmed my age with my ID and sold the tabbaco product to me. The man was wonderful, the blonde girl on the other hand, was a real piece of work. Very disappointed.

This store is an anomoly.I love it, because it's so eerie and fits right in with the fact that Machias is incredibly haunted and scary.The speakers that constantly play country music are always fuzzy and gritty, and you can just barely recognize the song it's playing.It's jam packed full of stuff, and the shelves are so high you can't reach the top if you're short like me.It always is very clean, though, and smells nice.Great price for stuff that you buy, really awesome.I always feel bad for the employees cus they never smile, but I still think they're great for putting up with working in a Dollar General in Machias Maine.11/10 store.

I just happened to wander into the Machias, Maine., Dollar General store tonight. I was looking for gifts. Im a man., i really am not great at picking out gifts., I am also nervous in stores as I have p.t.s.d. My stress and frustration were starting to get the best of me., and then the coolest, most calming store clerk I have ever had the pleasure to encounter., politely asked me if I needed some advice. I am blown away by this excellent Dollar General staff member. Her name is Katie Lee. She is an awesome person. I will do all of my shopping in the future with the Machias Dollar General. I do not want to take away from the other employees that work at that location. I am actually looking forward to my next trip to the store !

Has all kinds of items of essential needs from Tooth paste to deodorant to kids toys and also food I can get anything I am looking for right here even for diapers for my daughter without having to travel a half hour to an hour to get supplies for life so much easier for me especially where far from other shopping centers I recommend this to all kinds of shoppers

The local DG in Machias has great deals and a large variety of items! Great place for a bargin shopper for sure!Unfortunetly, you'll probably have to sift through shelves and cluttered aisles to find what your looking for.As for the customer service, they do not pay very good attention to waiting customers at the register and not all of them have a professional welcome feeling you expect in a general store.

I stood at the register for almost 5 minutes before someone came to wait on me there was no Bell to ring for someone and I hollered two or three times and nobody heard me .
