This was one of our favorite stays on our trip to Maine! Everything in the room was fresh and clean and the owners were so nice and accommodating. The inn is so well kept and the restaurant was absolutely delicious! It was the best meal we had on our week long trip! The location is perfect and beautiful. Adorable little town with a lot of charm. We would not stay anywhere else on our next visit!

We stayed the night and loved it! Jim and Judy were very friendly and accommodating. We had a room and bathroom that was beautifully decorated and very clean. The shared livingroom was spacious and comfy and had a beautiful view of the bay. The bed was comfy and linens were crisp and clean. In the morning, we had fresh out of the oven homemade muffins and delicious coffee. We will definitely stay here again. The two other couples that were staying the same time as us said they loved their stay and would be back as well. Thank you for the wonderful stay Jim and Judy.Karen and Joe

We didn't stay, but we did have ALL our dinners here. Jim & Judy were superb and charming hosts, and Larry & Bill at the bar had us laughing between sips and bites. Great food and a nice variety on the menu that changes the first of the month. We just couldn't get enough, so we kept going back for all our dinners. This place is clearly the social center in town, and tourists are treated like locals.

8/24/23 Ate at the restaurant on our second to last night in Lubec. We sat at the bar for our dinner and met fantastic people! The bartender was super and the food was amazing 🤩 I made a reservation for our last night before we paid the bill!8/25/23..second night’s dinner was just as phenomenal! We had a table this time, our waiter was probably the best waiter we have ever had 😊 My blackened haddock (last night was salmon with blueberries) had the perfect bite and my boyfriend said his filet mignon cut like butter. The bite I took of his strawberry rhubarb pie was a taste of heaven. I plan on trips to Lubec being a yearly thing and will definitely make sure we make reservations for multiple evenings!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the inn for two nights and ate dinner here one night. The rooms were clean, great location in downtown Lubec, and super fun to watch seals in the harbor from the common room. The dinner we had was one of the highlights of our trip - great service from a waiter who very graciously showed us how to eat a lobster. Everything we ate was delicious - I highly recommend dining here and if you can-staying a while!

I didn’t give one star because I can’t speak to the food or the service beyond the rude reception my fiancé and I encountered when we went in to see about having a drink at the bar. The older gentleman said curtly “we don’t do that here. You’ll have to go across the street for that.” The next day we were talking to a woman we met about it and she had the same experience with the same man with the same snooty attitude. Don’t get me wrong, I am not entitled and if they don’t let people come in solely to spend money at the bar, that’s fine. But be polite and considerate about it. We’re from Maine and will be back to visit Lubec but we will not be entering the tavern again.

Perfect anniversary meal in a beautiful location with stunning views. This restaurant ticked all the boxes. Superb chef, attentive, friendly and professional service. Ambient, rustic interior with table settings overlooking the ocean. The owner was very personable and came over to talk with us after our meal. Now, lets talk about the food... My husband and I had pasta, with scallops, mushrooms and tomatoes in a garlic cream sauce. Delicately flavored, al dentè pasta, and fresh bread. It was wonderful, and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back.

I ate here twice during my stay in Lubec. This restaurant has it all—an amazing view and ambiance, friendly and personal staff, and delicious seafood. My first night, I enjoyed the mussels appetizer with garlic bread. The seafood was steamed in a fantastic lemony garlic sauce and the garlic roll was fresh and hot. The restaurant was lively late into the evening. I was so excited on my second night to enjoy a lobster with sweet potato fries and cooked carrots. The owner of the restaurant was sweet to introduce herself and share the history of the the two hundred-year old building. I am from Maine, so know a good sized lobster when I see one—this one was huge! Cooked perfectly. Lastly, I enjoyed a warm slice of strawberry rhubarb pie and vanilla ice cream. This was a meal that brings me back to my idyllic childhood in Maine. I look forward to returning!

I have been making an annual "pilgramage" to Maine's Bold Coast for over 20 years and have stayed and dined at the Waterstreet Tavern & Inn since it opened in 2010. To say that Jim & Judy are superb hosts is an understatement. The comfortable rooms at the Inn reflect their attention to detail and the restaurant, well the restaurant is the "piece de resistance" - great menu and atmosphere and food that is to die for - always the highlight of my trip to Maine! For single travelers like myself (and couples for that matter), the bar is THE place to have dinner, drinks and great conversation with an eclectic mix of locals and "tourists" alike.

I stayed here for a weekend to get away this summer. The place was so quiet and rustic. The views were amazing, and the owners were so hospitable. They served fresh warm muffins with coffee, creamer, milk, and a side of yogurt and a fruit. We also had dinner below at their restaurant, and that was amazing in itself. Food is amazingly priced, locally sourced, and the atmosphere is perfect. Reservations ONLY.

Very friendly staff, good room rate, and wonderful location by the water. There were a number of charming business nearby, but many had limited hours and were closed when we were there. The Inn had relatively “thin” walls and sound can be heard from other rooms. This was not an issue for my stay, but light sleepers might want to keep this in mind. Great stay, would visit again.

Another amazing dining experience at Water Street Tavern and Inn. Jimmy, Judy, Bill, Larry, Kim, and Kaci are always welcoming, and Matt’s meals are nothing short of exceptional in every way. Can’t wait to go back SOON.

Stayed here for 3 nights in the two bedroom unit while on our trip through Maine at the end of July 2022. I was very happy with my choice!! Great hosts (a million thanks, Jim and Judy) wonderful food and even better staff in the restaurant, VERY friendly people in the town! It's one of those places I choose on every vacation that just let's my mind rest for the time I'm there, peace and quiet. Woke up to the first sunrise in the USA every day right on the water...have daydreamed about it since coming home. If I ever have the opportunity to go back, this is where I'll stay again. From coffee and muffins brought to the room each morning to the wonderful scenery and hospitality. Thank you! The picture is at sunrise from "my" porch overlooking the water, just to the right and off camerashot is the bridge to Canada and a short drive to Campobello, FDR's summer "cottage" - not to be missed!

Water Street Tavern exceeded our expectations. Jim was accommodating with our reservations, helped us make reservations for the following day, and even took time to show my wife the tips and tricks to cracking open a lobster. The rest of the staff was also pleasant and attentive and the food was delicious. Very glad we found this spot while on our vacation in Lubec.

Went here for supper and we were very disappointed. The good: The service was great as we never waited long for our order and we were attended to often throughout the meal by our server. Food was quick to be served. The fish was fresh which was nice. The bad: The food was very overpriced for what was received. Spring rolls were frozen and not made fresh...they tasted of freezer burn. The mains: the fish was fresh and the steak was good however the garnishes weren’t at all. Carrots tasted like they were frozen and just thawed and the sauce was too sweet. Red wine was served from an open bottle behind the bar and it wasn’t chilled. Not the worst meal but definitely not worth the price. Unfortunately we didn’t see until after but the Lubec Brewing Company has an Argentinian chef with fresh made authentic Argentinian dishes for much less money and they looked and smelled delicious (we went there for beers after). Save your money and go down the street for a much better meal at a fraction of the cost.

This was the best dinner I’ve had in a while. My party of three had parmesan crusted baked haddock, scampi and roasted duck with a citrus glaze. All the food tasted incredible and the presentation was excellent. The restaurant was full but we still had top notch, personal service and the food arrived very quickly. The wine selection was also great! Excellent bottle choices at a very reasonable price.I will be returning to this restaurant every time I’m in Lubec.

We were so lucky to have found a room here the night we stayed as we didn't have reservations and most of the area seemed to be booked up. We really would have taken anything, but someone was watching out for us because we landed here. Jim was very accommodating and personable, the room was charming and homey, and the restaurant was top notch (I highly recommend the sautéed scallops if they're available). It was a great stay and my only regret was that we weren't able to stay longer. If we're ever up Lubec-way again, Water Street Tavern is the first reservation we'll make!

We spent the night in the Inn and ate dinner downstairs. The room is a good size with a great view (and breeze). The bed is comfortable and the bathroom serves well. There is a common room that connects the four guest rooms where breakfast is served and the guests can interact. We spoke to the owner at length, he’s warm and friendly. You can tell he has years of dealing with the public. We had the local beer and a gin and tonic. I had the beer and should have used the plural. They were good, you knew you had gin in your tonicThe meals were excellent. The service timely and attentive. I had the scallops and haddock. Lightly breaded and fried (like a good southern chicken). The wife had the lobster. She’s picky and pleased. The price was great on two counts. First, it was almost half of what we’re still seeing in our local fish market in Boston. Second, it’s larger (1.6-2.0 lbs.) than many restaurants serve. The sides, I agree with an earlier review - the bourbon carrots are the best-first choice. We both went with the red-roasted as our second. Almost as good as the carrots. I know -2 roots! Who knew? This is definitely a place to put on your list, either to come too or to return too.Hope to see you when we return.

This is one of the most amazing restaurants on the PLANET! The food has me drooling every time I think of it. The mom and son chefs go out of their way to ensure everything is fresh and tasty. I’d eat here every night if I could!.... ohhhh, and don't even get me started on their “from scratch” cakes and pies! The owners are delightful and both Jim and Judy stopped at the table to be sure we were happy. The wine selection is the very best in the county and they will make pairing suggestions as well.

This Inn was VERY nice. Location, Location. Beautiful view across channel to Mulholland Lighthouse and the Bay of Fundy. Tavern downstairs was great. Peanut Butter frosted chocolate cake was monster sized - 4 layers. Quite Delicious!Only three rooms upstairs with a common room with a huge window to view the Bay. We had room#1. Very roomy and comfortable. Looked newly renovated. Very nice. I just loved the wide pine wood floors. For breakfast, Delicious carrot muffins were served with yogurt. Perfect start to the day. Friendly staff and owner.

The two bedroom suite was a perfect getaway for our family. The suite features a full kitchen with dining table and counter seating, a bathroom with shower and washer/dryer, and a living room area. A very comfortable setup for a family. The location is great! Right in Lubec's charming downtown and on the waterfront. The suite looks out onto the waterfront where you can watch seals eating their fill of fish as the tides change. Across the channel you will look over to Roosevelt-Campobello Island (🇨🇦).In the morning, the innkeeper brought us fresh baked muffins, coffee, yogurt, and juice! The personal attention and friendliness were very much appreciated.

I would give this restaurant a five star rating if it wasn’t for the man ( host ) that met us at the door. He was extremely rude and over the hill snobbish. We asked for a table for four and was told the wait to be served was long. We told him no problem as we could just have a drink while we waited. He thought we said all we wanted to do was have drinks and not eat. He kept saying that he needed to “fill” the table with dinner guests. Finally he understood we also wanted to eat and led us to a table like he was on a death march and then made the comment “Welcome to Lubec” with a sneer. Our waiter was terrific and the food was superb. $250 later we left feeling quite full and satisfied. It’s a shame the first person we met was certainly not the right person for the job.

Jim and Judy are such great hosts. This is old town Lubec made to feel like a great home. The food was great and the room was such a treat. We stayed in the Harbor View suite and the views were fantastic. Watching the tides and wildlife were such a bonus. We would for sure come back. 5 stars is not enough. Thank you Jim and Judy.

I can't speak highly enough of this place. The food really is top shelf. The owners knew we were coming in to stay the night and kept the kitchen open for us.Outstanding service in the restaurant, and the inn portion matches or exceeded that. Very clean, great decor, an absolutely perfect way to spend a night downeast. Plan to spend about $100 for the room, and $125 for dinner - but again, totally and completely worth every penny. The views from the inn and the dining are stunning.

The narrows suite is an apartment with comfortable homey furnishings, an equipped kitchen, enormous living room and great views toward Campobello. Excellent for wandering the area. We did not expect the included breakfast nor the washer and dryer! Not soundproof but just squeaking old floors and water sounds in the pipes. Tavern food was good. Sunset was amazing.

We rolled the dice and selected this place not knowing this would turn out tone the best dining experience of our trip. The owners really take pride in their establishment. The service, the quality of the food, and the waterfront view are such a great memory. Jim the owner is just a fun guy.
