Drove an hour to get here to drive through, and the visitor center was closed before 4pm. Dissappointing, do not reccommend. Would give 0 stars if able to.

Trails are beautiful, the gift shop is cheap and the volunteers are super friendly and helpful. Whether you are going for a casual stroll the woods or doing the full circuit, this place is for everyone. Snowshoeing & cross country skiing in the winter, hiking in the spring & fall, always a pleasure. One suggestion is to bring something to scare animals away. Hardly ever needed, but better safe than sorry.

Very beautiful trail system for walking and skiing while keeping an eye out for native species. There is plenty of room in the parking lot, and they have a nice store run by volunteers that is open a few hours per week. They occasionally have tours and events.

Not too much to do in northeastern Aroostook County, so for the area these trails are ok. There are 4 access points. I started at the far western one (aptly named West Gate), went to K-9, then kind of made my own path back via part of the base roads and part retracing my steps.

Quiet, well maintained trails for snowshoeing or xc ski in winter. Flat with no views or elevation changes to speak of. Wildlife is abundant but shy of people- tracks in snow are all I've seen.

Lots of trails which appear maintained. Visitor center was closed even though we visited when it was supposed to be open. Perhaps no staff due to covid-19? Portapotty was in need of servicing. We visited at the end of June, highly recommend an insect repellent, hat and insect shield for your face ( also known as black fly netting). The biting insects were fierce and would fly under our hats to go after our faces on the trails that were not under trees. Hope to return later in the year to continue exploring.

For a bird and wildlife sanctuary there are many walking paths. Not so much for driving around to enjoy the scenery. Beautiful place none the less. The deserted cold war bunkers seem out of place but the birds don't care.

Amazing ski trails! Even a couple small hills that were fun. Several connecting trails for those who desire different lengths. Highly recommend!!!
