So, I do most of my shopping at the Lewiston Shaws and most of the time I have a good experience, however what I am leaving this review for is one particular fairly new male employee working the customer service booth who shouldn't be working the customer service booth. He has waited on me 4 times now and while not really rude, he is not friendly either. He acts put out if you ask for more than one transaction, doesn't listen well as I have to repeat what I want and he has gotten the transaction wrong a few times and seems to want to rush you out the door. Management either needs to have a serious talk with him or move him into a position that doesn't involve dealing with customers. When I walked in today and saw him I almost walked out as I didn't want him waiting on me. Oh, and I have spoken to a few people about this and they have the same opinion about him.

So as everyone who has lived in this area, Lewiston, Auburn, Lisbon ext. Knows there is 3 major grocery stores and a few smaller ones but IMO there is Shaw's, Hannaford, and Walmart. There is positives for each one and negatives as well but it is definitely a matter of personal preference and for me shaws has the best produce products and if you spend a few minutes looking for the best deals you can save some money. If you are looking for the best place for you I would suggest just giving each one a try to decide for yourself.

Went into shaws on Tuesday afternoon and I was standing in line at the checkout.a lady came up behind me because she needed a carrying basket so she picked it up and said too me that she had to walk all the way down from the entrance on the right side of the building and all the way to the Left side of the store to grab the basket at the checkout line so I said to her that it doesn't make sense because at night the entrance is closed on the left side of the building and you have to walk over to get a basket at the entrance that is closed because their isn't any at the self checkout and during the day time you can use that entrance but you have to walk over by the self checkouts to get a basket and you have to realize some people have handicaps . PS as I was talking to the lady I was getting a dirty look from a lady that was bagging peoples goods and I believe she is a manager so that was inappropriate but I did give 4 Stars because it's a easy fix someone has to pay attention .

This place is always stocked and clean.. that's a good thing in my book! Bought a bunch of fruit when I made my last trip there, and the fruits and veggies are always fresh looking. It's a good place to shop but sometimes a little pricey, compared to other stores. I live on a budget since being retired, so I have to shop sales for most things. It helps if you have their rewards, cause you get the deals.

We waited at self checkout for a team leader to reset register for 5 minutes just ignored.Looked like manager seen us and just walked off. I can just go to Hanneford or even Walmart if customer service is going to be like this WOW!

I like Shaws but sometimes they make up new rules every time I shop there. I try to only shop for the deals that they have. I tried to use a rain check there today and they wouldnāt fully honor it.

From someone who knows a couple things about food safety, the slicers never look clean, they always look messy and dirty. Especially when I went to go and get my cheese sliced, the WHITE American cheese would come out orange or red from the Munster and other cheeses, the slicers should be cleaned more and not made to be messy. And the meat slicer is a whole other story. I saw someone order ham and then the clerk would not clean it or do anything to wipe it off then serve turkey or serve beef right after. Some people canāt eat red meats or due to religion they canāt eat ham or beef. Other than that the lacart is ok, thereās some days where there are good options and good foods out but thatās rare. And the salad case never looks appetizing. It always looks old and gross. I understand that sometimes it can be busy and you canāt get around to everything and you just canāt do it. But itās every time I go thereās always a big mess with the slicers.

This review ONLY cover the deli.Proper cleaning of hands and equipment doesnāt happen. Employees do NOT clean slicers after cutting bloody meats. Order thinly sliced chicken and it comes back with blood on the meat. Watched a guy go from pulling trash out of the trash can, and immediately putting on gloves to help a customer. No hand washing.Complained about it to the deli manager, the assistant store manager, and the store manager.Nothing was remedied or even addressed.

This is where we go all the time for our groceries. We like the fact that they have everything we ever need dislike the fact that if you go in the morning you have to do self-check out always and I always go in the morning because they have discounted meat, that is the last day they could sell it but still perfectly good and that's why I go at 6:30 in the morning to save money. And then you have to wait for somebody to help you anyway because those coupons don't go in which is very frustrating that you still have to wait but they don't have cashiers at that hour. The staff is always amazing they're always friendly they they do know me and I like that. It's the local grocery store here for me anyway there are several in the area but I prefer this one. They always have good meats good bakery and all the standard grocery foods that you want. And even the new stuff try to be helpful sometimes they don't know something but they do their very best that's what I like

I do one to two Drive Up and Go orders here every week. My orders are always ready well before my scheduled pick up time. The associates have always been friendly. Sometimes you may get an out of stock item but if you take the time to set up substitutions on items you really need you won't be left without. Keep up the good work.

Usually we do self checkout but we went to a cashier this time and this is the second time this gentlemen was our cashier that we experienced. Both times he didnāt say a word to us. No acknowledgment. Not even if we wanted bags. Just proceeded to talked to the woman who started bagging our stuff and halfway through their conversation the woman realized we werenāt asked if we wanted bags. The only thing this cashier said was āput your card inā and I said āI did, itās waiting for you.ā That was is it. No thank you or have a nice day. I donāt mind if the lines are long and this store seems always to be short staffed - but please teach your cashiers basic customer service skills.

Great store but lacking on accessibility options. I went shopping with my husband one day and found a motorized cart fully charged, yet before I could get through the produce department it died on me. When I inquired if they had another one they said that was the only one for the entire store and did not offer a basic unmotorized wheelchair. It's not a big deal but it would be nice to see larger grocers have better equipment and offer more for people who are mobility impaired.

I don't normally shop at Shaw's but we needed a drink and a quick bathroom break. One of the first things I always look for is how clean is the entrance. Right off I was amazed at how clean the floor: doors and glass was. Walking in all the displays were full and the baked goods looked incredible. I had to walk around a bit more just to see how more of the store looked. Every are we walked through looked great. I've always felt Shaw's prices were to high but definitely saw some good deals. The staff I talked to were very friendly and helpful with the questions I asked. I definitely would stop in again to see if it was as good.

Lately when I go there the cashiers seem to be rude . I understand they want to go home but instead of being more worried about the clock they should really learn some customer service . Chloe for instance when I said I donāt know what happened because I clip my rewards coupon for 7dollars off my purchase it didnāt come off . Her response very rudely was well if we didnāt see it then we canāt do nothing about it . I was taken aback by the facts that she could of said oh I am sorry letās try to look into it . I had it happen a year ago and they helped figure it which was a glitch in the computer . The bagger leaning over the end of the Bagging area looked like she couldnāt be bothered .I go to Shaws not only because of where I live across from it but I believed they were super however the employees lack of guest service skills is quickly making me want to go elsewhere .I am a supervisor I understand things happen but always make it right with the guest and even make them feel welcome .

Every time I go to the deli they get what I order all over the container and hardly secure it. Last time I went I used all my rewards on your chicken! Should have been thrown out! Hard as a rock! And the fryers were on auto clean so it was old. Called store no offer to replace the points

Love this grocery store. There's been fluctuations in ability to stock but that's nation wide and most of the time they have everything we need and they'll do their best to obtain any item you'd like.

Third time I've gotten bad meat from here. Luckily I realized before I cooked it. When I called store they didn't apologize all they said well we can give you your money back I explained nicely I was more worried about the other meat on shelves that other people would buy. Been coming here for years but will no longer buy meat.

Shaw's is my favourite store. They have a lot of special deals. Store is always clean and well lit. They rarely run out of items I shop for. I like the fact that I can get up to $1.00 off gas by saving up points.

I like shaws there self checkout is the worst! need to hit the button that have own bag after each item scanned , can't put bags on side to bag after scanning or it messes up and have to wait for someone. definitely needs be fixed now that customers have to bag their own and use own bags. overall they have good stuff and variety and I like cleanliness and most staff are very nice.

As an instacart shopper, I was prevented from completing my order. I asked your associates multiple times for bags and they shrugged their shoulders and refused to acknowledge me. I have no issue paying 5 cents each. This cancelation is now on my record and will be impairing my ability to get new orders. Please train your staff to acknowledge customers when asked simple questions.

Doing as best as they can given their location and the Covid Change Of Life Issues. Wish they would have a special department where they would buy more from local farmers and more local products. Like what they have for the vegan or organic section. Maybe a row dedicated to locals supporting locals/ Know Your Farmer/Locals Supporting Locals Section. Each store can tailor to whats in their area so it might even bring in customes from another area even.Might help with the empty shelves look or sold out sections of the rest of the store. More so if they can buy local meats. Im sure we all want to know our food is healthy and not manufactured in another state.Maybe its just me observing more these days.Other then that the employees are friendly and it doesnt smell of yuck when you walk in. They are following ALL Maine laws with the C- Word!!!

@Gage a new associate of yours...or maybe I just ran into him today. Great young man. Thanks for being a good sport and being personable to a guy not totally paying attention to open check out lines! I saw a few people getting checked out this Friday early evening and didn't even see his checkout line light wasn't even lit up. He said no sweat come on down as I only had 8 quick items. Heck of a good young man Gage! Great sense of humor and the kid was hustling...thanks for yet again another great experience Shaws Lewiston and thank you Gage for taking a few extra moments that he didn't have to spend on me. Great young man you guys have there!
