Good selection of equestrian products with a focus on english riding, carries a selection of western apparel and tack. Large store with an enjoyable browsing layout. There is a used/consignment section with a fair bit of options. The store has changing rooms and a bathroom. Carries grain, medication, supplements, and fencing products. Also has a small livestock product selection. Amazing customer service. Owners are incredibly personable. Some products are a few dollars more than larger chain stores, but supporting a small local business is worth the few extra dollars. Lots of parking and a loop around for large trailers to pull out.

Maine horse and rider provided AWESOME service when I purchased a saddle from them online. They answered the phone promptly and were bayou to answer all of my questions, including going and checking the saddle for several features. They sent the correct size Bates gullet to fit my pony and they shipped the saddle right away. It arrived within a week (fast for a saddle). They even texted to verify a couple of things to be absolutely sure the order was right. Great tack shop!!

I was visiting Maine from NYC when I stopped at Maine Horse and Rider. Amazing selection, reasonable prices, and fantastic customer service! I am very happy with my purchase. Its nice to know that customer service is not a lost art! I wish this place was closer!

Maine Horse & Rider is wicked awesome. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, great selection. They carry anything our vet or farrier has recommended & have great stuff for us owners as well. I consider myself very lucky to have them as my reference! They've assisted us greatly with nutrition for a sick horse, nutrition for a Cushing's pony. I cannot recommend them more highly!

I sort of stumbled onto this tack shops web page because I needed saddles and all the fixings for both my daughter and I but I also needed a saddle fitter since the new horse I purchased had a major saddle sore. The closest, legitimate saddle fitter I could find was four hours away racking up a hefty travel time bill I would have to pay. When I googled saddle fitters near me, Maine Horse and rider appeared. I thought this was too good to be true since they are only 1 1/2 hr. away from me so I figured I'd call and ask some questions. From the moment I first spoke to Kathy I KNEW this place is one I wanted to do business with even if they didn't do saddle fitting. I learned that they do in fact do saddle fitting if you purchase a saddle from them and the cost was next to nothing, even free if you live closer! The best part comes next: I made my purchases and ran into some minor difficulty getting the bridle to sit correctly on my horse because I have never used a dressage bridle before. Kathy patiently face timed me and walked me through every step. This business surely cares about people and horses alike and they have won me over hands and hooves down. Thank you Maine Horse and Rider!!!

Riding horses is an expensive hobby, but they do have good clearance items, and a good selection of consignment for kids riding wear. You can also find a great selection of moderately priced items as well as the most expensive, top of the line items.
