Anxiously waiting for the shack to open again in May. As someone who doesn't often order lobster when we go out because most places over cook it, Five Islands always nails it. And then you have the view, does it get any better? lastly, the crew there is always relaxed and nice.Wheelchair accessibility: I'm in a manual chair and have no issues getting service.

Couldn't recommend this little gem enough! Definitely more of a locals place with less tourists which makes it the perfect little escape. Being right on the water is an added bonus. This is especially true when you watch the lobsters be brought right up from the dock below. There are lots of options other than lobster available. Our party was a mix and my grandmother loved the crab cake sandwich. My cousin got the haddock sandwich with cilantro mayo, and as a local she knows where the good stuff is!I got lobster. Weighed right in front of me, reasonably priced, and FRESH! I said good bye and sorry to my lobster, checked out, and was given a boat as a calling card for my order. Quick service is an understatement. My mom got steamers and was VERY happy!!Not enough nice things to say about the staff or the food.Parking: The parking lot may not be huge right in front, but there is extra parking across the street and we had no trouble at all!Wheelchair accessibility: There is no place a wheel chair can't get to. It may be a bit of a tight squeeze into the snack shack, but it's all open air seating.

Awesome little place with good food and great views. Situated overlooking the water, awesome spot to grab a bite and take in the atmosphere. Parking could be tight if the area is busy. We went about an hour before close and had no problems parking near the small pond/park on the left as you get near Five Islands.

This is the quintessential Maine lobster experience. Five Islands is right on a working wharf. The lobster doesn't get much fresher than this! Parking in the area can be scarce during busy times, but there is a nearby town parking lot (free!)that you could walk from. There are picnic tables you can eat at. I got a lobster roll (my favorite) but they have other menu choices and whole lobster as well. I like their style of lobster roll, because it is light on sauce. It is served with potato chips and the price was just what I expected.

We only have two but couldn’t say no to their food. It’s very fresh which doesn’t need too much seasoning. The deep fried scallops is also very great. It’s very hard to say which one is the best as all of them are very tasty.

Onion rings are fantastic. If they have them... seriously suggest ordering them. They cut them fresh every day. Great atmosphere. Beautiful views. Ordered Haddock fish and chips and a lobster roll. Big meaty pieces of haddock with just the right amount of batter. Lobster was very fresh and not overly covered in mayo. Really cute spot. We got here just in time before the rain hit and they shut down for the day. We got a bit confused about which building to order from. One does lobster rolls and fish fry's, the other does the live lobster plates but (obviously) we figured it out! Everyone was very friendly.

What seems like a typical tourist restaurant (it is) has an amazing menu with MANY selections, all of which taste and look great! The portions are large. Their lobster selections are as good, if not better than many other seafood restaurants! We were a party of 4 and ordered different selections, all of which were delicious. The restaurant was clean, busy and, if you have seats by the windows you can watch, through their binoculars, the Osprey in their nest on a tall pole, next to the restaurant. The views are also very nice. The service was prompt, helpful and friendly. Try it-you will really like it!

I've been to Five Island numerous times, and I'll keep coming back for the gorgeous views and delicious food. You can also bring your own alcoholic beverages.I'm not a lobster guy, so I highly recommend the fish and chips and/or the Philly cheesesteak.Wheelchair accessibility: There is only one handicapped spot for this establishment. With that being said, the parking lot is fairly level. Maybe a 3% grade as you enter the lot and levels out as you get closer to the dock.

This is SO WORTH the wait and high cost. The lobster was fantastic. Onion rings are gigantic portions. Byob. You sit on picnic tables. Locals brought tablecloths which kept their areas cleaner. One group brought a salad and pie to accompany their food. We got a lobster roll with cilantro mayo on the side. Fantastic. Steak sandwich was giant portion, too. The atmosphere was so pleasant. Watching the boats and lobstermen made it very fun!

This was our best meal since arriving in Maine. While boiled lobsters with a side of boiled sweet corn and a blueberry soda. Great value and awesome views off the pier at low tide. Our family vacation was more complete with this authentic Maine experience. It was a joy watching my family try their first whole boiled lobster! My only critical comment; I wish they were open during the week.

We always visit here when we are in Maine. When we lived in Maine, it was my go-to for lobsters. It doesn't get as fresh as right off the boat to the dock! It's definitely busy on the weekends- we usually park in the public lot up the road. There are picnic tables for people to share and it's BYOB. Again, plan ahead on weekends!

Wow! This place doesn't disappoint. The lobster roll was filled to the brim and lightly dressed so you could really taste the lobster. It was unbelievably fresh. The fried haddock was great as well. Their tartar sauce was so flavorful, I was tempted to get a side to just dip my friend into. Plus, you can't beat the view. Right on the dock, overlooking the ocean. This was our first trip out to Maine, and my first Maine lobster roll, and I'm beyond happy. Just be prepared that it can get buggy at night. There was a breeze when we were there, but when the breeze died down, the mosquitos were coming out.

Great ambiance but even in May during late afternoon the wait was longer than 30 mins to order, staff was stressed out & a little snippy, and the lobster was overcooked. Halibut chowder was tasty but mostly broth with a few pieces of fish.Reg size lobster roll, onion rings, chowder, and a soda ran me about $50.

A Maine standout. The views of north Gr Sheepscot are worth the trip. A real, working dock with excellent lobster rolls, lobster and other food items. Has been featured on a variety of TV shows, travel guides and even a national car commercial.

End of season, no lines. Got both hardshell and soft shell to compare. Soft shell is so much sweeter. Both delicious, we decimated those poor lobsters. Potatoes were good, corn seem like it had been sitting in water for awhile.Great view and scenery of the scattered islands. I think we even saw an otter under one of the dock walkways.Price was good compared to other more touristy shacks we checked out.The road leading to the pier was also nice with some twistes and zero g hills.

this is the real deal. you stand in line, order your food and they show you what's going into the pot with your name on it. it's Maine lobstah time! we arrived shortly after 6 on a Monday and they were already out of slaw and corn. so what! order a bigger lobby! they are cooked to order and to perfection (a bit salty for my low-salt palate) and come out hot! while you wait on the pleasant deck, try their delicious chowdah. prices are terrific, too.Kid-friendliness: it's kids and dogs friendly out on the deck (no indoor seating, so bring a sweater--the evenings cool off quickly).

I don't like seafood at all but my family does and I am still rating this 5 stars. The setting is where this place wins all day long. It sits on working docks and as you sit you will see boats pull up and drop off fresh lobsters. The little bay is dotted with islands full of trees. Water is like glass you can see the sea weeds dancing back and forth with the tide. My wife said her lobster roll was very good and alot of lobster.

A quintessential Maine experience! Pick a sunny day, put on some sunscreen (you will be waiting in line outdoors), and come hungry. Fried oysters and clams, fresh lobsters with sides, and of course lobster rolls! The only thing that kept it from being a 5 star review is that the lobster roll didn’t come with any sauce, and though I could have requested some and mixed it in myself I thought that was a missed opportunity.

Definitely worth a visit! We had for lunch a hard shell lobster, so fresh and tasty, and a lobster roll with plenty of lobster meat (not the best we had during our trip though). Onion rings, coleslaw and corn as sides were really good as well. Plus, you will enjoy an amazing harbor view while eating on the deck.

My husband, a native New Englander, said it was the best lobster he's ever had! We loved the experience of sitting right on a live fishing dock, but in a comfortable picnic like setting with other friendly New Englanders and folks on vacation. The scene of the five islands surrounding you is almost like you're on a movie set. If you're in the area- it's a must!

I love this fishing village, although it has definitely changed over the years. This photo is reversed, but shows the beauty. My family had a home here for just a smidgen under 100 years, so I'm a tad partial for sure. When I was a kid it was a quiet place with mostly locals. Most of my relatives still live here and once you trace the ancestries back in the local families, we are mostly all related. Anyway, go check it out, sit on the dock where they used to bring in the tuna in, and order your lobster all cooked at great prices right off the boat or the roll stock full of lobster not lettuce! Like steamed clams? Great, they will steam'em up fresh for ya and give you melted butter along with. While eating my lobster I couldn't help remembering how, when I was a child, I would sit right there using cracked clams I bought for pennies as bait on my drop line and spend the afternoon fishing..Parking: Parking lot at top of hill and smaller one at bottom of the hill near the establishment.Wheelchair accessibility: You're dining outside on the dock. Parking is permitted at bottom of hill near dock.

Great place to eat outdoors and chat with others at picnic tables. Lobster was delicious and views were wonderful! BOB is allowed or pick something up at the general store near by. Great Maine experience.

The best place to eat lobster is on a picnic table overlooking the ocean in Maine, and this is that. They have fresh lobster from the sheepscot, a deep, brackish river that lobstermen say has the best lobster in Maine (and therefore the world). The harbor and surrounding islands are beautiful in the evening.
