We started going to Fryeburg as an emergency visit for our oldest dog when the vet we were with said they couldn’t see him for two days. The same day we called the doctors at Fryeburg said bring him in immediately. He had eaten gauze that had been wrapped on a wound he had and the strings were collapsing his intestines. Not exactly but he would’ve died without emergency surgery. They treated him and subsequently all our fur babies as if they were their own. Some vet hospitals are there to treat animals while Fryeburg Veterinary Hospital understands they are more than animals; they are members of your “pack”, they are babies and you hurt when they hurt. All he doctors and techs, the pharmacist, the office personnel…everyone shows how much they love their patients. We had to have three of our babies cross the rainbow bridge last year and they were there for us. We have one baby left and she will only go to Fryeburg.

Dr. Murphy is a wonderful vet. Our guinea pig Smudge got an eye infection from hay poke that required immediate care. Dr. Murphy saw her the same day we called and provided eye drops and pain meds for Smudge. Her eye cleared up 100% in about a week. Highly recommend!

Between 5 and 10 years ago my dog Jake (who was 15 1/2 yrs old) had heart failure. I called the vet who had at that time, for at least the lifetime of Jake, and they wouldn't take her...they said I had to take her to either Lewiston or Portland Emergency Vets. Either one of them was an hour away. So I called Fryeburg and they said bring her in, even though she wasn't a patient of theirs. She ended up passing away and the people there were so kind and caring. They sent us a card with their condolences as well! I decided if I ever got another dog or cat I would choose them as my Vets. I have had a few cats (and kittens) and they have all been to the Fryeburg Vet Hospital for there care. Wonderful people! Great Veterinarians! Thank you!

Can not say enough good things about Fryeburg vet hospital. My golden retriever (Bella) was not acting herself while i was up visiting my boyfriend. I called a few different vets, and no one would even let me bring her in. A friend told me to try Fryeburg and they were so kind. Asked me questions and told me to bring her in. The staff was so wonderful. the staff spent a lot of time with me and my Bella. They gave me some meds for her and told me to call if no changes the next day. I would recommend anyone looking for a caring and knowledgeable vet Fryeburg hospital is it!!

My Lab had his yearly check-up. We had a wonderful veterinarian and veterinarian assistant take great care of my anxious two year old Lab. They took great care of him. The receptionist and check out people were very friendly and welcoming. A great experience overall.

This vet was fantastic the last couple years but within the last year it has gone down hill DRASTICALLY. They've gone corporate and it shows. All our favorite staff members are no longer there. Ridiculous wait times for appointments. Staff is not helpful. Terrible communication from front desk staff. I've left voice-mails for several different reasons in the past and my calls are never returned. Prices have gone up and quality has gone down. They no longer take emergency visits on top of that. I've spent hundreds maybe even a couple thousand dollars to get no real results. We will be taking all of our animals to another location from now on.

I've taken all my dogs to this clinic, they are good for emergencies, general care, and were able to refer me to a good specialist when needed. While I don't enjoy going to the vet, because it usually means a dog is hurt or sick, they are top notch and very compassionate, responsive, and reasonably priced. I also appreciate their honesty about the relative cost and effectiveness of different treatments, and can tell my vet truly has my dogs' best interests at heart. Being a vet is a really difficult job, and I truly appreciate their professionalism and compassion.Update: Recently, my 8th grade students and I found a cat very near death on a walk. We asked a neighbor if it was their cat- it wasn't but they were kind people and called around to see if a veterinarian in the area would take them. Nobody except Fryeburg Veterinary Hospital would take them without a high initial payment. Remember this cat wasn't even theirs. The cat was taken to Fryeburg Vet- she was near death. Hypothermic and starving. Turns out, she had wandered away from home and her owners were looking for her! All ended well, because Fryeburg Vet was able to take her in. Kudos to the doctors and the kind-hearted neighbor for taking care of this cat. She is home now and doing well. My students and I were so happy to hear this. She was not doing well at all when we found her!

My experiences with Fryeburg Veterinary Hospital over the past 8 years have been varied and without exception positive for me and my Golden Retriever. When you have a big active dog things happen and from a torn out nail to a femoral head ostectomy and everything in between we have had great care and kindness from every member of the staff. It's a great team to have on your side.

On this day a year ago, I lost my dog Dunbar after Fryeburg Vet failed to analyze the full problem my dog's illness was. I was able to save my other dog by taking it to another vet. I have had 25 dogs go through Fryeburg Vet over 19 years. They are NOT a Veterinary Hospital JUST a Veterinary clinic.

My wife called a day ahead to schedule a appointment for her French Bulldog that is limping. They told her to they had time to have her dog to be seen. She arrives on time and waits over an hour with no communication from staff. She than goes to the counter to aquire about the wait and all they said is she could reschedule the visit. No apologies, nothing... poor customer service at its finest. This is not a one off with their customer service. I would think twice before scheduling an appointment. I will say the actual veterinary staff is amazing. Their front desk is the issue.

I had a 4 o’clock appointment at three 55. I was in the examination room with Heidi, my dog. And at 4:05 the doctor was looking at my dog. You can’t ask for a better service than that. Everybody there is so upbeat and friendly. You’re treated like family. I love it.

Dr. Murphy was very thorough evaluating Viva La Rue's eye condition. She took a conservative approach to treatment and addressed possible side effects of the prescription drug that she recommended. I definitely recommend her.Staff members were friendly and accommodating.
