I ordered an EGO Hedge Trimmer through the Ace website for pickup at this ACE location. I got a call saying it was ready for pickup - so I headed to the store a few hours later. When I got to the store I was handed a box that was very beat up. After putting it in my car, I decided I should check out the item before leaving due to how damaged the box was. Upon opening the box I noticed that the product was dirty and didn’t seem to have all of its packing materials.I came back into the store and told the person at the front desk (who had given the item to me) that the item looked like it had been used and returned, and that I would like a new one that hadn’t been opened. The associate told me that I would need to head to the shop in the back to talk to the associate back there. I then went to the shop and said the same to the shop associate - his response was “that’s the only one we have - if you want to return it, go back to the front of the store.”I then returned to the front of the store and a woman offered to help me at the paint desk. I explained what happened and without her even looking into the box she said “so you’re unhappy the box is damaged, do you want to speak to the owner?” I told her no, I just don’t want this used item, I paid for a new one. She then agreed to take it back and said “I’m going to mark this as defective.” Are you kidding me? The unit 3 employees were trying to tell me was fine is now “defective”? So now you’re fraudulently setting up a defective merchandise return with EGO?It’s clear that the unit was either a return, or display model that nobody took the time to even clean. If it was a display model - don’t you think it should have been cleaned before giving it to me, especially during COVID-19?I left this store and went directly to Home Depot since they had 8 of the same item in stock, and at the same price. I bought the item at Home Depot - and guess what? It was poly-bagged and packed better - unlike the one from ACE.I understand that sometimes you get an employee that doesn’t make the best decisions - but I talked to THREE employees at this store about this before leaving. The correct response from them should have been “I’m sorry, this was a display model - do you still want it?” Or “yes, this was a return - do you still want it?” - they shouldn’t have just denied it wasn’t in new condition. It clearly wasn’t. So much for the “helpful hardware folks” - next time I’ll just buy elsewhere.

Customer associates are condescending to customers and give them a hard time with a bad attitude. One in particular. I will never go back .

Do not go to this Ace location if you want customer service. I purchased a snow blower around $2,400.00. one employee in general has a bad attitude and like others have stated " acts like a know it all and if you don't agree with or buy his recommendation he gets into arguments with you" the same happened to me. - not going into details here. If I didn't need this item asap/wasn't in stock anywhere, I would never have bought it from this location. The gentleman who loaded my item with the fork lift was great. it also took 3 people almost a half hour to figure out how to ring me up. The store only had a few people shopping while l was at the register. Management really needs to coach the employee with the bad attitude at a minimum or get rid of him. I know they know who I'm talking about as I'm seeing a lot of other similar reviews. I'm a small business owner and would never have a person work for me with such a bad attitude. Failure starts from a leadership/management level.

Initially had a great experience in the store and bought $300 in merchandise and mentally planned to do more shopping here in the future.A week after my purchase I went back to store because I needed to return the garden hose I bought and exchange for a longer (more expensive) hose. They would not let me return and buy a longer hose and just pointed at a policy sign smiling and saying we don’t take returns.This is a horrible policy and unfortunately will cost this company thousands of dollars over my lifetime that I would have spent here. I will return to buying my gardening needs at Lowe’s I guess.

I always have a good experience at Ace, but this review in particular is for Jane. She is incredible, I usually see her in the paint department. Friendly, helpful, knows what she’s doing, and always smiles. She looks for ways to be efficient when helping customers which seems to be a lost art these days in many establishments. She’s a fabulous employee and I love interacting with her.

I tried to return a door knob with the receipt from the previous day. I had carefully opened the box to see if I like the quality and carefully put everything back . On trying to return the item they asked me if it had been opened. I said I had. They would not give be a refund of any kind. I had my receipt and I had the product less than a day. The product was in perfect condition. I said I would never shop there again and they said they didn’t care!

Price on shelves clearly stated multiple times that spray paint was $5.99......when I went to register they tried charging me $6.49. Multiple times I assured them that is NOT what sign read yet they challenged me even though I walked back to double check. They can keep their stuff..They're overcharging anyway. Not impressed with staff at all.

I use to love this store but there mask mandate and fearful acting employees.was over the top. I'm glad they lightened up a little. But I ended up giving my money to other stores that were not do weird.

I bought $250 chargable batteries after getting the clerk's help on which would fit my skillsaw. When I got home I found out they were the wrong ones. The store wouldn't take them back because the package was opened.

2nd time in. Same as the first. Surly employees to (help)? First time was for a mower blade and adapter. The guy only decided to help when I told him he had it from looking online.THEN, he stood in front of the blades so I couldn't choose what I wanted. I pushed him out of the way so I could pick. 2nd Visit I wanted some electrical cord. THe guy argued with me about what was 14/2 w/ ground and not. I know what this stuff is. He continued to argue with me all the way to the register because I didn't buy the cord. I should have given him my basket with 2 items in it and walked out! I WON'T be back !Response to owner: No thanks, twice abused is quite enough!

Great alertness to somebody looking for stuff! And if there's not someone moving really slow in front of you, it's great for a quick visit as well! It really does remind me of what Mom and Pop stores always used to be!

I called to ask if they had a certain kind of lightbulb in stock that I was looking for. My company has purchased this product many times before (in store or they order it for us when not in stock). The man on the phone asked me for the product number and I started to read the number I had for a specific brand's version of the product. He interrupted me and said "no no no the Ace number." How would I have any way of knowing what the Ace number for the product is? I told him I didn't have it and tried to be descriptive with what I was looking for. I said it was a "U-Bend" style bulb and he said he had "never heard of that before" despite this being a pretty standard type of bulb. He said they didn't have anything like that in stock and when I asked if he could order it he gave some excuse and said no. I told him I'd try ordering from somewhere else, so they just lost that business. I felt he was condescending and did not try to be helpful. It was disappointing because whenever I have gone into the store the employees usually ask to help me right away to find what I am looking for.

Needed our sliding door screen re-screened. They said one to two weeks, which was fine with me. Three days later they gave me a call to tell me it was done. It looks brand new. Nice job team.

Decent. Big selection. They have an attitude there like they are doing you a favor waiting on you. And, being in Falmouth, they charge you extra for it. This isn't an isolated incident either. I've lived on the Foreside 10+ years. Same story whenever I go. I actually avoid talking to them if possible.

Bought a brand new 2-stage 24" Ego snowblower on 10/31 as they were selling out at most stores and wanted to be ready for snow. First snowstorm we had was night of 12/5 into 12/6. Got about 3" of wet snow. Should be a piece of cake for this snowblower that claims it can clear up to 15". The snowblower would get stuck and spin after about 8 to 10' of clearing (once it had a small pile in front of it to push through and throw), or due to it not being as heavy as a gas blower, would start to walk up on top of the snow instead of cutting through it. Borrowed my neighbor's Ariens and cleared my driveway with no problem.Called ACE to work out a return, and was told I can't return it. They don't take back anything "used", and that I would have to deal with Ego. Ego says I have to deal with ACE because the unit is not defective and is still fully operational. Based on other reviews below I would avoid buying anything Ego brand in particular from ACE, seems they have no intention of backing anything they sell.
