Their “custom building” section was pretty darned impressive as were the folks who worked there. The hardware store part has a nice selection of items and is well stocked. We went in looking for a screen door. They didn’t have the size we needed but offered to order it for us. Obviously, it’s a much more personalized experience than going to a big box store. Conveniently located.

Friendly staff who are great assets when looking for recommendations. Prices are competitive. At certain times, can be alittle tough making a left out of lot when leaving, be worth it to go right and then left at light to turn around then.

Always a pleasant experience at Hammond lumber/ Ellsworth! Been shopping there for WAY over a decade, back when it was EBS. There's always someone available if you have questions, or need service. Staff is great, knowledgeable and friendly, for the most part. I won't stop shopping there anytime soon... (And I'm a stickler for, and a believer in good customer service!)

this "organization" is the antithesis of customer-service. Drove over an hour to this Hammond Lumber store, went in and asked a simple question. Little, rotund lady at front desk could not have been more rude with basically no reply. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS TO ANY OTHER LUMBER/HARDWARE STORE BESIDES THIS ONE. You have been warned.

Tim went above and beyond for me. I needed a specific sign. We searched the entire signage area to no avail. Then he searched in the storage area and found it for me. He could have easily given up when it wasn't in the sign section. Thank you for the great customer service!

Friendly, welcoming service. Supporting local business is worth the personalized experience, even if prices are slightly more than the box stores. Plus, free delivery is a godsend if you don't have a truck for larger materials.

Took delivery of my order today I purchased a week ago. Sad, they can't call to let you know they're coming. Wonder where it would've been left had we not been home? I'll go to Hammond when I must, but in Town Hill vs Ellsworth store. Much more helpful and professional. Delivery Mgr couldn't even take 2 minutes to return our phone call.

Hammond Lumber /EBS. Its a descent place to go. Staff is always nice. Prices are sometimes a bit more than big box on the other side of town, but you save that in aggrevation & time. Was there for driveway sealer last time & they couldn't find the 36 5 gal buckets they were supposed to have. But they got what I needed from another store & delivered it to me the next morning with no issues. Thanks guys! A place with actual customer service!!

To be honest, we are lucky to have a number of good choices here: Home Depot, Viking, Web, and EBS/Hammond Lumber. Hammond Lumber is my choice getting help, large orders, and stuff that must be delivered (free). I can hand search their hardwood racks. Their hardware is certainly better quality than Home Depot. Their tool selection, both hand and power, is excellent. But I shop at all of these stores. I certainly do recommend stopping in here to find what you want.

It used to be EBS Ellsworth building supplies and Hammond lumber just took over. not much of a customer service had a carry out my order which was pretty large by myself and there was no ramp to steps which is kind of odd.

DO NOT go to Hammond for a propane fill. They are by far the most expensive of anyone around. Almost to the point where I'd consider it price gouging.
