I stopped in here because I really wanted to see what Maine thrift stores are like and what kind of things people wear around here. It was an overall good experience! I tried on many things of which only one dress worked, but I also found a pair of like-new L. L. Bean hiking boots for $25 and I was pretty excited about that. They have a pretty large selection of thrift inventory, but I was also surprised to see some retail items available like planters, food storage containers, and other dollar-store kitchen items. While I was there, I overheard one of the new managers educating a newer employee and it seems like there is really good communication amongst their team. The only negative thing I have to say about this store is that the bathroom was pretty disgusting. Other than that, it was a good experience!

Who shops here and who makes up the prices? They're outrageous. The book prices were close to bookstore prices. I looked up a few books I was interested in and could get them brand new in perfect condition for $1 more online. Left with nothing

Nice employees but I found a pair of jeans that fit me and were in good condition, no price tag. They called the manager over and she said $15. I said no, went to Walmart and bought the same pair NEW for $17 and some change. Why would I buy used WORN jeans to save a couple dollars? The new ones will last me longer. This location also usually doesn't have anything other than clothing which isn't entirely their fault as it's dependent upon what people donate, but their donation hours can be weird and they can be strict on donations.

Goodwill is not like what they use to be. Less stuff Bangor goodwill has way more stuff. Custom service is ok sometimes. I haven't shopped at Goodwill in maybe 6 months now because there really isn't much that is needed to shop for. I hope this store gets better as the months go on.

I used to like to stop by this store whenever I was in Ellsworth but the prices have SKYROCKETED over the last few months and they’re filling the shelves with cheaply made private label merchandise. I inquired about their new pricing policy and was told that “prices are increasing everywhere”. Well, maybe for that new merchandise they’re putting on the shelves (again, it’s horrible stuff) but their donated goods cost haven’t increased - those cost them nothing. If you’re looking for quality bargains in Ellsworth, spend your time at Mardens.

Don't ever go in here with expectations of good customer service. I haven't shopped for clothing at Goodwill in quite sometime but was in need of some jeans and t-shirts casual wear. Figured I would look around while I was doing my wash across the road. I gathered together about 5 t-shirts and same in Jean's first asked an associate that was right by the dressing rooms if I could try some stuff on. She told me I need to push the button on the wall and someone would come from out back to assist me. So I did. A woman comes out from the back and apologizes because they r closing in a little over a half an hour and they will not allow ppl to use the dressing rooms anymore because some ppl take too long....I was literally flabbergasted. I responded u don't close for another 40 minutes and I just wanted to try on these 3-4 pairs of jeans before I buy them to make sure they fit.She insisted that was their policy and she apologized for not announcing it over the intercom and I adked why that policy wasn't shown online. I had other things from houseware in my cart as well but I felt that was absurd that they thought out of the 3 or 4 customers they had shopping I would possibly go into a dressing room and prevent them from closing at the time they would usually close by trying on a few things. What is going on with customer service now adays? First of all I would never do that I knew they were closing in in about an hour, secondly they just lost probably about $50 in income....I don't get it? I just grabbed my jacket and purse and said thank u and left. Oh and btw very condescending this young lady kept calling me "hun" sorry "hun" goodnight "hun". Its not like I'm a regular maybe annoying customer. I've never met her and I haven't shopped for clothing in Goodwill like I said for about a year or so. Its usually just a thing I might do to pass time every great once in awhile. But I'll tell u what they have made a fortune off me and I've donated so much in the 30 years of my adult life that that interaction with her was pretty discouraging as far as this Corporation goes! Train your staff better!

Goodwill stores can be hit or miss. Sometimes I feel the stuff has been really picked over, not sure if it's from other customers or employees. But some of the locations are worse or better then others. The three good things I can say about this location, they are well set-up to take donations, the store is neat and clean and workers are almost always friendly/helpful.

Ebay prices, some higher, anything looks older, high price. Then they ask if you'd like to round up spare change, really?

Went yesterday a little after 10:00 a.m. well, the store was clean ( there were 5 people in the store 2 were staff) picked up a used hardcover book, several years old 8.00 price tag. Looked at used coffee mugs 2.00-4.00, saw a plastic cup that still had the store tag on it,for 4.49. Goodwill's price 4.99. they had new winter items marked 75 per cent off. Picked up 2 pairs of mossy oak socks. One was marked 10.00 one was marked 8.00, the same socks. Goodwill you've heard it before, lower the prices .

We tried leaving a bag of washed clothes by the donation door, and a guy came out and threatened to call the cops on us if we didn't take our clothes back since they were 'closed', this was at 11am on a Wednesday, when employees were clearly present on site to take our donation. So we won't be going back or donating anything more after our donation was effectively rejected and they threatened to send us to jail. even if they were closed for donations they need to rethink both their hiring practices to get less aggressive people and their scheduling policies if 11am is considered an ok closing time.

This review is not necessarily about the store itself, although I did find what I wanted for fair prices. It is about an employee. Her name was Liliana, and what a beautiful and helpful young lady she is! If I lived in the area, I would come back here just because of her. She was pleasant and happy to be working, and you don't see a lot of that these days. It is so fun to have dealings with with a pleasant service worker.

After driving an hour with a trunk full of donations - could your business (during business hours!) please be considerate enough to have a bin to place my donations in, if you don't have enough staff to man the donation drop off point or for what ever reason it was closed in the middle of the day. I'm not dragging it back home, and if you don't want my donations, the next stop for them will be the dump.

Unreliable! Voicemail says open 9-4 M-F. I have gone there twice in the last month to donate items and both times rope around the building with a sign saying not to leave donations. Won't bother anymore. Either provide donation hours or close down.

Sadly prices are way over new retail. The staff is absolutely amazing and the sale days are definitely worth a stop in. Clothing is not worth it at this point being 10$+ for used items.

I called this place at 3:45pm and was told they accept donations Friday-Monday until 5pm. I drove from Bangor for 35 minutes to make a donation, arrived there at 4:40 just to have the manger tell me “sorry we can’t accept anymore donations because we are short staffed” Amazing!!!!!! Short staffed in a matter of an hour. Not acceptable!! This manger, a woman, just lazy, who wants to accept donations 20 minutes before closing window, even though our donations put her food on the table. I dumped my donations on the side of the store. Good Luck!!!!

I appreciate the convenient drive-up donation door. But I bought a used glass baking dish there for $5, which I agreed to round up to $6 to support their programs. Later I saw a similar dish new at another store for $3.

The young men were very pleasant. Pricing absurd. Dollar Tree items, priced $2. Lots of items, no price tag, trashy, dirty. Seems they don't care.

Looking to save a few bucks ? There is a decent amount of clothing for kids, women and men at this location. Their prices are very reasonable for used clothes and other great items you will find tucked in the shelves.

This Goodwill is a little less well kept than some. Mostly clothing. My wife likes to check it out whenever we're in the Ellsworth area. It has decent parking and is accessible, but from two fairly busy roads.

The stuff here is clean and nicely arranged. It's much easier to find what you want here than at most resale shops. Open later than 5 pm too and that's a big plus.

why is it every time I bring in a donation I am "blessed" with a worker with an attitude. Management needs to work on store customer-service.
