We just had our first visit with our dogs after moving to Maine. Dr. Jones and her staff were incredibly friendly and professional. I was especially impressed with how well they did with one of my dogs who is usually very afraid of people.

I've been taking my cat and dogs to Ellsworth Family Veterinary Clinic since they opened and trust them completely. I appreciate their love of animals and the compassion and empathy they all have for us. Dr. Jones is knowledgeable and experienced and takes as much time as needed to give her patients appropriate and thorough care. I'm happy to recommend her and her team to others.

Dr Jones is amazing! Super gentle and caring with my pup and did an amazing job at explaining everything so that it's easy to understand what's going on. 10/10 highly recommend

Ellsworth Family Vet Clinic came highly recommended when my husband and I got our first dog. Even though it is a farther drive for us than some more local vets, we couldn’t be happier with our choice. Dr. Jones and the whole staff make each vet visit very easy and pleasant. Which is saying something when you have a 140lb Great Dane who’s prone to ear infections. The clinic is always very clean, orderly, and comfortable, and they always manage to get us in promptly when we have unforeseen issues come up.Dr. Jones is knowledgeable and professional. Her care and devotion for the well-being of her patients is evident and we trust her completely to always recommend only the best for our giant fur baby. We will be bringing our pets to this vet clinic for years to come!

We have been bringing our dogs here for over two years and every visit has been excellent. Caring compassionate staff. They seem more like a family than a regular staff of associates. Prices are very fair and they will work to lower cost wherever possible. Dr. Jones is an exceptionally gifted veterinary doctor and person and her devotion to the practice filters to everyone who works there. Highly recommended

Always made my girl feel right at home, she actually enjoys the vet which I’ve never seen before. She’s a rescue so she’s particular about some people and other animals but they make sure everything is just right for her. She always walks in wagging her tail like crazy. Super nice staff, saved my little pup many times

They are amazing! Our dog is 13 yrs old and used to be nervous going to the vet. She literally just walks in with them with no hesitation. They are so gentle and really genuinely care for your pet!

My wife filled out a new patient form back in June to get our dog seen. Still haven’t heard back. I did the same back in August. Nothing. Not allowed to make an appointment until you fill the form out and they call you. So I guess they don’t have room for customers, but when I call, they don’t just say that, they tell me to fill out an application.

My 14 year old kitty was at the end stage of his life, in severe pain and distress. My Veterinarian, 15+yrs client, could not euthanize my kitty with me there for a week, but I could drop him off and they could euthanize him that day without me. I called Ellsworth Family Veterinary and explained my situation, they made time within 2 hrs for my kitty to be euthanized with me there. All of the staff were so compassionate and put the needs and comfort of my kitty and me first. I was not a client and they had no guarantee I would become a client or if they would see after I picked up my kitty's ashes. None of that mattered, they emphasized instantly with my kitty's pain and need to be free of that as well as my need to be with him. I highly recommend this practice.

Hands down the best vet around! Dr. Jones is VERY thorough, and clearly loves the animals she is working with. Masks are still required inside the clinic, which puts my mind at ease with COVID. I won’t be going anywhere else!

Nothing but great reviews for Dr. Jones & her staff. After an unpleasant experience with another veterinarian office, relieved to find a practice who cares for our dog as much as we do. Dr. Jones & all of her staff provide a welcoming environment & thorough visit. We are glad our dog is receiving such good care.

The facility is attractive and comfortable. It seemed a more home like setting than a veterinary clinic. The staff was welcoming, kind, efficient and gentle. They put both myself and my cat at ease. We have four cats, all rescues, at our house. Should any of them have need of veterinary care we will certainly bring them here.

I can't say enough good things about this practice! Everyone we interacted with was kind and caring. All the people we encountered were also prompt and efficient; the facility was clean and attractive. We were on vacation with our dog when he ran into a porcupine. The clinic stayed open late to assist us, even though we're not regular clients. This willingness to go the extra distance to help an injured animal was much appreciated, and shows commitment to helping people's pets. If we lived closer, this practice would become our regular vet.If I could have given 10 stars instead of 5 I would have! Excellent care and compassion!

I called because I needed to make an appointment for my puppy to have her second round of vaccinations. With the recent pandemic most vets won’t let you in with your pet....Which is wildly unfortunate already as most of us wouldn’t leave our children to go to the doctors by themselves. I was hoping since the Gov. had lifted the mask mandate that I would at least be allowed in with her as long as I was wearing a mask.I was met with hostility and rudeness because they are “a private business and we can do what we want.”Well Sir, I completely understand that. But you don’t need to tell me more than once, I’m neither ignorant nor dumb. Lose the attitude or you will lose your clients.

We are visiting from out of state and our Cockapoo was having ear trouble. I called Ellsworth Family Veterinary this morning and spoke with Jim. He was so friendly and got us scheduled for this afternoon. We were greeted upon arrival. Liz, the Vet Tech, came to take us to exam room. She was really nice and thorough with taking our information and swabbing his ears for testing. Dr. Jones was super in her diagnosis, cleaning of pups ears and adding drops. We loved this clinic! We both said “wish they were in Florida! They would be out Vet!” Thank you to you all for taking such great care of our baby boy!

Amazing experience with the good folks at the Ellsworth vet clinic. Needed an emergency microchipping and rabies vaccine to get our dog into Switzerland and they were not only accommodating but prompt, professional and friendly when no one else around for a hundred miles could help us out. Archie and his family are indebted to you and we can't recommend this clinic enough.

As a person who has interned with Dr. Jones, I can confirm that if my animals were injured in Maine, she would be the only person I’d want to bring them to. Dr. Jones is passionate about her patients and willing to put in the extra effort to make sure they are well. I have seen her spend her time with clients, ensuring that their animals get the best care possible. Unlike clinics that have been sold to big companies, Dr.Jones’ is personal. She cares about listening to your concerns and making sure the animal is ok before leaving. In conjunction with that, her vet techs are very knowledgeable about the treatment and procedures regarding animal care.

There are positives and negatives with this practice. Dr. Jones has been great at times like when my dog swallowed something potentially toxic. Dr. Jones would induce vomiting if needed. Dr. Jones told me that my dog could NOT have a dental because she had developed a grade 1-2 heart murmur. I know now that this is absolutely NOT true. Dogs with heart murmurs do get dentals. Dr. Jones NEVER mentioned a veterinary dental specialist as a potential option. Eight months later my dog was diagnosed with kidney disease. What Dr. Jones probably should have said is that she didn't feel comfortable doing the dental. I did quite extensive research and found out about veterinary dental specialists on my own. I had no idea that not getting a dental could lead to kidney disease. After the kidney disease diagnosis, the treatment "plan" was to start feeding my dog a prescription kidney food diet and return for testing in two to three months. I felt that this was an inadequate treatment "plan." My precious dog had been on a different kind of prescription diet (for digestive issues) for two years and Dr. Jones commented that she didn't think my dog would handle the kidney diet food well because of digestive issues. So what were the options for feeding my dog? I had to find them myself. First, I discovered that dogs with kidney disease often need meds for nausea and acid reflux or they may not eat anything at all. I discovered that there are certified veterinary nutritionists that will offer proper nutritional home cooked food recipes for dogs with kidney disease or other health problems. Because I felt the treatment "plan" was inadequate, I took my dog to another vet who prescribed meds for acid reflux and nausea so my dog would eat and checked my dog's blood pressure and discovered she needed blood pressure medication. Dr. Jones sent records to this particular vet and two others. I also had my dog's blood tested three weeks after the kidney disease diagnosis and found additional medication was needed to combat the progression of the kidney disease. My dog now has a new vet. I think Dr. Jones needs an email list of her clients so she can email them as a group and give them a heads up when she is going to be unavailable and let them know whether or not another vet will be covering for her. More than once Dr. Jones was on vacation on a weekday when my dog needed to see a vet. A couple of times she had another vet cover for her, but not every time. Dr. Jones' office sent my dog's records to three other veterinary offices over a period of a few years because I needed a back up plan when Dr. Jones was unavailable. I hope this review helps other pets and petparents with valuable information about dental cleanings, kidney disease, heart disease, and veterinary specialists. While researching I also discovered veterinary cardiologists, internal medicine specialists, and veterinary eye specialists. There could be other types of veterinary specialists. There is a wealth of information online. I wish I had discovered it sooner.

Everything about my recent and first visit to the Ellsworth Family Vet Clinic was superlative. I arrived with my dog and cat and we were warmly welcomed and checked-in by Erin, the experienced receptionist. When you walk in you immediately feel that you are being welcomed into a home, rather than a clinic. The space is open, there are separate waiting areas for cats and dogs (if needed), coffee or tea is available, the decor and floors (wood) are lovely, and the overall atmosphere is one of cleanliness, peace and comfort. Once we had checked-in we were immediately invited into one of the consultation rooms by the capable and friendly team of Velvet and Anna. Both of my pets were very relaxed in the big space and each wandered about freely while it was the other one's turn to be examined. Velvet and Anna did the initial intake and then Dr. Jones came in and gave each pet a thorough exam and provided some very helpful suggestions and techniques for helping my cat who suffers from some digestive issues. The entire staff was loving towards and sincerely interested in my dog and cat's welfare and health and both my dog and cat were very relaxed and happy during their visit. I left there feeling that we had found the best possible veterinary "home".I have also explored the Ellsworth Family Vet website and found it to be extremely helpful and educational and easy to navigate. I also received a follow-up email from the Clinic's manager, thanking me for choosing EFVC for my vet needs and providing me with a link to access coupons for the pet food my cat requires. I cannot speak highly enough about all the wonderful people who are EFVC--so professional and caring and enthusiastic about their work. And the facility is absolutely beautiful, well thought out, and immaculate.

The Ellsworth Family Veterinary Clinic is amazing. Our dog Louie was anxious and quite a handful at other clinics so I decided to see if he would do better with Dr. Jones. When Jim answered the phone I felt like I had known him my whole life. He made sure to get all of Louie's records and got us an appointment right away. Louie hadn't been doing well the past year or so, and at the age of 13 we desperately wanted to help him feel more comfortable during his "end of days". The clinic looks like a house and is so warm and inviting. Dr. Jones was incredibly thorough and discovered Lou had Lyme along with severe arthritis and a heart murmur. Our prior vet had never been that thorough. We had no idea he had lyme or a murmur. We did know his time was coming and Dr. Jones and all of her staff were very understanding and helpful during the few months they saw him and treated him. Lou was a handful, but Dr. Jones and her staff handled him wonderfully. He was judged quite a bit in the past for being a pit bull and totally uncooperative but Dr. Jones treated him as if he were her own. No judgement whatsoever. She even set up a home euthanasia plan with us. Unfortunately Louie suddenly took a turn for the worst on June 7th, 2018 and after hearing my frantic answering machine messages, Jim had us come in first thing in the morning. They made time for us and I don't know how to ever repay them. They administered the sedation shot while in our vehicle to keep Louie less anxious and we were able to lay with him in our truck until he was sleepy. Dr. Jones and her staff gave us all the time we needed to lay with Louie on the floor in a very private room. They all showed so much compassion. When it was time to say goodbye, Dr. Jones made sure we knew how the process would go and what to expect. After his heart stopped we were once again allowed to lay with him and cry. We never once felt rushed or like he was just another patient to them. I recommend Dr. Jones and all of her staff. I would give a million stars if I could. They are amazing people and very gifted in animal medicine. Once our hearts have healed we will be back without a doubt. Thank you for loving our Louie and giving him the best you possibly could for the short time he was with you.

I've only gone here when my pet needed to be seen as soon as possible and both times they fit them in quickly (once next day and once same day). They are friendly and comforting, and genuinely care. They remembered my and my pets name even the next day when I came by to drop off a bio sample

DO NOT TRUST YOUR ANIMALS WITH THIS DOCTOR!My beloved companion had a persistent cough, and fearing the worst, I entrusted his care with this 'veterinarian', who, after informing me he was suffering from heart disease, refused to tell me how to treat it OR how to ease his discomfort, instead insisting on focusing on an expensive flee/tick treatment (which he already had) and his rabies vaccination (which he didn't need). When I then took him to another vet to treat his heart disease, this doctor would not send his radiographs. To add insult to injury, it was the most expensive visit to the vet I've ever had, and we've been seeing NYC veterinarians for 10+ years.Shame on her.edited to respond: this is my first review, ever. perhaps you have several people who are upset with your practice.

I have been bringing my pets to Ellsworth Family Veterinary Clinic for nearly five years. We always receive a warm welcome, a thorough examination, a detailed explanation, and reasonable pricing with adequate payment options available. We could not ask for anything more from our vet.

Thank God I found Dr Jones because every other vet I had tried that day when my cat having diaerah and vomiting was "just to busy "This condition had not cleared itself up in 6 weeks and $375! I was afraid I would have to put my poor cat down because the family could not live with the mess and smell any more, and we had to leave for a week, and I could not let my animal sitter deal with the constant clean up .Reviewing the labs from the previous vet ,Dr Jones found that the medicine and treatment another vet had given him did not take care of the particular bug the cat had, and told me she would keep the cat and do intravenous hydration because he was so dehydratedand continue medicating. , A week later we came back to a cured cat! She nailed it when it came to a continuing problem with my Great Pyr as well. I highly recomend thes vet ! She is a Keeper just look at her site and you see the level of professionalism she keeps . Her staff are just great as well

Had an unfortunate porcupine run-in with one of my Drahthaars on the last day of our trip to Maine. It was not a pretty situation, but EFV made time in their busy afternoon to take care of my pup. The vet and techs were extremely pleasant and professional, and Wyatt was back to normal in just a few hours. They even called a couple of days later to follow up.Thanks guys!
