Very nice, simple diner attached to a convenience store. Good service. Great choices for breakfast (until 11 am), lunch, and dinner. I had the fish sandwich, and my husband had the cheeseburger sub. We both enjoyed the food, both plates came with potato chips. Cocktails were an option that we didn't take advantage of, and desserts were also available, but we didn't partake.

UPDATE: I can no longer recommend that you go to Ellis's because things have gone down hill since my last review. I suggest you travel a few extra miles to Ralph's Deli in Rumford. I was very disappointed with my purchase at Ellis's today. I bought an Italian sandwich and it was very skimpy. Exactly two very thin slices of tomato and just skimpy all around. It cost over $10. I am withdrawing my positive review based on how skimpy the sandwich was when compared to my last sandwich. A message to the owners - do not keep getting skimpy on your food to make more profits. You charge top dollar for your food. We know a rip off here in Dixfield. You were doing good, but you apparently decided to cut back on food costs by skimping on ingredients. Wrong move. You're making a lot of money on a $10 Italian sandwich with almost no ingredients. Word will get around and you will lose business. This is a warning. Your only options for pizza and subs in Dixfield are Ellis Variety and Sams Italian Sandwich Shop. Sams is also expensive and very skimpy on ingredients. But based on today's experience, you might as well go to Sams instead of Ellis's if all you are buying is food. At least you know that Sams ingredients will be fresh, even if not plentiful. Sams and Ellis's are the only sub shops in Dixfield. If you don't want to go the extra few miles to Ralphs, or if you want to pick up beer, chips, etc. along with your food, then go to the Community Quik Stop just over the bridge in Peru.

Lately, we travel out of town for food as there are minimal options around here for good food. But Ellis’s is close and convenient in a pinch an food is.. Okay. Today we ordered breakfast, and yet again something we ordered was forgotten. The last 3 times we have ordered takeout from there something has been forgotten or made wrong! I understand people make mistakes. We’re human! But every time we have ordered as of late this has happened. Incompetent workers, clearly.

I try to review the buisness and not the other customers comments but man... this place should be 4.9-5 any day so I had to look and see who is writing bad reviews. As an over the road truck driver I try to find the unique local favorite in different towns all over the country. I can only think of one or two place to rival this one, and I'm not driving back to NC or Mississippi just to grab some lunch. It's rare to find fries that would please my Irish mother and grandmother, but these might be the first to surprise them in a good way! Absolutely fantastic. The fish sandwich was huge and just as delicious. No room left for the gigantic cookie sandwich I got for desert, but I am definitely still excited about it.Staff were awesome too. I'm not a people person, beautiful ladies make me nervous so I tend to stay in the truck with the cat. But man did they seem glad to greet everyone who walked in. Kind, welcoming, just great people. Happy to take a minute for their customers even when they were very busy. Years of selling food with a fake smile on my face gives me the expertise to tell you that these people genuinely care about their customers. And hey for the record, I used to work at the number one rated 5 star hotel and wedding resort in VA, as a server, runner, and expo for some of the most qualified chef's in the country. We providied authentic Forbes 5 star dinner and wedding experiences to millionares and billionaires every day. Fry cooks at McDonald's wear gloves. Real chefs wash their hands. The food was fresh and on point, some people just don't know any better.Wish I had stopped to take a photo of the fish sandwich before i ate it and the cookie sandwich before I let it melt in the truck! Please take a moment to hit that fifth star because I might have driven right past this place and missed out!Parking: Plenty of parking for bobtail. You could probably get in and out with a trailer if you wanted.

Always friendly, always good food. They put a little bar in the dining area last week, but I haven't gone there for that. The homemade toast with breakfast is the best!Parking: PLENTY of parking- The building is literally surrounded by parking- standard paved area on three sides, and a larger gravel lot in back, kind of bumpy but perfectly serviceable.Kid-friendliness: It's a casual family place. The dining room is always loud, so a couple more voices won't make any difference.

My family dined here for lunch this afternoon. We loved it! It's a little awkward considering it's both a diner and a variety store, but if you're comfortable with that kind of atmosphere, then there's nothing wrong with giving this place a try! I personally had the grilled chicken Ceasar salad and thought it was AMAZING! Great prices, even greater food and a place I would recommend to all my friends.

Spotty service, food is either a hit or a miss but definitely not consistent. Oven closes way before store does. This closing time should be noted as different from the store's hours. From my experience if a business / restaurant closes at 9pm, closing staff could be closing for hours after the doors lock. With inexperience, young workers, they want out as soon as the clock hits 9pm. This means anything and everything they can shut down before hand is,. Ultimately the business suffers. Please start listing the closing time of the kitchen, it shouldn't be contingent of who's working that night. Consistency is key...

I have heard numerous times Ellis's had great breakfast/food in general. I finally ate there and my breakfast as well as the whole tables breakfast was DELICIOUS. The portions were big for the cost of the meal. I got over medium eggs and the yolk was perfectly runny while the white part of the egg was cooked and not slimy and undercooked. I also got a side order of pancakes which was 3 pancakes. They were huge, 1 pancake was enough for me with my toast and two eggs. Very filling meal and worth the price. The waitress was amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone that inquired about a good place to eat. I understand now why so many people recommend them to me.

I Have worked in the restaurant business for 20 + years now as a cook. This dinner has some of the best specials around a 30 mile radius. Food quality is consistent as well as having you wanting seconds. In the kitchen it's self there is over 150 years of cooking experience. They have recently added a bar to make the evening dine in experience easily convertible into a spots game nights more doable. So come down order a pizza so hot wings and mozzarella stick bring the family friends as well as couples ready for a romantic evening with good food.Vegetarian options: And meal as well as sandwich can be accommodated for the individual.Dietary restrictions: Every cook will prepare any dietary restrictions as well as gluten free foods for youngsters whom have adhd or other wise individual needs.Parking: The parking lot for the place was huge.Kid-friendliness: Always a safe place for kids to eat and be safe as well as a huge flat screen for the cartoons and or a family movie night out.Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible via 2 different entrances

They're starting to slip and lose control. Took my order via phone - then when I showed up, I paid for it. She dismissed me saying have a good day, had to ask for my food. Then was told they didn't have what I ordered until the following day... okay. You took my money and wanted to send me away without food? Had to ASK for my money back? Who does that? You let me place order and drive there, wasting my time and gas and couldn't even call me to let me know? The vibes amongst the employees werent good either, showing screen shots in front of customers and talking about coworkers. Tasteless and not a good look. Left there shaking my head. Sad experience.

Great food and great service from the waiters but the cashiers normally have an attitude and act as if your bothering them when you go up to the register. I have went to this store and seen a a cashier laying over the counter talking to another employee and ignoring me as I stood there waiting patiently then was given attitude and dirty looks as she cashed me out. This is not the first time I've been there and gotten attitude. I am very patient, I understand having a bad day but when it's a recurring issue that's when customer service skills may need to be worked on.

Quaint family styled place. Warm welcome smiles and really good food! Best breakfast around! Update: They have upgraded the place to include a corner bar. Drinks are reasonably priced. Food is still delicious and a plate is more than filling. Even though inflation forced their prices up sadly, still think this place is one hell of a deal for breakfast!!

Ordered a veggie omelet and my partner got an omelette "with meat"The mystery meat turned out to be about a pound of chipped ham dumped into an omelette. The veggie omelette involved a similar method of frying up scrambled eggs and then dumping the toppings and folding the egg over.... Which isn't actually considered the omelette being ordered. A real veggie omelette would have the veggies mixed into the beaten eggs BEFORE being grilled together... AND DOESNT INVOLVE BLACK OLIVES 🤢🤢🤢If you're looking for the reason Walmart sells alcohol at 8am, this place is one of them.My partner wouldn't let me come in to say something directly but please, black olives do not belong in a veggie omelette... Ever.

Prices are good, and the staff are amazing. They are kind and are willing to help no matter how busy it is. The food here is delicious and perfectly done to my liking. I appreciate the service, and I 100% recommend going here to dine in or take out.

Not a whole lot of selection in the area, so beggars can't be choosers. Food is edible and it fills the hunger hole

Food Is always good. People, well depends on who's working. Or I should say who's hired or fired for that week. Prices are good. Pizza is very delicious!I'm adding to my review because things have changed since I last gave a review over a year ago in 2021. Now the employees are great but the prices are EXTREMELY HIGH! You've been warned. Food is great. I ordered a Lg chipper. Add mozzarella and onions and it came to $17.00!!!! Yup you read that correct! I think that price is absolutely ridiculous!
